White 🐇 rabbits!
Good morning from a stormy Bristol. It isn’t cold, just wet and windy.
“They” have organised heating from hot air blowers for the church. Big, squishy piles about 1st in diameter, were blowing hot air into the building throughout the service. It felt very odd especially as a door had to be left open to accommodate these pipes, so one had hit and cold at the same time. The little children thought it was wonderful. That and the sight of two small steam engines n the driveway. Honestly, the heater thingies looked like rather modern version of the “Rocket”!
When I got home I set about arranging these Advent candle foliage. Such candles are very expensive, so I use plain ones. The biggest is for me, the other two for my neighbours.
Tesco this morning; I need to get stuff for piccalilli so it has time to mature before putting it out.
In the evening, a WI committee meeting before next weeks’ meeting. The committee members are very loud, very assertive; I don’t know if I can change anything, or at least alter some stuff - they are more into their sub groups, like skittles and crafts, with I either don’t like or can’t attend.
I hope that you didn’t wear yourself out, MD, practising your royal status yesterday. My hugs for the fgts. Ditto for the others I haven’t mentioned.

Good morning from Malta where we expect a high of 21°C today.

Yesterday didn’t turn out as planned due to DD3 and the boys arriving fairly early to escape from the house whilst her father in law and husband worked to fix a leak which necessitated smashing the shower tray in the en suite to get at the pipes. It made quite a mess and took a long time.

The boys stayed all day and were both happy. DD3 went off for a couple of hours to do her shopping then picked the boys up around 4.30pm.

Today I must take my car in to get the tyres changed before I dare drive it any distance. These things cause me anxiety. DH used to deal with anything like this and I still fret about having to do it myself.

I also have DD3’s little dog Milo for the day as their cleaner is going to be there. It’s his 5th birthday today, how time flies!

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

RosesandLilac Mon 01-Dec-25 05:46:29

Good morning, a wet and windy hillside here in south Glos, so I won’t be doing anything in the school garden this morning, I have plenty to keep me occupied in the house.
A lovely dog walk in bright sunshine yesterday morning, rather chilly and very muddy in places but so nice to have some sun. The dogs enjoyed it of course. DH said he wasn’t going to the village Christmas Fair so I had to cook at lunchtime then mid afternoon he disappeared!
I thought he’d gone down the garden to fill the bird feeders . It transpired that he did went to the village and eventually returned two hours later. He doesn’t answer his phone so no point in trying to. I wasn’t amused.
His behaviour really is strange at times.
I’m hoping it’ll stop raining for this morning’s dog walk, it’ll be wellies and waterproofs regardless I suspect!
Wishing you all a peaceful day 🌹

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. Not seasonal weather for December! However I prefer it to snow when I have to go out. GrandMattie your advent displays are very pretty. Bellasnana I hope the car business gets sorted.
Yesterday I achieved quite a bit in the house. Lots of cleaning and tidying. Then DD popped in later for the washing (bringing me another pile) and brought the boys who were on good form. Lots of wrestling and giggles. Dd told me that dgs1 is being watched at football by a premier league club! It may come to nothing and he doesn't know but I'm very proud of him. He is obsessed with football.
Today will be early childcare day. Once I've deposited them at school, I'm coming home to make soup. Then I'll go back to school in the afternoon. One of the teachers is looking for support in the library with a particularly challenging group. The Head and Depute have approved of this. Then it'll be picking up time and home. Dd will get the boys later. Have a good day all

Good morning from a windy, soon to be wet Essex coast. Not pleasant, I'm glad I don't have to go out today.
Yesterday we spent a lovely few hours decorating the club and making it look very festive.
Someone recently asked if we have a boat, yes we have a 32ft motor cruiser, DH'S pride and joy.
Admin, washing and housework are the order of the day here.
I hope MD is feeling better today .
Have a pleasant day everyone, best wishes to all xx

Grandmabatty Mon 01-Dec-25 06:04:56

I'm thinking of our grans in South Wales. I hope you stay safe and dry.

Good morning from s somerset, very wet and dark all day

Lovely candle decor GM

Finally, I did all the bits and bobs yesterday and right now my dining table is cleared, I even sorted a bit in my sewing room with lots more to do in there but later. My skirt pattern is cut out but not as full a skirt as I anticipated so the first one will be a denim, which I have cut.

If that A skirt fits perfectly, waist, hips and length, then I will print the full skirt, which is also flat around the waist. I have various wool and wool mix fabrics to choose from. Aim is for warm fluid skirts for cold months

My scandi wooden tree is up and my ornaments are looking lovely on there. Bit by bit I de-cluttered during past years and now have only what I want to keep. Days of fluff and tinsel are over and I go with the flow. Just enough to have a cheery look and attract my eye. No lights on that tree but light comes from a small feature lamp near the base

Today a haircut first thing and a Christmas gathering and lunch with friends. I think I will have to wear my long waterproof mac and overtrousers to get there

It was lovely to read a post from MD yesterday. sheer willpower, a can-do attitude, a role-model

Have a good day

Good morning from a bleak and rainy Black Country.

Lovely sunny day yesterday, so my friend and I had a wander around a Christmas Fayre, and then lunch in a cafe.

Laptop seems to have given up the ghost, it’s not quit 4 years old so out of warranty. Spent all day with a black screen saying it was doing a self repair!

Line Dancing this afternoon. Then this evening going to a Quiz & Fish n Chips night with MrJ’s cycling club.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Aldom Mon 01-Dec-25 06:41:07

Good morning Mick and everyone.
Yesterday was a special day. Friends from my former home in Oxfordshire came to see me. It was so good to see them. They stayed for a light lunch of homemade soup.
This morning I'm going food shopping with my daughter and granddaughter. We will also look round TK Maxx.
I'm very pleased with the hair cut I had at my new salon last Saturday.
My thoughts are with those who are worried, sad or ill. May you have the best day possible.

kittylester Mon 01-Dec-25 07:00:34

Good morning all from a wet and chilly North Leicestershire.

Admin for me this morning - I need to make lists!! DH will be off out to the gym and then a bit of shopping - I have given him one of my lists.

Out for tea and cake this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ashcombe Mon 01-Dec-25 07:02:29

Good morning from a very wet and windy Torbay.

Your hair looks lovely, Aldom. It’s such a joy to find a good hairdresser and it has taken me more than 10 years to find the one I have now who is brilliant! She is both a skilled stylist and good company.

Those Advent arrangements are beautiful, grandMattie.

Sometimes the things we dread turn out a lot easier than expected, Bellasnana.

I hope Marydoll is none the worse for being out.

Move It or Lose It this morning then a rehearsal in costume tonight. Another more experienced director is coming to see how we are doing….!

Wishing everyone a good day. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s raining
We’ve enjoyed a really lovely weekend at DD1s with lots of laughter but we’re heading home to Inverness later today. We’re going into London first for a bit of shopping / sightseeing, although looks very wet so not sure that was such a good idea
Lovely haircut Aldom thanks for the picture
You’ve a wee football star there grandmabatty well done to your DGS
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Mon 01-Dec-25 07:13:04

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dark out, and we’ve had some rain overnight, a wet and windy day is forecast.
It’s the littlest DgD’s third birthday today, she had a family party yesterday, which was fun and noisy.
I must post the Australian Christmas cards this morning, so it will be a damp walk to the post office.

aldom your hair looks lovely. I’m pleased you had a good day yesterday with your friends.

Lovely Advent candle arrangements grandmattie, I’m sure your neighbours will be pleased with them.

Enjoy your lunch karma! marydoll I hope you survived the fundraising event unscathed and aren’t too exhausted today.

I hope those who are feeling under the weather find some relief today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Susan56 Mon 01-Dec-25 07:15:48

Good morning and happy White Rabbits Day everyone from a very wet Northampton. Such a change from the lovely sunny day we had yesterday.

Feeling pleased with what I achieved yesterday; got all the Christmas cards that need posting written, then sat at the laptop, opened Word and did 5 Christmas letters complete with Christmas clip-art; these to friends from my college days and overseas postings plus a teaching colleague who I feel close to but don't see from year to year. Printed them out and was most pleased with the finished result. Then decided to ring two of those friends for a chat which was most enjoyable.
Will finish the rest of the cards today which will be for people I can hand deliver to.

Yoga at 9.30 this morning then our usual coffee afterwards. When I get home I plan on stripping and changing the bed before lunch, and deciding what to have for dinner tonight. I may make a sausage hotpot before finishing the Christmas cards.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Grammaretto Mon 01-Dec-25 07:20:24

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders on this cold December morning.

Yesterday's Scottish story telling to celebrate St Andrew's day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 was excellent and a great start for my new Australian Helper. Songs too about whisky and midges.

Then I scraped the ice off the windscreen and drove into Edinburgh for Advent supper at friends where it was a lively and delicious evening.

Exercise class for me and setting my Helper to do some jobs. I've made a list. 😂 My friend from the North is here until tomorrow and has already cooked for tonight.

DD called in yesterday with her family, bearing gifts. The girls collected the pottery they had made and told me their news. They'd performed in the Feis, the Gaelic music festival. They both sing and one plays accordion, the other the fiddle.

How exciting for your DGS to be talent spotted Grandmabatty 👏

I hope Marydoll is getting better.

Lovely hair Aldom 😍

Have a really good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Good Morning from Newcastle, where it’s rained all night. I’ve had DGS1 since Friday, so I stayed at DD1’s last night, to get him to school on time. I did 15 years of the school run from Durham to Newcastle - 25 miles of gridlock, both ways, every day!
I’m going back home after school drop-off to meet my friend for coffee, I’ve ‘stuff’ to get from Smyth’s and some items to give DD2 later. I’ll do school pick up and DD1 should be home around 9pm, so I’ll hit the road back home again.

Hoping Marydoll and the FGTs are rested.

Best wishes to all. X

EkwaNimitee Mon 01-Dec-25 07:27:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp Carlisle where we have had light rain overnight and more forecast later. It may well be an indoors day.
Yesterday I went out after breakfast for a walk in the park, then home to the papers. Later I looked through my finances and found, definitely, that the government is not doing me any good! I got the bit between my teeth and went through my papers and did quite a bit of culling. I do this every new year, just started early, I felt my halo well polished.

Today, a laundry, bed changing and vacuuming morning to leave the rest of the week freer for better things. Then a walk if possible, otherwise indoor exercise. My strength training is not going well, the box of weights sits looking at me but my conscience is not pricked enough to use it!

Have a good day everyone.

cornergran Mon 01-Dec-25 07:34:51

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet and windy corner of Somerset.

Ventured into town yesterday in bright sunshine, unfortunately the Christmas fair was a disappointment, then it was onwards in search of bits and bobs. When a sudden, heavy shower arrived Mr C discovered his fleece is not waterproof. Oops.

An admin morning for me, ironing this afternoon. Mr C will begin his Christmas jigsaw and I hope do a kitchen clean. An exciting day grin.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Greyduster Mon 01-Dec-25 07:37:02

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very wet South Yorkshire. Going to be a pretty wet week here I think.

Yesterday was mild and dry and I managed to get some laundry done and dried outside. I did a bit of a shop in the morning and then set to preparing lunch for DD and SiL. They wanted to come a bit earlier than usual so that SiL could link his laptop to my tv and watch F1 after we had eaten. I don’t have Sky. DD and I went out for a walk and left him to it. I was extremely tired when they had gone home but I enjoyed their company.

Dentist for me this morning. I hope he will give me a clean bill of health as usual but feel I am living on borrowed time these days!

Have the best day you can folks.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Dec-25 07:44:23

Morning from a wet and windy S Hants, a restless night for me. Bedding to be washed, voluntary phone and I need to chase two ordered presents.
Quiz tonight.
Enjoy London brook and a safe onward journey.

Good morning from a wet and windy W Kent. No cleaner this morning as she is away, I shall do the ironing as usual. We have a U3A lunch today at a local pub associated with Dickens, usually a jolly affair
Best wishes

Kalu Mon 01-Dec-25 07:47:05

Good morning all. Mild but a very wet day predicted for Glasgow.

I enjoyed a day of arranging Christmas decor, also a Scandi, nod to my Swedish, mormor (granny ). candles and lots of white fairy lights to detangle, I must find a better system of packing them away this year. It all looks very pretty with a wreath hanging over the kitchen table. A chilly but dry day, I could also spend some time in the garden, just being out there is therapeutic.

Bellasnanna, I too have had a steep learning curve of doing various things that DH always did, we divided tasks but once I was forced to get things done I realised they were easier to accomplish than I had feared.
Safe journey home Brook

Best wishes to all for a pleasant, smooth day.
