Just looked out the window, it's only 19th November! It's that watery type of snow, I hope it wont settle. Please go away, you're not welcome, come back in January at least proper depths of winter, not the tail end of Autumn, in fact better still don't come back at all. We're meeting friends for lunch today, first world problem I'm hoping my hair wont get wet grin

I'm in the south east, what's it like in your neck of the woods?

Kent coast - just pouring rain right now. But dark, so dark!

RosieandherMaw Wed 19-Nov-25 11:52:35

Today is D3's 44 th birthday and like many of us I woke up to sleet this morning.
44 years ago my MIL came up to us in London from Sussex to look after the other 2 little girls. After a few days, real snow set in and she hastened home in case she got stuck!
At the risk of tempting fate , I think we "ain't seen nothing yet"☃️☃️☃️

My DS has just had his 44th birthday, RoseandherMaw and I remember the snow falling while I was in hospital in Staffordshire in 1981, post Caesarean section. It took a few weeks for it to clear, I seem to remember.

Now I live in Torbay where we have bright sunshine but a biting North wind so the temperature feels like 0 degrees, apparently.

South East here too, and blue skies with a bit of cloud, that’s all, but noticeably colder.

Grantanow Wed 19-Nov-25 12:11:51

Snow, snow, go away,
Come up North another day.
Sleet, sleet, leave my street,
Where, oh where, is all the heat?

Oreo Wed 19-Nov-25 12:13:41

Why Grantanow….you’re a poet!😃

I haven’t seen snow for years now. I caught a glimpse sometime pre Covid on a mountain top and you know what ? I actually miss it.

As I was driving this morning, it was visible lying on the moors just west of the city here in South Yorkshire. It looked glorious. When I got to the gym it was snowing on the car park! Not so glorious. Clear now and no more forecast but who knows. This time last year we were up to our knees in it.

An inch or two of snow here in the North Pennines last night but it's melting in today's glorious sunshine. Very pretty. Hope it goes soon! A bit less traffic than usual but the postie got here so the roads can't be too bad.

Woke to snow in Durham, as did the DDs just outside Newcastle. Just as well we’re hard up North.

Aldom Wed 19-Nov-25 13:32:06

Ashcombe In the winter of 81/82 we lived in rural north Wales.
For us the first snow fall was on 12th November. The snow was so deep that cars were buried and it was possible to walk on top of the hedgerows because they were under snow. We were never without snow that winter, the last snowfall being 25th April!

RosesandLilac Wed 19-Nov-25 13:33:07

It was sleeting and bitterly cold on the early dog walk, DH moaned for the entire hour despite it being obvious it was very cold outside before we left!
It bright and sunny now, 8° apparently, here in south Glos.

Tuinoma Wed 19-Nov-25 13:42:51

It's beautifully clear and sunny now. Still a smattering on the moors, i can just about see it from here

It was bright, dry and windy here in Somerset, with a cold breeze. There was a man working on scaffolding nearby. Hope he had his vest well tucked in.

Yes there’s been plenty up there this year, apparently. Also Mt Buller . Not being a skier, though, I wouldn’t go there normally. Sometimes ( rarely) we get it on Mt Dandenong but I haven’t seen any recently. Never get it here though a couple of days a year we might get a light dusting of frost early in the morning.

Lovely evening here in Bridgend, South Wales. Just back from a meal out with the neighbours, celebrating M’s 86th birthday. I wish I could look her at 86 😫

I am officially in the South of the country. It was raining when I came downstairs at about 8a.m. but about 9a.m. I glanced out of the window and was shocked to see a blizzard, great chunks of fluffy snow, almost blocking out the view of the local 6th Form College from my living room window. It went on for about twenty minutes then suddenly stopped, but not before my patch of grass had turned white. Totally unexpected and un-forecasted.

Grammaretto Wed 19-Nov-25 22:31:27

Crunchy snow here

Grammaretto Wed 19-Nov-25 22:31:49

In the Scottish Borders

BlueBelle Wed 19-Nov-25 22:36:58

East coast No snow at all rain and wind and blooming cold but nothing resembling snow

Margiknot Wed 19-Nov-25 22:55:37

It was snowing heavily when I woke up but turned to sleet around 10? it’s mostly gone now.

Margiknot Wed 19-Nov-25 22:58:50

The stray cat we feed, arrived for breakfast, cowering under the eaves of our barn to avoid the snow- meowing loudly- she looked most unhappy.

i am peeved. When we lived in Berkshire/Oxfordshire, DD, living in Herts, would ring us up to tell us about the snow that was lying in her garden, while all around us was lush and green.

Now all of us have moved to live even further east than Herts, I am reading all about the snow in Berkshire/oxfordshire, while everywhere round here is lush and green.

nanna8 We have made some wonderful family memories around Mt Dandenong.

Our three youngest (now in their 30’s and 40’s) loved Puffing Billy.

It was always our first trip out when arriving in Melbourne, our poor Aussie contingent must be fed up with it.

The new train looks rather scary with your legs outside the carriage 🙀
