Good morning from south Glos, it’s another soggy start here with overnight rain but it’s going to be a sunny day apparently.
Yesterday I spent the morning doing housework, ironing, tidying out the cupboard under the stairs that gets very untidy and sorting out flasks etc for today’s power cut. Apparently we’ll be without electricity from 8 to 6, what fun…..not 🙄
I have battery lamps etc sorted and we’ll light the wood burner early so we won’t be cold. The novelty will have worn off by mid afternoon I imagine!
We could just go out but I’m happy to literally sit it out!
I finished knitting my small throw yesterday, just need to tidy the ends. I’m quite pleased with it.
I sorted a black bag of books for the charity collection yesterday and I will go through the downstairs bookcase today
for more.
A quiet day ahead.
Best wishes to all 🌹

Good morning from Lancashire. It's supposed to be dry and sunny today so I might go to the garden centre. My kitchen windowsill is looking very bare so I'm hoping they will have some hyacinths to fill the gap. Last years Christmas tree is still alive but I imagine there will be little creatures now living in the pot so it would be better to leave it outside. I might look at getting another one.

Good morning everyone from a dry north Wales - we’re promised a little 🌞 later too so some finishing off jobs in the garden this morning will see it through til Spring.

We’re off to see Nuremberg this afternoon and will polish off the last of the ham and butter bean casserole before going so just cheese and crackers for supper 😋

Hope all medical appointments etc go to plan and no one gets the bug that’s going around - two friends have just caught it, one calling it the worst lurgy she’s ever had 🤢

I shall pop in this evening to see what mischiefs have been occurrin…

Good Morning from Durham. Still dark, but wet here again - it’s forecast the same all week,
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10am. We meet weekly, but she needs to be a bit earlier today being on dog duty for her DS2 later. I’ve a chiropody appointment this afternoon and a tin of M&S chocolates to leave at the Practice, as I’m not going again until January. A quick whizz around Tesco on my way home and I’ll be done for the day.
Thinking of those GNs who are uneasy or unsettled, those dealing with illness and others caring for their loved ones.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Malta where another windy day is forecast with a high of 18°C.

I walked up to the village yesterday and stopped for a coffee. Sat outside even though the wind was a bit chilly and was looking at my phone when I was joined by an old friend and her husband who I don’t see very often.

It was lovely to have company and a chat over coffee although the poor husband looks dreadful having recently had a massive operation due to kidney cancer. He’s on the mend, thank goodness, but has gone very thin.

I’m meeting another friend for coffee this morning which will be lovely.

I bought some Vanish carpet cleaner and I think my smelly rug seems ok this morning. It is quite large and heavy so I wasn’t able to put it outside to air it.

That’s a long time to be without electricity Roses but it sounds as though you are well prepared.

We used to have regular power cuts in the 80’s when I first came to live in Malta and I still have plenty of calor gas lamps left over from those days which come in handy for the occasional cut we get now. I also have a gas hob so can make drinks, food and hot water bottle if necessary.

Hope you all have a good day.☀️

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and very chilly but we are promised a dry sunny day today. Yesterday’s trip to the hospital was slow and wearying. The bus takes forever to get there but at least it stops outside. The X-ray department was busy but they were moving people through fairly rapidly. I stopped off in town on the way back for a quick sortie but didn’t manage to tick a single thing off my list (though I did buy some Christmas cards which weren’t on the list) and then caught the tram the rest of the way home. It’s quicker and more comfortable.
This morning I shall do some laundry and this afternoon it’s a volunteer session at school. I hope to be able to walk there and back if the weather behaves.
Have the best day you can folks

baubles Tue 25-Nov-25 06:26:34

Good morning from South Lanarkshire
, I haven’t looked outside yet so no idea what the weather is like.

Yesterday’s lunch was very good. The restaurant was a fairly recently built annex to an older hotel, they’ve made a great job of it, we will definitely go back.

Charity shop today and yarn group this evening so quite a busy day.

Today is the twentieth anniversary of my Dad’s death. It’s also my late Mother’s birthday, she would have been ninety five. I’m thinking of them both today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. No obvious signs of frost. Rosesandlilac I hope your day goes without incident. It's a long time to be without power. Bellasnana enjoy your catch up. Pantglas enjoy the film.
Yesterday I deposited the boys at school and did half an hour in the library then headed home for a nap. It didn't happen but the lie down helped. In the afternoon, I went back and did another hour in the school library before I picked up the boys again. Dgs2 was cheery but had three bouts of screaming and foot stamping. It transpired he had only had a piece of toast for lunch so he was hungry and that has a bad effect on his temper! Dgs1 got emotional too because he was tired. It was an afternoon of wailing. Things settled down eventually.
Today I will pick them up, take them to school/nursery and come home to clear up the kitchen. I had left it last night because I was so tired. I'm regretting that now! I have a delivery due of a winter look duvet cover. I have mince to cook but might leave that til tomorrow. Have a good day all

Morning from a chilly S Hants, 3 feels like -2 apparently, I saw 2 gritter lorry’s trundling past last night at quiz, couldn’t see their names 🙂.
Yesterday the voluntary phone was fairly quiet, fewer appointments heading into Christmas perhaps, enjoyed quiz although we weren’t placed.
Today the duster will be wafted, I saw a large cobweb on the landing yesterday provoking me into action. It should be dry today with some sun, I’ll sow sweet peas in the greenhouse and order more compost.
Better news from FGT last night, I hope others struggling have a better day today.

Good morning from Bristol. I haven’t looked out but it isn’t warm.
Yesterday was not my average Monday.
After Tesco,I wrapped enough kitkats to make up 24 presents for each DGD’s lucky dip Advent calendar. I messaged DD, asking if she wanted me to bring the bags to the concert hall with me, she suggested I joined them for dinner. Lovely.
I “staggered” to the bus - the bags are heavy - and got to the house/Vicarage easily.
I found Iris making scrunchies with her mum for one of her friends’ birthdays, both the girls are very sociable, though Iris seems to have kept her primary school friends as well as making new ones, while her sister hasn’t.
The concert was lovely, with all those youngsters singing beautifully. The venue has excellent acoustics, no wonder the BBC uses it - apart from the fact that it is spitting distance from their studios up the road. Some beautiful carols and Christmas songs - there was a gorgeous, very difficult Bach one which I enjoyed hugely.
I was incredibly lucky that a bus was waiting for me; the family only had to wait a couple of minutes for theirs in the opposite direction.
All this gallivanting meant that I was too wired to settle down, so was very late falling asleep. This is why my post is later than usual.
Today, I had thought of going to get some fabric but have decided not to. In the afternoon my neighbour is coming over to have his feet done at the same time as me.
I hope the fgts are in a slightly better place, that everyone else has a gentle day.

Good morning from a very chilly Torbay although sunshine is promised once it gets its hat on!

Before I began reading the thread properly, the word Nuremberg caught my eye and I thought, “Oh, Pantglas must be in Germany!” until I read your opening paragraph!

Yesterday I enjoyed my exercise class but not the rehearsal because it was in a very cold auditorium interrupted by players going back-and-forth to sort out their costume needs. For some reason, it seemed to take the men a great deal longer than the ladies.

This morning I have a telephone appointment with the pharmacist from our Surgery. I’m hoping she will increase the dose of Felodipine otherwise I shall have to take out shares in Rennies!

Half as good a day as circumstances allow. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning, it’s still pitch black outside, no idea what the weather is doing 🤷‍♀️

The Imp came into us at 6.12am, very happy, he told us he nad made his bed (he had done, and very well)

Decorator is back today, hopefully the last of the gloss will be finished.

Thinking of our poorly friends 🙋‍♀️

karmalady Tue 25-Nov-25 06:41:42

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and dry today

Spontaneously, I decided to tackle the messy worktops in my utility room and I feel happy with the result. I have three cupboards in there that also need sorting, all full with enough cleaning and washing stash in there to help through the cost of living crisis.

Today will be quite low humidity so my first small wash is on, three more small washes today and everything should dry nicely outside

I have to prep and cook a big goulash type casserole today and lots of rice, I will be making ready meals for the freezer. A job for this morning

The sunshine will be lovely today but I will not go to the allotment, the veg are best in the ground at the moment, while I use up what I have in my fridge. Got to keep my sensible hat on.

Have a good day

EkwaNimitee Tue 25-Nov-25 07:13:05

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we are promised a sunny day.
Yesterday was a busy housework morning, in the afternoon I got neither a walk nor any crocus planting. I was put off by the dreary-looking outside and stayed in to clear up various admin items which were more important anyway.
A phone chat with DS1 after dinner and then I watched an interesting program on the last days of steam. A steam engine is so much more charismatic than a diesel or electric engine, I have loved them since a girl and still like a ride on a steam train today. This year it was one on the Isle of Wight.

Today I'm off to the garden centre. One or two boring items to get then I'll have a look for some cheerful houseplants for the festive season. And get a free coffee!
Later, I may start a new book, there's a backlog, there always is as I can't resist buying the things...

Best wishes for a good day for you all.

Good morning from W Kent. Today I am off to London a rare event now to meet my oldest friend. We shall sit and chat for as long as we can but I know she will want to be home before it’s dark. Neither of us are really up to it but we aren’t giving in yet!
Best wishes

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire.

Today I will do the Christmas cards. DH and I will nip out for some specific presents this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Tue 25-Nov-25 07:20:23

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. The house feels cool although the heating is on, so I guess it’s cold outside. A showery day yesterday, more showers forecast for today. I had to wait in for a delivery yesterday morning but went out for a walk after the package had arrived. More deliveries today, so not sure I’ll go for a walk.
I wrapped presents for the granddaughters yesterday, can only do a few at a time and sometimes I need an extra hand to hold the wrapping paper!
grandmattie yesterday’s concert sounds very enjoyable and Christmassy.
grandmabatty I hope your dgs are happier today, the tantrums are very tiring aren’t they!
I hope any medical appointments go smoothly today and that those who are struggling find some relief.
Have the best day possible everyone.

monk08 Tue 25-Nov-25 07:22:03

Good morning all from the Black country.
Visiting a friend who has recently come out of hospital, then hopefully persuade DH to eat out I have a few vouchers would be a shame to waste them.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 25-Nov-25 07:29:35

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and not windy. Alexa tells me it’s 2°C at present rising to 8°C with no rain forecast and sunshine. That’ll do me nicely getting the two buses to Christie’s using my bus pass. I’m really impressed with Machester’s Bee Network! Well done Andy Burnham.

I slept well but woke early. Alexa will sing out my 8am alarm call soon! I will be on my second TIB by then.

I plan to blitz the apartment (vacuum through, mop all floors and clean bathroom) before I set off. This ward is quite strict regarding visiting hours. I got stopped from entering at 1:30pm yesterday and told to come back at 2pm. Fair enough. Other wards have never minded me sitting with Himself for hours, quietly reading by his bedside.

I’m hoping to see continued improvement in Himself. Every time I walk into a ward I’m always ever so slightly nervous about how he will look. This never leaves one does it? 💕

monk08 Tue 25-Nov-25 07:33:36

Good to see you more upbeat this morning FGT may himself continue to improve 💐.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -2°,
Once again, I have had little sleep, due chronic pain and constant coughing.
Despite stopping the medication, my cough is as bad as ever.
Poor DH, having to put up with this.

Yesterday was busy again, I wasted much time chatting with the the drama company director, who had received funding to bring a free show last night to the community.
I taught her husband, so much reminiscing was done. She also informed me that one of their new employees is also a former pupil of mine.

Last night's meeting was very successful with much laughter. Tasks were allocated for our fundraiser and shopping lists written.
The members like to tease me, because I am so rigorous about what can or cannot be done. Basically I am a 🐲

After an early dentist's appointment, I will leave the car at the dentist and DH and I will hop on the bus to Paisley for a fish tea.
I am dreading it. After six months of mouth ulcers, which delayed treatment, I need a bit of work done, including yet another crown.
My appointments are three monthly at the moment.
The cutting machine in our local Timpsons is broken, so I need to get more church keys cut in Paisley and buy a few items for the fundraising tea.
We no longer have a bank in our town, so a visit is also on our itinerary.
It will be a busy morning.

This afternoon, I need to cobble together Scottish singalong sheets and get started on the placemats. We have decided to reserve tables, to prevent a mad dash for tables.😉
There is no rest for the wicked!

I no longer read read Soop, (I can't keep up) but I believe there is good news to be found regarding the FGT's. ♥️

Best wishes to all, who are struggling and for those with plans for today, enjoy.

BlueSapphire Tue 25-Nov-25 07:49:22

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton, but we are promised sunny spells later, 1°C at the moment.

Feeling really annoyed with myself - I bit on something hard yesterday evening and have broken a chunk off the back of a front tooth, luckily it's invisible from the front - that means a phone call to the dentist this morning for an appointment. And probably a large bill!!

Busied myself yesterday afternoon by making mince pies for Christmas - there are now 50 in the freezer! So I hope the family will eat them...

Some washing to do this morning then out to join my walking group after lunch.

Hope FGT2 has a lovely visit with her dear man today, and that he is feeling better. Thinking of you both.

And wishing all a pleasant day.
