So - what do we all think it is? 3I/ATLAS

So a global team of scientists are going to be closely tracking it for two months - as from today.

.....and they're still telling us it's just a comet - even though our planetary defences are about to go up.

All sorts of signs that it isn't a comet - eg changing track at intervals being the main one I guess.

Latest official photo a complete blur - but various amateurs have taken much better ones (ie that show it isn't just a comet). So how are we supposed to trust Earth scientists - when even amateurs are taking better photos than they are and it does seem odd just how bad NASA's photos are?

All sorts of theories coming out - on top of the pretty obvious official "It's a comet". Yeah right.....

My own personal take = it's an interplanetary probe. It's been ducking and diving near our adjacent planets (changing course to do so) and come next month it's our turn.

Makes sense to me - as obviously there are going to be loads of other species out there and lots of them will be more advanced than we are (technology-wise and/or as "people"). We ain't the only cookies on the plate.

To me - as a race as a whole we are very very primitive indeed. There's no doubt of that - considering the number of wars/amount of personal violence/amount of crime going on on Earth just how primitive we are as a race as a whole and it makes total sense to see how primitive our technology still is and, more to the point, how primitive we are generally as a species. Who wouldn't keep an eye on a primitive, aggressive race that was now technologically advanced enough it could manage to launch some spacecraft etc off Earth?

If I were any other species out there in space = I'd be keeping a darn close eye on us too in those circumstances and, seeing all those wars going on, would regard us as a threat. I do hope all nearby resident aliens realise there are some of us that are more advanced/nicer than all these warmongers etc we have on this planet.

Thoughts?

I believe in the Ancient Alien theory. There are many books you can find online to explore this theory! If the Annunaki are watching us they will come back when we have become too arrogant with all the wars that continually happen & arguments between countries threatening nuclear war! I am just sorry that I do not have enough years left to see how they will stop our stupidity! They do still live among us. A way to ‘keep an eye’ on us! Laugh & sneer all you like I have thought this way for the last 60-70 years & being 81 now will not change my mind!

Allira Fri 28-Nov-25 14:38:13

They're not a separate species.
We are they.

sandye Fri 28-Nov-25 14:40:51

Sorry I carn't agree Keepingquiet. We are a very new planet and species. There could be other life much much older than ours that knows how to travel that fast. After all people once said you could not travel faster than walking or you would not be able to breath. They say life has to have oxygen and water, but only life as we know it.

IOMGran Fri 28-Nov-25 14:46:06

Will you all promise that when this turns out to be a big old nothingberg that you'll maybe be a little more rational with posts.

Allira Fri 28-Nov-25 14:49:29

Why?

We know it's a comet, as I pointed out it will be 170 million miles away when it passes so why be rational?

If we can't have some fun, it's a sad day on GN.

CariadAgain Fri 28-Nov-25 14:49:44

I've read about the Annunaki and think the balance of probabilities goes "They did come invading/settling on our planet" - but the tales told about them are they exploited us for their benefit (ie our gold as I recall).

I don't know quite what to think re whether there may/may not be many/if any aliens living amongst us. It would certainly be an explanation as to why people are at such obviously different levels.

I can certainly think of large groups of people on Earth where I wonder whether they are actually "human" - as they just don't seem to function normally mentally (thinks "How many wars are being fought over in an area of the Middle East at the moment - and most of them in that area seem to agree with it?"). I do honestly wonder where some obviously "lower level" people come from and know part of it will be their society indoctrinates them whilst they're still at school and then shoves them into their army compulsorily for a certain length of time thereafter - and some of them come out normal and won't take part in all that landgrabbing/genocide/etc - but many others have swallowed that indoctrination hook, line and sinker and they do. Just what is the explanation for some being normal/human/don't go in for crime or genocide or anything - whereas others (sometimes quite large groups) do go in for things like wars/genocide/stealing other nations resources/etc).

Then there's those individuals in any society (including our own) who think it's okay to lie and/or bully and/or steal and I encounter them/normal people encounter them frequently. I'd say I encounter some of these lower-level people every single day without fail. I guess I could stay at home/not switch on my computer and hopefully I could spend an entire day not encountering any of them in any way. I do wonder where these lower-level people come from so to say - why are they that way?/could "alien" be one possible reason to explain some people being like that? It's one possibility as to why some people are that way - ie they're not quite "people"....

Oh Cariad you really shouldn't believe everything you read.

Been following this 3i/Atlas comet thing for a few weeks now and listening to Prof Brian Cox on YouTube.

He reckons if it is a comet it defies all the laws of energy and quantum physicswe know about.

I love it and really hope it is a close encounter of the third kind. As long as they have not come to completely destroy the planet.

We are doing a pretty job of that ourselves without any other help.

As for NASA. They do know what is going on but they seem to very quiet. Suspiciously so?

As for Aliens being amongst most definitely including all politicians.

That'll be most of us with Neanderthal DNA, probably.
The aliens will be the superior ones.

If they have the intelligence and technology for inter-stellar travel then they will just subjugate us and treat us as we've treated animals for centuries.

Bodach

I tend to regard these sorts of conspiracy theories propounded by people on YouTube and the like as having more to do with getting themselves money-related 'clicks' or 'likes' or whatever than simply portraying the less alarming facts. Of course 'a global team of scientists' are going to be tracking this comet: it's what they do.

Yup, exactly this.

Maybe that's where he came from, and not South Africa!!

According to Professor Brian Cox:

"Just to be clear - given recent drivel on line - Comet 3I/Atlas is a comet, made of carbon dioxide and water ices and bits of other stuff. It is entirely natural in origin, its orbit is as expected and it will whizz around the sun and then disappear off into the galaxy again."

Well that’s a bit different from your interpretation Withnobson - bears more careful reading perhaps or it risks turning into Chinese whispers.

But some of us obviously don't. They seem to believe this stuff. No wonder there is so much anxiety around these days.

We do live in a world where untruth can spread like wildfire and we need to pay attention to reliable sources or we end up believing things which are not reality. I understand that if anyone reads a lot of people all sayin something is true it begins to feel more and more likely. But some things are not true and I have yet to see any convincing evidence that there are aliens living amongst us, or that this comet is a space ship.

Will that be me out then - with the oldest blood group in the world? - ie blood group O (which is the most common one I gather and I think about 50% of us have got that one). Flippin' annoying whenever I look at the blood group diet info. and think "gotta be a load of old **" as it's telling me blood group O should eat a lot of meat - and there's no way that I'm going to start eating meat again (after about 40 years not doing so). I come before my body - obviously.

Where, CariadAgain, do you place youtself in the ‘Lower People’ hierarchy?

petra Fri 28-Nov-25 18:00:14

CariadAgain
How do you know that people you mix with don’t consider you a lower person
It’s quite possible but you’ll never know, will you 🤷‍♀️

CariadAgain Fri 28-Nov-25 18:56:13

Maybe some that are do...

I can certainly think of one person (ex bad neighbour) that might well be telling himself that - as he knows I know (didnt take that much figuring out) that he's a bankrupt. Followed by him giving me one heck of a filthy look in passing when he saw who I was talking to - which he may well have interpreted correctly as "She's just been told that my wife - official owner of their last house - had them both avoiding paying the estate agent their dues when they had sold "her" house for them" I expect the look on my face was a rather amused - and disapproving one - as I was probably very clearly thinking "Just how much else is he going to get up to? and I've just made a mental note added to the list about him".
