An odd sort of day, DH decided to join me on my click and collect mission. Which culminated in finding new sofas and chairs 🤷‍♀️
Came home to see this beauty waiting for us

Decent day for us if tiring. Long hospital stint, a shoulder x ray accomplished, lunch and a walk round the area before an eye session. I was just expecting an injection, instead a full review before the injection. I’m still not used to those stingy drops before the scans. Ouch! Good news, progress can be seen by those wielding bright lights and magnifiers. Excellent news that the next appointment will be nine weeks away rather than four. Hooray.

Oh heck maw the poor little soul. Hope she is much more comfortable now.

That’s my sort of furniture shopping grannyg. A productive trip for sure.

I’m sorry the bugs are back utbb. Definitely best to listen to your body.

I’m trying for sleep now. Special thoughts go to all facing challenges. Night night everyone.

Nannytopsy Fri 12-Dec-25 07:13:10

I hope your DGD is in less pain today Maw. Poor soul.
Cleaning our church this morning and setting up the Christmas tree along with some flowers. Our PCC are generally too old to help much. It’s our Carol service this evening, so wine to mull.
This afternoon it’s another church, to set up our WI Christmas tree at the Christmas tree festival we have organised. I’m not impressed that the joint vicar thought it was a good idea to put both on at the same weekend! I shall be there for a lot of the weekend apart from entertaining SIL and niece, along with our family who she expects to be here to see her! Lunch for 10 tomorrow then. You can probably guess how pleased I am. She ignored my protest that it’s not a good weekend for her royal visit!

Just having a major catch up with everyone. My DF enjoyed her stay and we did manage to get out and about a bit. We dodged a bullet by not going to the Bath Christmas market though, apparently there were queues of 15 minutes to get to the front of some stalls and people shoulder to shoulder ( I get very panicky in crowds, goodness knows why but I do) so I would not have enjoyed it at all. Added into that I can't walk very well now.

Whatever is going on in my hip is deteriorating by the day. I finally had my specialised scan yesterday..it appears that because no hospital in the SW were able to do it, my local hospital applied for accreditation and got it and I was the first to have it done. I am glad ( not only that I didn't have to travel) but also for all the other people who will benefit from it. That alone was worth all the tears of frustration. I'm to have x-rays of my lower spine next Wednesday, I was hoping they could do it yesterday but apparently it is to be done by the lead Radiologist and no one else. Both were marked as to be done urgently so I'm hoping things are moving quickly now and I'll have a date for the op in January.

It can't come soon enough...I have to go up the stairs on my hands and knees just now....and yesterday I was bursting for a wee at the hairdresser's but their toilet is up a set of stairs in full view of the salon and as I was wearing a short skirt ( albeit with thick tights) I held on. DH was waiting with the big gate onto the drive wide open and I did a perfect Miss World walk up the garden and just made it to the utility room apologising to the 3 very excited 'children' on the way. Ho hum.

GG...I miss my foxes ( don't miss anything else from before). They were so tame I could hand feed them and the vixen would bring her new cubs too show me each year. 6pm and there they would be...on the conservatory steps looking in expectantly.

Eek NT....good luck with juggling all that at the weekend. Have you got emergency wine? 🤣

RAndHM.... What a horrible thing to happen just before Christmas too..little ones do heal remarkably quickly though so hopefully she'll be bouncing around again soon.
UTBB....yuk poor you. I really hope you feel better soon.
Redcar. Well done on getting back behind the wheel...I can hardly manage 11 hours let alone 11 weeks and just now it's my only way of getting around.
Brooke.....I hope you DGD enjoys her sleepover...all things pink sounds so familiar. With 4 daughters there was always someone sleeping over....I used to lose track and just do a headcount before I went to bed to make sure...and we never went on holiday without an extra two or 3 friends coming too. I wonder if they remember...probably not but it doesn't matter.
I had a much better birthday on Tuesday...quiet but my overwhelming sadness of last year was not in evidence this year. My attitude to the situation no longer being one of resentment and disappointment but back to one of love for them all has helped no end. A Mother's love is eternal it seems...

I knew it was going to be a huge mistake when DH procured a position at a Motor Home centre..... Next Friday Henrietta MoHo is being upgraded. DH recently sent me a photo of a what seemed to me huge MH....and when questioned said it was so I could see what a fixed bed looked like...( Henrietta MoHo has an area to the rear that is made up into a small double bed). I thought I could shut him up by going and looking at it and then saying no ( on the premise that he couldn't say he was only trying to help me and my hip and I hadn't even bothered to see it). Dear Lovely kitchen grans....it didn't work...next week Maeve arrives.....
Maeve is an Irish name meaning "intoxicating" or "she who rules," derived from the Old Irish Medb, associated with a powerful, legendary warrior queen in Irish mythology known for her strength and beauty, often seen as a symbol of powerful femininity and leadership.

Seems absolutely perfect.... DH face was a picture when I told him...🤣🤣🤣.

Love to all as always. FGT, Dragonfly, Soop you are all in my prayers.

Hello Kitcheners. Not been up to posting much and still in that big black hole.To be fair I’ve had flair up of my PA so not feeling great plus not driving is the pits.!!

DH has just had his blood tests for 3 month check, next the scans. It comes round so quickly and he’s always very anxious till we know the results.

We managed to get a booking at our local Italian restaurant for Christmas Day,(thank you for caring Jax) wish I could get some enthusiasm ,maybe nearer the day.

Hope you feel better soon UTBB.Thinking of you all.I will now crawl back to my corner.

Just very briefly, my Sainsbury’s order has just been delivered and re my Scrooge moment, I ordered What’s on TV to come.
£1:80 for the two week edition.
Just glanced and the print is so small I just can’t read it!!
My eyesight is very poor.
Back to checking the schedule on Sky Go.

Redcar Fri 12-Dec-25 20:09:25

Hello everyone. A mixed day today. I’m waiting for a delivery of something that needs to be signed for, first Royal Mail allege they tried to deliver it at 7 this morning but apparently couldn’t gain access to my house - not sure why not, all the lights were on downstairs and the porch door was open. I was drinking coffee in the lounge. Then they tried while I was out, so hopefully I’ll collect it from the post office on Monday!
Bingo at lunchtime was good, I won £10: and two raffle prizes. Lunch was good too, a glass of Buck’s Fizz with it! We do laugh a lot, which is fun.
I did some ironing when I got home, then collected my meds from the pharmacy.
yiayia I hope you feel better soon and that your DH’s results are encouraging. Great that you managed to get booked in for Christmas lunch at your local Italian restaurant, hopefully you’ll feel more enthusiastic soon.

* utbb* have you got a magnifying glass to read the What’s on TV magazine?

neine sorry that your hip is so painful now, I hope that the operation takes place soon. I like the sound of your new motor home, most of them are really luxurious these days!

I’m so pleased that your birthday was better this year, I remember your post last year and how distressed you were.

jaxjacky I hope you’re not in too much pain this evening and that you are being well looked after.

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Sat 13-Dec-25 01:23:20

Thanks Redcar I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt, hopefully op very soon
Good you’ve booked Yia, I’m most disgusted with myself to be sat in hospital so close to Christmas.
I’ll pop back later x

Usedtobeblonde Sat 13-Dec-25 03:09:11

What have I missed from Jax ?
Why are you in hospital?
I am having a sleepless night after my first outing for two weeks.

Charleygirl5 Sat 13-Dec-25 03:22:40

Jaz please ask any questions on the hips and knees thread and we will answer as quickly as possible. I think you have done a lot of preparation for Christmas but it's not the time of year to be at home, post-surgery.

I have explained in the other thread what can happen surgically. It may be a help or a hindrance.

At least you know that once operated on, you will be out the door quickly. There is nothing like your own bed.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 13-Dec-25 08:01:28

Good morning after a mostly sleepless night.
After reading other threads I now know why Jax is in hospital.
What a time to be incapacitated, although there is never a good time.
I hope your op goes well and you are soon on your way to recovery.
Many of us have had THR’s so can sympathise but I’m sure we can reassure you , I for one made a very good recovery.

I have had a poor night, I went out for a meal with my friend across the road, I must have been very tired, first meal out for ages and I was asleep early but did the usual and woke after two hours to then be awake for at least 4.
I don’t have to be up early but I am out again later for my postponed from last week’s Chinese takeaway with another friend.
I hope I can stay awake.
Kindest thoughts to all and to Jax good luck with the op.

Yiayia4 Sat 13-Dec-25 09:08:06

Good like Jax hope all goes well and you will be home very soon.❤️

Grandmadinosaur Sat 13-Dec-25 09:45:13

I too missed reading about you having to have the THR Jaxjacky but hoping all goes well and wishing you a speedy recovery.

kittylester Sat 13-Dec-25 09:50:25

Good wishes from me too, Jax.

Grannmarie Sat 13-Dec-25 10:03:49

Just popping in from the quiet corner to wish Jaxjacky successful surgery and a speedy recovery. 💐

Thinking of everyone in Soop's special Kitchen, sending love and prayers for all who need/wish them. 💕🙏🕯

mamaa Sat 13-Dec-25 12:12:24

Love and prayers to all who might need them and also hoping that Jax THR has gone well- flippin leaves are so slippy when wet! x

TillyTrotter Sat 13-Dec-25 14:43:51

Warmest wishes to Jaxjacky ,
hopefully the operation has been done now and you are comfortable.

brook2704 Sat 13-Dec-25 15:05:57

Hi kitchen pals
Hoping Jax is doing ok after the op and hoping for an easy straightforward recovery
I’ve been to the hairdressers this morning so my hair is feeling a lot better now. A lazy afternoon is planned, I’m taking the opportunity whilst I can as next week is busy again. There’s DGDs birthday meal, festive classes at the gym, drinks with pals and then a very quick visit to deliver presents to DD1s in Cambridge next weekend. Always the same this time of year. I’ve still one more present to buy for the friend that I see every week, she honestly has got everything so it’ll probably be a nice scented candle as my fall back option.
I’m looking forward to hearing more about your new motor home neine and hoping things improve pain wise for you very soon
Yia 💐
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x
