I hope you both got back to sleep GrandmaBatty & Charleygirl . I was only awake for moments at about 4 so had nearly 8 hours sleep. Amazing - the best night in weeks!
Itās chilly and pouring down again in Suffolk. Sausage rolls to make today for the freezer. Iām off to Cambridge for the day tomorrow to meet a friend to catch up over lunch and swap Christmas presents. Knowing what Cambridge is like, it will be my big coat!
Thinking of all of you in the quiet corner.

Soops warm and welcoming kitchen for kindly folk š
(1001 Posts)Thank you as always to our treasured benefactor soop.
Hot chocolate and warm muffins await, cushions plumped and fire stoked.
Another bitterly cold day yesterday but today will be much warmer.
I may retire to bed until Spring because I have just replaced my outdoor aerial, the central heating system had a rest and now I have been told this object is on its last legs.
Still, Rachel will be helping me on Thursday, so all will be sorted!!! I confess to being a rich pensioner, not on benefits!
I couldn't sleep, so I decided to have a cup of coffee and hope this item doesn't die during use.
Corner sorry to hear you are having family problems.
The quiet corner must be a tad crowded now.
I'm feeling a lot better thank you all. Dgs2 had a good party and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He had one wobbly moment when it all was too much for him but cuddles with mum helped. I was there for most of it courtesy of my aunt and uncle. I've had a quiet evening and an early night. However I don't sleep well and this is one of those nights. I might get up for a cuppa soon. I hope everyone is sleeping!
Lots of chicken meals in the freezer now plus some packets of chicken for two. Now, 2 kg of Greek yoghurt to deal with - another mistake!
A busy morning getting items for 4 different events I am involved with, then sorting out which treasurer owes me what. Then lots of rugby and now Match of the Day. Wolves lost again. Are they going down?
grandmabatty take things easy, keep warm, lots of fluids and paracetamol.
Itās very quiet in here today, I guess everyone is busy!
One of my sons in law came over this morning and changed a lightbulb for me - I couldnāt reach it and donāt do step ladders any more. He also got all the Christmas decorations and the tree down from the loft for me to sort out, also a big box of ācuddliesā most of those went in the bin, even the dog wasnāt interested in playing with them!
grandmabatty I hope youāre feeling better today.
nannytopsy have you managed to cook all the chicken now? I inadvertently ordered a kilo of chicken breasts this week, instead of 4 chicken breasts. Iāve cut them up into manageable pieces and theyāre in the freezer! Iām trying to eat more things from the freezer, but not having much success really.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.
Just found this new kitchen!
Iām turning the light out soon so sleep š¤ tight.
Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok
So sorry to hear about your ongoing family worries corner I hope things settle down and you can put it to the back of your mind for a while
Lots of chicken meals to get through Nannytopsy š we had Friday fish, chips &peas, not from the chippy but oven chips and prepared fish etc so nice and quick and easy.
Iāve been out all day doing a volunteering session, itās really busy just now and theyāre very appreciative of our time but thank goodness it quietens down in a week or so and I can get on with doing other things.
When I got home I started going through the old boxes that weād found in the loft, thereās one special box that had lots of keepsakes from when my children were little. School reports, handmade cards, certificates of achievement etc I even found their old christening robe and the handmade knitted shawl that Iād make 40+ years ago. Goodness knows what Iāll do with it now though. There was also a really interesting school coursework project that DD1 had done, so much intricate work that must have taken hours. I sent her a photo but she doesnāt remember doing any of it! I canāt bear to throw it all away so Iāll make a new box for each of my 3 children and put all their own keepsakes in for them to do something with sometime in the future. As you can see Iām not very good at this decluttering stuff ā¦
Take care grandmabatty hope you feel much better tomorrow š
Gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner x
I'll test for covid in the morning Jaxjacky. I don't think it's that, but want to be sure. I've had a bowl of porridge for dinner and gone back to bed
Good evening everyone. Another busy day cooking. I made the Christmas cake and DH dealt with the chicken from the Tesco order. I meant to order one 1.5kg pack but unfortunately got 2 by mistake. Curry, chicken with cider and apples, chicken pasta sauce with sun dried tomatoes, whole chicken breasts for grilling, pieces of chicken for fajitas ⦠You get the picture!
Covid Grandmabatty? Whatever itās called, I hope it soon pushes off and leaves you alone.
A cold day here too, but a lovely lunch out with granddaughter Imogen, sheās such a joy, we laugh a lot. Home for the grocery delivery, earlier new phones arrived, itās keeping me occupied, MrJ is at bowls.
Enjoy your meal GG13, I had an omelette and veg, Iām sure youāll be dining very differently š¤£.
I hope you soon feel better grandmabatty, colds are miserable arenāt they. Keep warm and hopefully youāll sleep well tonight.
Good evening Kitcheners from a miserable Batty. It's just a cold but temperature, cough, running nose etc are rendering me unhappy. I have no appetite either.I've been in bed most of the day and hopefully it'll be better tomorrow. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.
Redcar I have hard a poinsettia in the kitchen for a week now, I shall get some more during the coming weeks instead of my usual cut flowers
I should be getting ready to go out for dinner with DH and our friends, I stead I am in the bed wrapped in a towel scrolling GN š¹
Enjoy your evening I must dry my hair and get a wriggle on šāāļø
Another bitterly cold day here, but we did have a sunny afternoon. I didnāt risk a walk this morning as it was still frosty.
I had my hair done this afternoon, cut and coloured, feeling less scruffy now. Good to catch up with news of my hairdresserās family and some of the village news.
The poinsettia looks very Christmassy, is there room for a small Christmas tree?
I must get a poinsettia for myself, will need to find a warm home for it. I can usually keep them flowering for several months, but havenāt had one for two years as Iāve been at DD1ās recovering from hip surgery. I shall go OTT this year with sparkly lights etc!
Have a pleasant evening everyone.
Ooh what a lovely festive kitchen- thankyou for opening up Jax- itās warm and cozy in here and the aroma from
the soup and bread are making me feel hungry even though itās bedtime!
Hugs and thoughts to all with worries of whatever kind- Iāve brought a poinsettia and my newly flowering ( pink flowers) cactus- which has thrived on not much care Iām ashamed to say.
It usually lives on the utility room window and gets watered once a week! šø x
Such a difficult meeting, neine, truly heartbreaking.
A rare trip to our local theatre this evening. Mr Cās choice, 60ās popular music mixed with R&B. I loved it. Lifted squashed spirits as more family issues have arrived like a tsunami.
If itās OK Iāll head off to the quiet corner and find a chair. Thereās a lot to think about and unpack. Iām not sure if Iām more sad or angry with external forces. It will pass, of course it will, just take its time.
Night night everyone. Sleep well.
So heartbreaking neine thinking of you š
Catteries can be so varied as I discovered when Tara and the previous cat were alive. It didn't always work out leaving a cat at home and asking a neighbour to care for it. Tara was frequently slightly sick, and when I returned, there were small dollops on the carpet, with a piece of paper towel covering them.
TillyTrotter I would be able to look after my adopted boys and they would be loved and cared for.
Please look after yourselves and hopefully this cold weather will vanish soon.
What a lovely cosy kitchen, thank you, Jax and of course Soop. Iāve brought chocolate liqueurs and a bottomless bottle of Baileyās.
Iām so sorry, Neine. That must have been painful for you.
Very busy here, dealing with various family events. Iām just trying to plough on through everything. Sending love to you all. Xxx
Thanks Jaxjacky, a new, warm & cosy kitchen.
Another very cold day here.
My thoughts are with you all, especially our dear soop, I hope she & MrSoop are keeping warm & comfortable together. x
Charleygirl if your 2 adopted boys could speak they would say āwe want to go to Charleyās where we will be loved and treated like Princesā
They hate it in a Cattery and would much rather stay with you. If only .
Another bitterly cold day, im afraid a lazy one too, apart from up and down to receive parcels, dob needed for crackers āexplosivesā!!
I canāt imagine neine š¢
A wave to the quiet corner šš
Ihope the soops are staying cosy and comfortable in this cold weather.
Oh Yia my poor baby. Very necessary, but he will not understand. He certainly would help me and he would enjoy the cuddles. I have adopted two other cats owned by a GN and I have "known" both since they were kittens. They live a long way away from London but it is only a matter of time.
I hope all the poorlies are feeling better. Keep warm everybody- how long is this weather going to last?
neine so sorry that you had that experience today, but well done for dealing with the situation.
Iām finding it hard to watch the report by the Covid Inquiry but feel I owe it to my DH to watch.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.
