Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. Another relatively mild day here.
MrB and I have been for our usual walk around the dock. It seems very quiet. More Santa trains tomorrow so it will be busy enough then!
I spoke to a very pleasant lady doctor yesterday regarding a psoriasis flare up, she has organised a prescription for the necessary treatment and I should be able to collect that later today. However, still no mention of my recent blood results!
I’m thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles, as always.
Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

Good Morning Friday 12th December 2025
(43 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry at the moment in Brackley this morning.
My usual routine bus trip to Bicester do a shop, and speak to people I know.
Being a Friday will go to local Fish & Chip shop at lunchtime .
Quiet day , health wise OK,
Take Care ,
Mick
Good morning from a sunny W Kent. I am more or less sorted out with cards and gifts so just a few bits to do today. We should see family over the weekend but I am leaving veg etc until tomorrow.
I hope your small GD is better soon R&HM.
Best wishes
Most important effort today I must delve down again to find the instructions for the radiators. I am changing them by luck or by crook, cant remember exactly how to reprogramme them at the moment. Ah well hopefully it will turn up
Google is your friend here hopefully madeleine. Put in the make and type of radiator into the search bar. Many appliances now have instruction I for on line nowadays. Good luck!
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Volunteer shift this morning, then a past helper for lunch and my usual Friday night fish from the Eyemouth fish van.
DD's birthday so we've had a long chat on the phone.
GabbyNana that's so sad about the trees.
Sorry you couldn't go to the school concert MD 😒.
Your poor wee DGD Rosiesmaw just before the holidays too.
Yesterday's U3A social was very nice with a quiz, many of us struggling to remember actor's names etc and performances from our "in-house" musicians. Hardly a dry eye in the room with our Bert singing Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash.
The last ceilidh dancing class until January.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Good morning from a dark Black Country where it is raining quite heavily, again!
Wednesday turned out to be a horrible day. Aunt and Niece took Mum out for lunch. Halfway through she had what they thought was a stroke, so called for an ambulance. Then called me who duly drove over there (a good 30 minutes). I parked car on pub car park, and Cousin drove me to A&E.
Long story short, by 2.30am she was admitted to a Ward. I had sat with her all that time till 9am without a wink of sleep. DS came in on his way to work, and stayed with her till DB and SIL arrived. DD came out of school to pick me up and take me back to my car. Stayed at Mums for a while for some sleep but by then I couldn't really sleep, so went to bed last night at 8am exhausted.
Only plans today are to write a few cards, must get cracking on that. Need to do Tax Return too, which I have planned to start on Sunday.
Hope your Granddaughter is out of pain now and heals quickly Maw
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Various tests revealed she either had a stroke but more likely a mini seizure. She seems fine now, and DB & SIL have taken her to their house for a few days. Then we need discussions on what happens in the future, she is 96 soon.
After three days snuffling and coughing at home I need human company and some shopping so will venture out and keep down wind of people at oldies’ coffee morning. Am definitely less disgusting than earlier in the week so think this deplorable cold is diminishing; as I think it’s the first one this century I am allowed to make heavy weather of it!
Sympathy to the injured and the unwell, particularly Mdoll, and hope for some breaks in the rain which looks grimly determined to hang around and make life tiresome.
Good Morning from Durham. No chance of a spectacular sunrise today - it’s pouring down. I’ve hardly slept and feel like a washed out rag, but I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10am, then rushing off to meet DD2 for our usual nail appointments at 1pm. I’m toying with going into Newcastle afterwards for a wander, but I’ll really need to perk up first.
My cards, which have been drastically pruned, were finished off and posted yesterday and I think I have all the gifts I intend to give and only a few left to wrap.
Rosie I hope your little DGD isn’t too upset by her accident. Little ones often seem to handle things better than us oldies.
Thinking of MD and the FGTs today.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning everyone from a bright looking Torbay where we might see sunshine I think.
I’m very late waking up this morning. I think my busy evenings are catching up with me. Last night we were able to put out the full house sign at the theatre, which is always something special for us. It was a lovely audience which lifts the performance on stage.
Today I must press on with cards that need to be posted. I hope those who are travelling arrive safely and those who are ill find some comfort today, especially any young ones like the DGD of RosieandherMaw.
Take care, everyone. ⭐️🎄🎁🧑🏻🎄⭐️
Good morning from a brightening Berkshire. A busy enjoyable day yesterday in London with Winter Wonderland etc. I went on a ride with DD, nothing too vigorous but a virtual reality experience. It was a beautiful sunny day. A look around Covent Garden and one of my favourite shops. Pollock’s toy shop where I have to control myself, so many lovely things.
Popped into the Actors Church then we met my sister for an Italian meal before the Nutcracker which was delightful.
I return to the north today by bus and train. DD working feeling tired, many steps accomplished but all worth it.
Vandalism gabbynana’! Such a pity Rosie thoughts to the FGTs and a pic of the ballet shoes tree at the theatre.
Good morning all from a damp Glasgow, where it is 3°C.
Your poor wee granddaughter, Maw. She must have been in agony,
I did not have a good day yesterday, episodes of nausea and vertigo floored me. My darling Babydoll was a wee star, coming up and giving me cuddles, but mainly to get her extremely snotty nose cleaned. 😉
She wasn't too well, but such entertaining company.
Dollie's mum popped in and was charmed by Babydoll's insistence on dragging her on a guided tour of the mansion Christmas displays.
DD didn't believe, there was a tree in the shower room, until Baby went in and brought out a tiny tree.😂
I couldn't stop laughing, when Papa insisted that Baby should give my germ phobic DIL, a hug and kiss. She does not do snotty toddlers.
We both roared a resounding No, as DIL fled next door to her parents house! 😂
Last night was Dollie's school show. Of course I couldn't go. 😪
I received a video on Whats App of Dollie's performance, from the Parent Council Chairperson, whose husband I taught,
She knew how unwell I was and thought the video would help ease my disappointment.
There are so many kind people in my life. 💕
Today, I have to get my kidney function checked. DH will need to drive me, which has scuppered my plans, once again.😪
How quickly, one loses one's independence.
Everyone has to be masked up at the Surgery.
DIL's sister is a ward manager at our local hospital. She advised me to stay away from A&E, if possible and said I had made a wise decision last Friday, not to go.
The hospital is on code Red and there are no beds available. The wards are full of ^flu victims.
It is actually safer for me to be at home.
It set me thinking. How many of the patients had actually had flu vaccinations.
Before I go out , I have a letter to write in Italian. I am a tad rusty, so I am going to cheat 😱 and use Google translate. We still keep in touch with our friends we made in Rome.
Good luck with all your busyness and best wishes for all our poir grans and their families. 💕
Good morning from a dry Suffolk after a sunny day yesterday.I had a lovely, long chatty lunch with my 3 friends yesterday but was saddened by my visit before that by my visit to my dear friend in hospital.
She is bravely now looking at practical solutions for safe future living and has decided that she needs to consider living in assisted living accommodation in her local town rather than her magnificent huge very rural farmhouse. I shared her sadness at this which has been sprung upon her so suddenly.
I’m awaiting a call from the friend I’m meeting today. She fancies a walk along the beach but we were unsure last night about the weather. She will update herself on the forecast and choose the venue.
Hope today is a good one for all especially those who are unwell including Rosie’s DGD.
Good morning. Dry and still here in N.Bucks.
Decorator will be here soon and will finish the lounge today. We can get cleared up and think about Christmas decorations.
Out for brunch with DD2 whose birthday was yesterday and the other two DDs are joining us us at some point for coffee.
Lot of clearing and sorting to do later.
Thinking of your DGDs Mawand Sar. and others who are poorly.
A good day wished for all.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve no idea what the weather is like as I’m still in bed!
I have yet another hospital visit today! This time it’s a bone density scan. OH will drive me as the parking at Oxford hospitals is appalling. One time I had an appointment with a Dental Surgeon. When I came out OH was still in the queue for the car park.
Have a good day everyone. Thinking of the FGT2S and MaryD especially.
Good morning all.
Dog groomer’s first thing and then meet in our Friday friends for lunchtime drinks.
Still some presents to think about as ordered gifts still haven’t arrived .
Take care all
Good morning Mick and everyone.
I'm going to the surgery for my B12 injection this morning. I'm very fortunate, although I'm tucked away in a quiet cul de sac, I am only a two minute walk to the doctor's surgery.
I hope your granddaughter is pain free by now R&HM.
Yesterday I enjoyed a two hour chat with a dear friend from my former home in Oxfordshire.
My thoughts are as always with all who are worried, sad, in pain or finding life challenging for whatever reason.
Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Had planned to visit another local festive market today but will see how the weather plays out.
Yesterday's catch up with my brothers was good my nephew joined us for lunch before heading back to work.
Over at the club this evening will meet up with friends.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed, enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.
Good morning from a dry NE but forecast is for rain.
It was windy overnight so I didn't put the bin out, need to do that now as recycling fills up quickly.
Going out for lunch with my friend, her kind husband drops us off and picks us up.
My sister sent a photo of herself and my DD and SIL enjoying the Christmas Market and told me where they had eaten, she is very mobile for 85.
Have a good day.
Brook I hope your dgd has a lovely time!
Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton, a fine day forecast, thank goodness.
A good visit to the hairdressers yesterday, but of course, having slept on it, it is all over the place and looking like a scarecrow! I shall try my best with it.
A visit to the charity shop afterwards as I had to wait for my bus resulted in me coming out with a brand new bright yellow lightweight rucksack, which I thought might be good for my Spanish holiday in March.....
Dance classes this morning, then home for a light lunch.
Tonight is our annual neighbours' Christmas dinner - restaurant and taxis booked, dinner choices ordered, traditional turkey for me. Have no idea what to wear!
Wishing all a pleasant day.
Good morning all. Rain of course for Glasgow today but less of it which will be a bit of a welcome break at least.
A Waitrose visit at some point, some never ending admin, renew driving licence which is top of the list and I will have a go at candle making. In waste not, want not mode, I plan to melt down unused wax I didn’t dispose of from previous candles, add a wick, some winter mix essential oil and hope for success. 🕯️
Best wishes to all for a good day.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark and think it’s dry
I’ve a busy day ahead as I’m off to help set up at DD2s this morning as DGD is having a sleepover tonight with a few pals for her upcoming 11th birthday. We’re setting up her bedroom with a couple of extra mattresses on the floor, cushions, bean bags etc and making it look very pink and pretty. She’s very excited. Then this afternoon I’m off out for a Christmas lunch with a group of ladies from the gym that I’ve known for quite a few years so looking forward to that. I’ll be home late afternoon and will probably just flop on the sofa
Sar ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and dry, as far as I can tell. Bellasnana good to hear there wasn't a 'rumble in the jungle ' between the animals! Pantglas I hope you sort things out with your dad.
Yesterday was an early chiropodist appointment which went well if painful. My feet are hyper sensitive because of nerve damage so there was lots of deep breathing while she was working on them. Then I headed to the school library and tidied up and organised a book review display. After that, I decided to go to Tesco for some Christmas presents and a Radio Times. When I came home, the dishwasher went on while I sat and looked at The Radio Times. I can't say I'm too excited about the television schedule but I'll find something to amuse me, I'm sure. After a nap, I wrote the Christmas cards and I'll post them today.
Later on I'm going for an afternoon tea to a garden centre in Stirling with a group of friends. Scapa knows this particular garden centre, I believe! It is the treat of my friend who takes me to ballet. I'm looking forward to seeing them all after quite an absence. I'm driving and haven't driven that far for some time so I'm hoping my leg holds out. I won't need much to eat afterwards so won't be cooking dinner. Have a good day all.
rosies I hope your little granddaughter had some sleep and that she has pain relief for her knee.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s a mild 9 degrees outside. I think we are forecast a cloudy day with showers later. Yesterday I went for my usual walk, then carried on to the post box to post more Christmas cards. I still have a couple more to write, then will need to walk round the village delivering the local cards. I finally had a little drive yesterday, just round the village then on to the next village and home. It felt quite odd to be behind the wheel again but I soon got used to it. My back wasn’t too happy about the different movements but is just stiff today. I’ll leave it a few days before venturing out again.
Today is lunchtime bingo in the village hall, then I need to collect my meds from the pharmacy.
gabbynana how awful of your new neighbours to cut down the trees, could you plant some large shrubs to give you some privacy?
bellasnana I’m pleased that the dog and cat reached a compromise yesterday! Enjoy your leisurely morning!
Thinking of those with mountains to climb and hoping that life gets a little easier for you today.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark but still morning in North Yorkshire. Just listening to the wonderful Bach before 7, a great pick me up , after having been awake for hours. Got a fleece round me as it is decidedly chilly here.
Yesterday we had sunshine and needed sunglasses and it was warm, now its time to fetch out the thermal long johns, you never know what to wear at the moment. One thing about waking early is think most things are on the list and wont be missed off but by the looks of it it will take all day to do the jobs!
Have tried to contact other choir members about the funeral on monday. and so far no reply, so need to get hold of someone to check today as I dont want to be turning up at the wrong time or place etc. Yesterday tried to sort out stamps in the post office but they are too old to use , and I have to go online to sort them out. Far too many to ignore, I used to buy a book or two when I had any spare cash to hoard for christmas cards and have just found some that I forgot!! these days things go out of use before you have got round to them, trying to keep some spares doesnt seem to pay now. Most important effort today I must delve down again to find the instructions for the radiators. I am changing them by luck or by crook, cant remember exactly how to reprogramme them at the moment. Ah well hopefully it will turn up.Today casserole to make and stew some apples which will both free some space in the freezer and mean I have a meal just needing to be warmed up with some jacket potatoes, tonight.
Hope you get your fish and chips today Mick and enjoy them.RosieandMaw poor little GD, hope they have been able to give her some painrelief. Good luck Pantglas getting your dad to do something he doesnt want to. Sometimes being awkward is about the only thing we have control over! Karmalady great news about the job, it will make a positive start to next year.Hope the day goes well for everyone and you all get a little time to yourselves
