Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but with a dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Usual routine as to Bus trip to Bicester ,shop and chat to those I know ,I am tempted to buy some mince pies and a yule log swiss roll cake as well.
Health OK but think new diabetes tablets reduce weight , plus had result of diabetic eye check all clear ,and they will see me in 2 years time and not yearly .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from the the West midlands, a bright, clear day here today, lovely for walking in fact.
Later on today, I shall have a puruse of T-shirt purveyors, in order to buy My lot their much awaited Christmas presents.
The more outrageous, silly or ridiculous the better they seem to like them! I have to say, it's a joy, not having to shop carefully & sensibly. Nearly anything goes as long as it's 100% cotton & free delivery.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. Such a contrast to yesterday’s wild wet weather.

MrB and I have been for our usual walk around the Dock this morning. His Christmas present arrived safely yesterday and I was able to smuggle it into the house undetected! The trousers that I had shortened now fit beautifully

Still nothing from my doctor regarding my recent blood results. It said on the website that the doctor would contact me, I guess I’m not urgent!

I’m thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles, as always.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from sunny Berkshire.
Nice day with DD yesterday, we popped into town by bus, free for me, the King in residence for awards and had a good meal in an olde world pub. I had chicken schnitzel, a favourite of mine and we had an afternoon’s shopping. I bought DD a puffa jacket for Xmas, a fur trimmed wrap for myself and a plant and gift vouchers for my sister and in-laws who I see this afternoon. They live over twenty miles away and it’s nice to be driven by DD.
We had coffee in the nice family department store here, good to see a store thriving. Three department stores have closed in my own town, We just had cheese and biscuits in the evening and relaxed.
I slept through the alarm whilst active DD went for a run.
Hope you are enjoying the show Ash thoughts to the FGTs and all.

My food bin had bounced across the garden and ended up at the shed and I lost my Christmas wreath on the front door. Someone had kindly hung it on the fence. My garden rubbish bin had toppled over but was practically empty so nothing to clear up. Still breezy but not too bad. We did have a power cut last night but it was minimal.

Ashcombe Wed 10-Dec-25 09:40:47

Sorry, that should say matinée on Saturday!

GrannySomerset Wed 10-Dec-25 09:40:28

Been awake since 4.00 am coughing and being generally disgusting, but at least the only person I offend is myself. Have used up my day’s worth of energy bringing in the bins so a very dozy day is inevitable. I almost never get a cold so am all the more put out at feeling so wan but there is nothing I absolutely have to do apart from making a soothing lemon and honey drink (honey from next door but two’s bees so must be extra beneficial) and some desultory reading. Tomorrow must be better.

Ashcombe Wed 10-Dec-25 09:39:42

Ashcombe glad you had a successful performance and are ready for a break and a rest now

Thank you, madaleine and other posters for all the supportive comments recently regarding my play; it’s actually on for the whole of this week plus a matinée on Sunday. No rest until Sunday! 🙄

A later good morning from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; only just got.up!

Had a day at home yesterday as the weather was not good, and put some decorations up in the sitting room, which is now looking quite Christmassy. Still need to do the hall, dining room and front porch which I shall take my time doing today.

I need to get the mini Christmas tree in from the garage - it's the one I used to take to school every year for my classroom, and now it goes in the porch with fairy lights on.

Had to order more re-chargeable batteries from Amazon as I have mislaid the ones I know I've got somewhere. I got two packs last year, but could only find one yesterday.

No other plans for today except update my Sainsbury's order for tomorrow.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Kalu Wed 10-Dec-25 09:11:53

Good morning all. After a such a stormy day yesterday, not such fierce winds but heavy rain is expected for the day in Glasgow.

For whatever reason I was still awake at 4 am.this morning, thinking I could nap later I realised I got dates mixed up and I have a Solicitor’s appointment at noon today….not Friday which was the date in my head! Traffic will be busier at this time of year , trains unreliable so I will taxi into Glasgow and back. Not a day for a wander around town. At least gastric flu has cleared up! Phew.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Gingster Wed 10-Dec-25 09:03:06

Good morning all and it’s mild and bright here in Essex.

Yesterday the roads around here were clogged until midday due to the very serious accident that GG mentioned. Our friend managed to pick up Dh for breakfast where they went to the local golf club. Dh was a member here for years until the stroke so mixed feelings for him being there.

Friend came back for a coffee whilst I was on the phone trying to get a door handle repairer which I was finding impossible.
It’s the downstairs toilet door . You can get in, but have trouble getting out. 😬.
Friend was a builder and set to ,

to try to fix it. He dismantled it and took it home and let us know that he’ll be round of Friday to reassemble it. How kind.,!

Today I’ll meet my friend for coffee, do some shopping and then meet up with ‘my lovely girl’ for lunch. It won’t be a long one as she works from home and will need to get back.

I hope you have a trouble-free journey Sar and hope you enjoy your time with your family. They’ll be so happy to have you there.

I know what you mean about Financial Advisers Rosesandlilacs. All very confusing!

Have a good day everyone. 🎄

Aldom Wed 10-Dec-25 08:41:17

A quick, but sincere good morning Mick and everyone.
I'm out for coffee at an old friend's house this morning.
This afternoon I shall make a spaghetti Bolognese and whilst it's cooking, finish writing the Christmas cards. I had to buy more stamps yesterday, so that's around £33 on stamps in total!
Thinking of all who are finding life difficult. flowers

Jaxjacky Wed 10-Dec-25 08:37:38

Morning from a dry, calm S Hants, we had rain and wind yesterday, but nothing extreme.
Safe journey home Pantglas and safe travels to Sar.
My daughter is calling in today and borrowing my car to collect, then stash in our shed, grandsons Christmas bike. She can take her stuffing from the freezer and the festive Radio Times.
I must buy some more wrapping paper, we’ll both tackle that next week - MrJ wraps, I label - it serves to let him know what ‘we’ have bought people 🙂
Have a pleasant day all.

Good Morning from Durham. Wild, windy and raining again today. Grim!
DGS1’s Nativity Performance went well, no stage fright and they all remembered their lines, delivered with gusto!
Unfortunately my dental appointment wasn’t good - drastic work is needed, to begin 5/1. I had hoped I’d outlive my teeth, but that’s not to be.
Meeting my poorly friend today - she still hadn’t started her biologics, as more questions need to be answered. MD I hope you have luck with your e-consult.

Best wishes to all. X

luluaugust Wed 10-Dec-25 08:05:27

Good morning from a damp W Kent.
I drove over to a DF’s yesterday morning and we had a bit of a catch up. She has young GDs and has become very upset by certain aspects of the news, I could only suggest she watched a little less news, not much help.
DH was feeling quite unwell so we gave the U3A a miss and settled down with tea and afternoon tele, we don’t live the high life here.
Today I am having tea with another old friend, she has 10 GC mostly grown up so plenty going on
I hope a new e consult sorts things out Marydoll
Safe travels to all

Liberty Wed 10-Dec-25 08:02:21

Good morning from a dry Suffolk where sun is promised later. It is DGD4’s 14th birthday today and have just heard from DD that the rug ordered for her pony is the wrong size! Well at least she’s old enough for delayed gratification(I hope!).

We call her our wild child but she is a kind and thoughtful girl, sometimes hidden beneath the teenage moods.

Off soon to my final keep fit class for this year followed by coffee with 3 friends from the group. I’ll read your posts later.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Grandmabatty Wed 10-Dec-25 07:59:30

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. The wind has abated and, like you brook, I'll check the garden for damage later. Ashcombe good to hear about your successful performance.
Yesterday I achieved little. I felt quite unwell and lay down between dropping off the boys and picking them up again. They were very good but my feet were so painful and my leg still hurts. Last night wasn't much better and I saw nearly every hour until five.
Today I have nothing planned. If I feel better I'll go to the school library. Otherwise I'll stay home and write cards. Have a good day all.

madeleine45 Wed 10-Dec-25 07:49:21

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark and windy morning in North Yorkshire. Cant see anything yet from the window, but it doesnt feel so cold when opening the curtains. No sound of rain at all although we are promised some showers and by the looks of it a wild day.

I didnt read any messages yesterday or go on line, as I was off and away, going up to check out this very light buggy for the car. Had to previously go into the bank and organise about the money and so forth . Anyway eventually got back up to the shop and quite a difference from the previous trip, as quite a lot of the stock now missing from the shop and that included the one I had been looking at. I had not left a deposit on the thing , because I needed to come away, think about all the pros and cons and make a decision, anyway that was a bit of a nuiscance , because although I had decided to get it, I was looking forward to checking it out one more time. Anyway it was actually the owner of the shop, who was in there, and explained that they had two loads of pallets coming, as they had had a busy time selling much stock, and there was definitely a new one of the type I wanted on the lorry, but due to the christmas period , he could not definitely say when the lorry would arrive. So we ended up sorting all the finance etc out and he will let me know the minute it arrives. Fingers crossed it gets here before saturday, so that I can give it its first outing going round the ice sculptures at Saltburn. Obviously I am not the only one who has decided to get sorted before christmas.

I later got some shopping, and home to do a bit of sorting out and then have a meal and a quick change and then it was off to a local pub, where there was a carol concert, with instruments and sheet music and all joining in, so that was really my first carol concert of this year. Being a singer all my life and moving around, I am used to carols to various tunes, depending on the area you are living in and all sorts of things like that. Racheal who goes to the games night has lived round here for a long time I think, and I was amazed when she said she had never heard While Shepherds watch - to the tune of Ilkley Moor bah at! If you have never tried it, have a go. It goes very well, and at a good pace = which is useful if you are walking round and collects the stragglers up too, It went very well and as you sing the lines, you can have parts, so often as you get to the words flocks by night, then the men repeat those words on a rising note etc. Anyway we stayed for the first half and then across to the games night. I paid the chap for my Carcassone game which he had kindly got for me, but havent opened it yet. So much needs catching up around the place, and check my diary etc etc.

I came back to find my first christmas card waiting for me, and know that I really need to get on with my list. I had stashed some stamps from last year to use, but been told that I cant use them and have to go into the post office to exchange them as they dont have a stripe or something down them.

Another job when I had thought I was being so clever to keep some to avoid having to go into our much too busy post office counter. They closed our big post office and now there is only a counter inside another shop, which at this time of year is of course busy so somewhat of a hassle. I shall make my shopping list for the market, and keep looking in until I see the queue getting down before I join it. Also have to get another prescription ticked off and put in the box, and if the gods are with me, might even get my hair cut. We shall see how the morning goes. So fewer people at the games night, but it enabled me to have a couple of goes at games I have previously only played once, which was good. Tonight I shall go to whist as usual, all being well so that is my day sorted.

Mick Good news with your eyes, hope you can celebrate with a meeting of friends today. Pantglas hope you have a good journey on the way home and search out some warm clothes as you will find a much chillier temperature when you are back. Ashcombe glad you had a successful performance and are ready for a break and a rest now. Bellasnana I wish I still had a cat, they are soothing I find if I am stressed and you will miss your temporary cat when it leaves.RoseandLilac, I have never looked at painting things on line, but used to enjoy using gouache when I did my A level art. In the new year I might look up art things and think of starting again.Granmaretto hope you enjoy today and the weather improves for you.

Wishing a successful day for everyone, may you succeed in whatever you have planned to do today.

brook2704 Wed 10-Dec-25 07:46:39

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark and still sounds windy. Hopefully no storm damage in the garden but will check later
I’m off to the gym today, a repeat of yesterday really with a couple of classes, a coffee, a walk into town followed by the bus home. It’s enjoyable and keeps me busy
Safe travels Sar and Pantglas and everyone else on the move today, remember that sunshine please 😎
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 10-Dec-25 07:42:24

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire.

I have decided to do some Christmas cooking today which will then be put in the freezer - bread sauce, stuffing, etc. I’ve got a pile of ironing and a few more presents to wrap. I should finish off writing the cards too.

It is the Local History Society meeting tonight. There will be mulled wine and mince pies. I think the talk is about pub names!

I’m sorry your medication is causing side-effects Mary D. Five years of anti cancer drugs caused my hair to become very thin and it’s never really improved, plus the gout medication I take hasn’t helped either.

Have a good day.
🪻FGTS .

GrannyGravy13 Wed 10-Dec-25 07:39:47

Good morning, yesterday didn’t go to plan, I was unable to get to Gingster’s side of our main A road due to a serious incident, so my hair didn’t get sorted. I now have an appointment at 8.15am on Friday 🙀

I am off to Lakeside Shopping Centre with DD for last couple of Christmas bits and bobs, along with lunch.

Oh MaryDoll I hope you can get through to the GP and get help.

Sar53 safe journey 😘

monk08 Wed 10-Dec-25 07:35:02

Good morning all from a damp Black country still very windy but at least the rain has stopped.
Toddlers Christmas party today with a visit from Santa. Will see how tired I am before deciding how to spend the rest of the day.
That dress looks very warm and cosy Karma
Marydoll hope you begin to feel a bit better once meds kick in.
Pantglas safe travels.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Grammaretto Wed 10-Dec-25 07:34:56

Ooh Marydoll what a day you had! I hope your meds can work for you. Take it easy today.

ginny Wed 10-Dec-25 07:34:04

Good morning. I up early today too take DD3 for a hospital appointment and hope to avoid too much traffic. I’ll come back later to read all the news.
A busy day as I have WI Christmas lunch and then Craft club Christmas session, although I’ll join them a little late.
A diabetic nurse appointment straight after for me.
Thoughts with those troubled or poorly and a good day wished for all.

Greyduster Wed 10-Dec-25 07:30:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where dawn is just breaking. I slept from ten last night until half past five this morning and then managed another hour on top. Unheard of! Rain was shocking yesterday - made driving scary. We are promised a dry day today.

Writers group at the library this afternoon and a couple of things to collect that I have ordered for Christmas from Argos and M&S while I am there. I shall use the bus today. Not ideal, but at this time of the year there’s nowhere at the mall to park by early afternoon.

Have the best day you can, folks.

harrigran Wed 10-Dec-25 07:30:22

Good morning from a dry NE, for now anyway.
Yesterday the weather was dreadful all day, had to have the lights on all day.
Friend called and asked if I had booked our table for lunch on Friday, I had forgotten and of course when I rang they were fully booked. She managed to find an alternative venue.
Sister and BIL are visiting this afternoon and will take me shopping.
Have a good day.
