Today a different trip as well , , I am going on a coach trip to Nottingham with a cruse on the Trent which includes a Xmas dinner etc.
There are likely to be others on the coach who I know.
health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone,

I hope you enjoy your day out, Mick. It sounds lovely.

A damp start to the day here, but it doesn’t feel quite as cold, although I haven’t been out yet to check.

The tree looks pretty, Ginny. We put ours up yesterday and I’ll trim it today. The ones for church are due early next week.

Apart from that, the day is fairly empty so far.

I hope your foot feels better after a rest, Greyduster. It’s odd how these pains suddenly appear without any identifiable reason for them isn’t it?

Wishing everyone a good day, and that anyone who has had a Dr appointment has had a satisfactory outcome (thinking especially of you, MD).

Good morning from a grey S E Essex.

I am meeting my sister in London today, we are going to The National Theatre to see Ballet Shoes (Noel Streatfield) a book we both loved as young girls. Off to Brassiere Blanc for dinner afterwards.

I am entrusting DH and the 10yr old to go and choose two real `Christmas trees (one for us and one for DD) last time DH went unaccompanied it didn’t go well…

Wishing you a peaceful St. Nicholas Day 🎅🏻

Good morning all from a dull Black country where we had overnight rain.
Mick enjoy your trip out.
An early Christmas present if Anchor follow through grandMattie.
Posted cards yesterday and wrapped a few presents I think other than clothes for the boys present buying is finished.
Over to the club later with friends.
Well usual full English is calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.

Good morning all and the wind and rain have passed…… for now. Wild last night.

Today is DD’s 47th birthday. She’s coming over for lunch and DGD is going to bring her skin care ‘stuff’to give us a facial..
she’s 10!!! 🤣.
Not sure what else we’ll do . I don’t think footie is on for Dh and ds1 as the pitch will be waterlogged.

Wishing you all a gentle day.🤶

God morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 6°C.

Baub)es that sounds such good fun.

Mick, enjoy your trip.

Yesterday, the e-consult produced a successful result, but not before much faffing about and angst.
I assumed, that by logging on to my NHS INFORM account, I could get started. How wrong I was!.
It was read by the senior partner at 8.10am and five minutes later I was given an appointment. I was stunned.

Once again it was a trainee, female GP, I saw, she was amazing. Kind, gentle and extremely thorough. My appointment was very lengthy, a difference from the usual rushed appointment.
Initially, she talked about sending me to A&E, as a precaution, but I declined.
I have had enough of hospitals recently and this episode has re-ignited the trauma of being in high dependency for six weeks, forty eight years ago, weeks before Christmas. I was only supposed to be in for a few days.
We came to an agreement, that if I deteriorated any more, I would head there immediately. It is only ten minutes away.

I had asked DH not to come, because I could not have coped with his stress at driving in town.
I made the right decision, I had a few close shaves!!
The standard of driving is appalling now.

The downside was, that the trainee could not dsort out the controlled drugs. It must be a partner.
The first appointment is 15th December, so I'm expected to experience horrendous withdrawal symptoms, until it is resolved. I don't think so.
Watch this space!!

Later, I went up to get more steroids, parked in Asda and went to try and cross, at the chemist.
It was then, I saw the blue flashing lights, there had been an accident and Main Street was blocked.
It is a dual, carriageway, with an island in the middle, to allow people to cross.
A police woman was doing a sterling job, getting people to do a U turn, but traffic was building up.
There were no gaps to cross, but as the traffic had come to a standstill, I went between two cars,
The elderly lady in the car, I went in front of, did not see me ( I had on a bright blue coat), put her foot on the accelerator and lurched forward! 😱
Not good for my heart I was tempted to be that angry old lady, seen in cartoons, waving her walking stick in a rage!

The pharmacy staff took one look at me struggling to breathe, got a chair and sat me in the corner. They are always so kind to me.
When I came out, I had the same battle again to cross. It was then I heard shouting. Looking up, I saw the policewoman chasing after a small car, which instead of doing a U run,bas directed, tried to drive through the crash site! They were oblivious. 😱
They then tried to reverse back into the oncoming traffic.
Time for them to surrender their license, I think.

My intention had been to drop of DIL's present, which has been in my car all week. Of course, the way to her home was blocked.
A circumventing route was required.
It took ages, not because of the traffic, but due to the number of people stopping me to compliment me on the wonderful afternoon tea. Apparently everyone is talking about it.
On arriving at DIL's, I found a miserable wee Dollie, she too has an asthma flare up😪

The day got worse. The husbands of two friends have died and last night I took a call saying a friend of DH had died, 😪

Today, I planned to do nothing, but DH wants to bring the trees down from the loft.🙈 and put them in the spare room, where I have laid out all the Christmas presents.😭
If I had any puff, I would run away? 🐢

It has taken two hours to write this. Parishioners are dropping like flies, Covid and this dreadful virus. My phone hasn't stopped pinging with messages and I'm still in bed.
I'm trying to rearrange the weekend rotas, to cover four Masses.

Enjoy all your busyness and trips out.
Dragonfly, I seem to have missed the news of your husband. I pray that he is making some progress.

Best wishes to all. X

I’m sure you will LOVE it! I took my only GD (5 grandsons, but only 1 GD) last January and the theatre was packed and buzzing!

A dismal wet morning which bodes ill for our village festivities, a poor reward for so much hard work by so many people. Feel I will have to brave the elements to show support but am not thrilled at the prospect.

Have just checked on my injured neighbour to know that her sons have the weekend covered and I can stand down. She is coping admirably but one handed is so hard and makes so much impossible. I am booked to pack parcels next week and probably hair washing. The moral of this lesson is do not wear old, comfortable smooth soled shoes in the house; I have binned three pairs!

May the force be with you, Marydoll, hope you can wrest an earlier appointment from the dragon guardians.

Stilllearning Sat 06-Dec-25 09:47:39

Morning from South Lanarkshire, dry and quite bright this morning, Busy day ahead, meeting a friend at a church coffee morning at 11, hair appointment at 12 and then visiting my friend in hospital. That’s 3 weeks now and no progress at all. Very low sodium like you last year Ashcombe but complicated by massive fluid retention. No diagnosis in spite of various scans and she is still extremely ill. Her poor family are distraught

Hope your morning goes well baubles, the concert last night sounds great fun.

Good wishes and thoughts to everyone

Ashcombe Sat 06-Dec-25 10:13:52

That must be a terrible worry for your friend's family, Stilllearning! At the time, my physician summoned my two children who live afar off, but within the UK, to visit because he was so concerned. I think I was lucky that it was picked up early enough to be treated with sodium infusions. It was only after I had recovered that I realised how seriously ill I had been! I hope you find your friend to be no worse today and as comfortable as possible.

A rather late good morning Mick and everyone.
Been busy catching up with emails this morning.
It's lovely that my wonderful circle of friends keep in touch since I moved away.
I enjoyed meeting with the Clergy Widows group yesterday. We go back almost 40 years.
I'm popping over to the doctors surgery this morning as it's their Christmas Raffle/Social event. Drinks and mince pies. I'm a few minutes walk from the surgery. Aren't I lucky! Also, it's an excellent GP practice.
Sunday I shall attend a church Christmas lunch.
My thoughts are with everyone who is finding life difficult for whatever reason. flowers

Good morning from a damp northwest coast.
Last night was the final Christmas concert for the opera co over twenty five miles away and the venue was the very devil to find, even with the sat nag. The traffic through the city very busy and in the rain and dark, not a pleasant journey. It went well however, but I do wish I could be just beamed to unknown places…

I’ll carry on with cards and house stuff today, glad to have no commitments for a change.
Hope you enjoy your trip Mick, I love being driven (by a professional rather than myself!) and often enjoy a coach day trip.
Thoughts to all🌺

Grammaretto Sat 06-Dec-25 10:47:46

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's just beginning to clear.
The coach and boat trip sounds great fun Mick.
I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞 for your maintenance jobs gMattie

I took my freshly baked lemon drizzle cake to the open house this morning only to find that someone else had brought one too!! How very dare they. Theirs had been sliced so I brought mine home to freeze in a huff 🤣😂

This afternoon I have a viewing for the flat though I am minded to take the couple who viewed yesterday. They seemed fine and will only be allowed to stay in the country until early next year.

I have set up two house viewings for myself as well.

My Christmas parcel has arrived in NZ. Hooray.
I shall write a few cards this weekend for the people I seldom see but often think about.

Have a good weekend everyone.

madeleine45 Sat 06-Dec-25 11:15:20

I dont know what is going on as I have typed half a message and it has disappeared so am starting again.

A belated good morning Mick and all GN's from a sunny so far morning but with rain and lots of it promised shortly.

Yesterday I was trying to get some things cleared up and sorted and turned and twisted a bit and pulled my back, so had to give up and leave the mess. I had managed before that to go to the bank and sort out some things and tell them that I was planning to spend quite a large amount on this new buggy sometime soon. These days you have to let them know, or they will think you are money laundering or being conned, which in a way is a good thing , but rather irritating when you are dealing with your own money.

Lots of christmas fairs and so forth this weekend, but wasnt able to go to one last night and this afternoon I am only going to be able to go to the one held in the village hall where I go to play whist, as I know they have chairs that I can use. At least I can join in, buy a raffle ticket and tombola tickets etc and have a cup of coffee and probably a forbidden cake, as it is all in aid of Marie Cure. After the bank I did manage to go to Cafe Nero for a much needed coffee and apricot croissant as a treat. A big group of people, getting bigger by the minute, were obviously having a christmas do and it sounded as though they either sang in a choir together or did some sort of class and had come with their other half to meet up for a general christmas do, So busy and a bit noisy but very nice atmosphere. Wasnt able to go out to a thing I planned to, due to back so that was about it.

By now Mick you will probably be in Nottingham. Hope that you have a lovely time and enjoy your cruise and meal. I used to live in that area and so have been up and down the Trent and the T@M canal and down the river Soar, so I know that area and you should have a lovely time. Just tried to check something and the wretched computer started messing about. Ah well will continue in hopes that it gets through
Karmalady Hope the sewing goes well . do you find the SAD lamp helps a lot/ I am thinking of getting one. NanyJan sorry your trip was spoiled. Ekwanimity I hope your mouth improves. GrandmaBattie sounds as though you all had a good time. Liberty hope you have a more restful day.
Marydoll, what a day you had! It was good that you saw the doctor but the rest of it!! This time of year seems to see a special brand of idiots and selfish lunatics come out from the woodwork. Do hope that you are able to get some medication a lot sooner and feel a bit better.

Hoping that this post has got through and wishing you all a good day and improving health to all those struggling

My first smile of the day Marydoll thank you! It was the tortoise wot did it 😂

Madeleine
Please research lightweight scooters very full before you commit to buying one.
Speak to people who have bought and used them.
They have many advantages as far as transportation but they are very light and so can be unstable, very unstable.
I really hesitate to say this but I don’t want you to make a very expensive mistake.
One may suit your purpose ideally, I truly hope it does but I don’t want you want you to understand just what you are buying and that it is suitable for your use.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 06-Dec-25 14:59:46

“I do want you to”
