Good morning from Bristol. I haven’t looked out but it isn’t warm.
Yesterday was not my average Monday.
After Tesco,I wrapped enough kitkats to make up 24 presents for each DGD’s lucky dip Advent calendar. I messaged DD, asking if she wanted me to bring the bags to the concert hall with me, she suggested I joined them for dinner. Lovely.
I “staggered” to the bus - the bags are heavy - and got to the house/Vicarage easily.
I found Iris making scrunchies with her mum for one of her friends’ birthdays, both the girls are very sociable, though Iris seems to have kept her primary school friends as well as making new ones, while her sister hasn’t.
The concert was lovely, with all those youngsters singing beautifully. The venue has excellent acoustics, no wonder the BBC uses it - apart from the fact that it is spitting distance from their studios up the road. Some beautiful carols and Christmas songs - there was a gorgeous, very difficult Bach one which I enjoyed hugely.
I was incredibly lucky that a bus was waiting for me; the family only had to wait a couple of minutes for theirs in the opposite direction.
All this gallivanting meant that I was too wired to settle down, so was very late falling asleep. This is why my post is later than usual.
Today, I had thought of going to get some fabric but have decided not to. In the afternoon my neighbour is coming over to have his feet done at the same time as me.
I hope the fgts are in a slightly better place, that everyone else has a gentle day.

Morning from a chilly S Hants, 3 feels like -2 apparently, I saw 2 gritter lorry’s trundling past last night at quiz, couldn’t see their names 🙂.
Yesterday the voluntary phone was fairly quiet, fewer appointments heading into Christmas perhaps, enjoyed quiz although we weren’t placed.
Today the duster will be wafted, I saw a large cobweb on the landing yesterday provoking me into action. It should be dry today with some sun, I’ll sow sweet peas in the greenhouse and order more compost.
Better news from FGT last night, I hope others struggling have a better day today.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. No obvious signs of frost. Rosesandlilac I hope your day goes without incident. It's a long time to be without power. Bellasnana enjoy your catch up. Pantglas enjoy the film.
Yesterday I deposited the boys at school and did half an hour in the library then headed home for a nap. It didn't happen but the lie down helped. In the afternoon, I went back and did another hour in the school library before I picked up the boys again. Dgs2 was cheery but had three bouts of screaming and foot stamping. It transpired he had only had a piece of toast for lunch so he was hungry and that has a bad effect on his temper! Dgs1 got emotional too because he was tired. It was an afternoon of wailing. Things settled down eventually.
Today I will pick them up, take them to school/nursery and come home to clear up the kitchen. I had left it last night because I was so tired. I'm regretting that now! I have a delivery due of a winter look duvet cover. I have mince to cook but might leave that til tomorrow. Have a good day all

Good morning from South Lanarkshire
, I haven’t looked outside yet so no idea what the weather is like.

Yesterday’s lunch was very good. The restaurant was a fairly recently built annex to an older hotel, they’ve made a great job of it, we will definitely go back.

Charity shop today and yarn group this evening so quite a busy day.

Today is the twentieth anniversary of my Dad’s death. It’s also my late Mother’s birthday, she would have been ninety five. I’m thinking of them both today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and very chilly but we are promised a dry sunny day today. Yesterday’s trip to the hospital was slow and wearying. The bus takes forever to get there but at least it stops outside. The X-ray department was busy but they were moving people through fairly rapidly. I stopped off in town on the way back for a quick sortie but didn’t manage to tick a single thing off my list (though I did buy some Christmas cards which weren’t on the list) and then caught the tram the rest of the way home. It’s quicker and more comfortable.
This morning I shall do some laundry and this afternoon it’s a volunteer session at school. I hope to be able to walk there and back if the weather behaves.
Have the best day you can folks

Good morning from Malta where another windy day is forecast with a high of 18°C.

I walked up to the village yesterday and stopped for a coffee. Sat outside even though the wind was a bit chilly and was looking at my phone when I was joined by an old friend and her husband who I don’t see very often.

It was lovely to have company and a chat over coffee although the poor husband looks dreadful having recently had a massive operation due to kidney cancer. He’s on the mend, thank goodness, but has gone very thin.

I’m meeting another friend for coffee this morning which will be lovely.

I bought some Vanish carpet cleaner and I think my smelly rug seems ok this morning. It is quite large and heavy so I wasn’t able to put it outside to air it.

That’s a long time to be without electricity Roses but it sounds as though you are well prepared.

We used to have regular power cuts in the 80’s when I first came to live in Malta and I still have plenty of calor gas lamps left over from those days which come in handy for the occasional cut we get now. I also have a gas hob so can make drinks, food and hot water bottle if necessary.

Hope you all have a good day.☀️

Good Morning from Durham. Still dark, but wet here again - it’s forecast the same all week,
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10am. We meet weekly, but she needs to be a bit earlier today being on dog duty for her DS2 later. I’ve a chiropody appointment this afternoon and a tin of M&S chocolates to leave at the Practice, as I’m not going again until January. A quick whizz around Tesco on my way home and I’ll be done for the day.
Thinking of those GNs who are uneasy or unsettled, those dealing with illness and others caring for their loved ones.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from a dry north Wales - we’re promised a little 🌞 later too so some finishing off jobs in the garden this morning will see it through til Spring.

We’re off to see Nuremberg this afternoon and will polish off the last of the ham and butter bean casserole before going so just cheese and crackers for supper 😋

Hope all medical appointments etc go to plan and no one gets the bug that’s going around - two friends have just caught it, one calling it the worst lurgy she’s ever had 🤢

I shall pop in this evening to see what mischiefs have been occurrin…

Good morning from Lancashire. It's supposed to be dry and sunny today so I might go to the garden centre. My kitchen windowsill is looking very bare so I'm hoping they will have some hyacinths to fill the gap. Last years Christmas tree is still alive but I imagine there will be little creatures now living in the pot so it would be better to leave it outside. I might look at getting another one.

Good morning from south Glos, it’s another soggy start here with overnight rain but it’s going to be a sunny day apparently.
Yesterday I spent the morning doing housework, ironing, tidying out the cupboard under the stairs that gets very untidy and sorting out flasks etc for today’s power cut. Apparently we’ll be without electricity from 8 to 6, what fun…..not 🙄
I have battery lamps etc sorted and we’ll light the wood burner early so we won’t be cold. The novelty will have worn off by mid afternoon I imagine!
We could just go out but I’m happy to literally sit it out!
I finished knitting my small throw yesterday, just need to tidy the ends. I’m quite pleased with it.
I sorted a black bag of books for the charity collection yesterday and I will go through the downstairs bookcase today
for more.
A quiet day ahead.
Best wishes to all 🌹
