Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. I haven’t looked out yet but I don’t hear any wind or rain so that’s a good start.

My visit to the shops was very productive, I think I now have almost everything.

I’m having a facial this morning, a rare treat. I always say I’ll do it more often but never seem to get around to it.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

RosieandherMaw Fri 12-Dec-25 05:32:23

Good morning Mick and all to come.

Well it’s dark here in N Bucks too - sunrise not being due until 8.01 according to the weather map when I believe we are in for rain.
I posted this on Soop’s Kitchen yesterday but wanted to share it here too - the sad sight of my little GD at 3.45 am yesterday in Birmingham Children’s A&E. I believe she dislocated her kneecap at Gymnastics on Wednesday evening. Sounds very ouchy and I could have wept for her.
Final Criminology class today then it’s all stations go for Christmas. Cards written and posted, a few presents yet to wrap and hopefully tidy out and rationalise both freezers as they are bulging at the seams and I don’t know half of what’s in there.
Kind thoughts to all those in pain or distress, and safe travels if you’re on the road.

Good morning from Bristol, where it is damp! I hope it won’t rain later.
My tooth filling only too about 15 minutes as I don’t have an anaesthetic. The dentist congratulated me on staying so very still! Another big bill.
I did write most of my Christmas cards in the end. I print them on A4, then fold them before adding gold. This year it is 3 Wise Men. I still need to write my letter. I’m fed up writing them after about 40 years, so shall probably give it a miss from this year on.
The occasional relief manager is a very kind woman, she really tries very hard to get things done for us, despite having her own estate to look after and working part time. She emailed me asking for a list of name and flat numbers for our residents as she was writing cards for us. How very kind! I helped her best I could.
This morning it’ll be interesting in Spanish class. It would appear that only 2 of us are able to go to the last class. I’m going to persuade Gorka to let us go early. I shall claim seniority as I’m the same age as his mother! 😆
May the coming weekend be filled with calm and happiness. Hugs to the mountaineers, especially fgt, md, df, et al.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Oh, maw, poor little mite.

GabbyNana Fri 12-Dec-25 05:39:46

Morning everyone from Cheshire. Stressful day yesterday as our new young neighbours cut down all the beautiful trees in their garden. We can now see straight into each other’s houses. Not to mention the effect on wildlife. So, waiting for sunrise to see the new bare landscape and feeling quite sad.

Sar53 Fri 12-Dec-25 06:24:44

Good morning from Leamington. I believe we may have some rain today, deep joy !!
Yesterday I saw for myself how S goes downhill very quickly. DD1 took her into A&E at lunchtime, they got back about 6.30.
I met DGD4 from school and cooked dinner for the girls and myself.
DD1 and SIL finally left for their concert in Birmingham about 7. I haven't a clue when they returned as I went to bed just after the girls.
Today SIL will take S for her monthly Biologic injection. They will need to leave about 7.30 as it's an hour's drive.
I'm not sure what DD1 and I will do today.
I found out yesterday that DGD5 has done exceptionally well in a Nationwide maths competition. I am very proud of her.
I'm hoping that you all have a calm and pleasant day, best wishes to all xx

RosesandLilac Fri 12-Dec-25 06:25:16

Good morning, yet another soggy start to the day here in south Glos.
Our financial advisor was supposed to visit yesterday, we were all geared up when he texted to say he was unwell so we had a phone call instead. It didn’t go terribly well because being so deaf and him not speaking clearly lead to an appointment being made for the New Year 🙄
He was doing his best to stop me withdrawing my money, I guess he has to be showing that he’s tried everything first or his boss won’t be happy 😬
I faffed around really for the rest of the day, did a bit of pencil work but I was using the wrong paper so that didn’t go particularly well.
We did have a load of logs delivered and stacked so that’s really good.
Today it’s art group this morning then I guess that I should do some housework later…….if I don’t find something more interesting to do!
Poor DGD Rosie, that must have been so painful.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

Pantglas2 Fri 12-Dec-25 06:31:37

Good morning everyone from lovely dry and dark Wales where I’m about to enjoy the chamberpot once again after making do with a tiddly teacup for ten days 😉

Gosh am I going to be as busy as our busiest bodies on here in the run up to Christmas (think GM, Miss MD, Karma, Susan et al spinning plates left, right, centre, under and over…🤯).

My saving grace is that I have a list…Ive just added on item 12 and that’s just for this weekend! Most things concern my Dad who’s managed to fall out with my brother and his lovely wife who do so much for him (being the nearest)

I can see my diplomatic skills will need polishing on that score as well as putting my nursing hat on - he’s refusing to see a doctor after a week’s nausea and is barely eating apart from corned beef sandwiches 🥪…🤔

Enough of my pity party - some of you have so much more to contend with, ongoing health and care issues with loved ones and I do take inspiration from the sheer doggedness you regale us with daily 💐.

“If they can, I can” is my mantra from here on, thank you all x

karmalady Fri 12-Dec-25 06:31:45

Good morning from s somerset, nice sunny day later

Very sad about the trees*Gabbynana* I feel your pain. First thing I did in my garden was plant 4 trees, all small apple trees as befits a garden surrounded by gardens. Think about putting some trees on your side. Its all about, `ok, so how do I deal with it`

A fulfilling day yesterday and the best news re son in law, he got the job he most wanted, working outdoors in beautiful countryside.

I dozed off at 9, silly me, went into a deep sleep. Upstairs at 10 and woke again at 5. I must have needed it

I need to go and buy a clip top jar, after making my garlic/honey blend for winter my fridge reeks of eau de garlic. Its only temporary while the garlic works its magic and a clip top will sort it

Nothing essential to do today so it will be a do what I like, unfolding day. Exciting, I wonder what I will be doing

Have a good day

Greyduster Fri 12-Dec-25 06:33:41

Good morning Michael and all GNs from still dark South Yorkshire. It looks dry at the moment but not for long. The paths in the woods were not too muddy yesterday but my hip was giving me a lot of grief so it wasn’t too pleasant on the way out but settled a bit on the way back. I had lunch with DD and coffee with my niece before coming home.
School this afternoon - Friday is a short session - I’m usually finished by half past two.
Maw your poor GD! I hope there’s no lasting damage.

Have the best day you can, folks.

karmalady Fri 12-Dec-25 06:35:04

Pantglas you always make me smile

grandMattie Fri 12-Dec-25 06:40:01

pant, im not really that busy; just describe it a lot to show off! 😁

GrannyGravy13 Fri 12-Dec-25 06:43:11

Good morning from a very dark S E `Essex.

Due to the accident and road closures in Tuesday my hair appointment was cancelled/abandoned. My lovely hairdresser managed to fit me in today at 8.15 am, so I need to be up and out just after 7.30am 🙀

Will read your news whilst the high/low lights are taking

See you soon 🤶🎄🎁

kittylester Fri 12-Dec-25 06:45:49

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it is still too dark to see the weather. I think we have rain in the forecast.

Lunch today with DS1, lovely prospect, then Waitrose, not such a lovely prospect.

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Fri 12-Dec-25 06:57:07

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, dry (as yet!) Carlisle.
Yesterday morning was a busy laundry and housework one. After lunch, I kicked ass and went for a walk in the park and was glad I did it. There were lots of water birds about, the swans idly grooming themselves and ignoring us passers by. A few cygnets seem to have gone, the remainder will be chased off by Dad soon enough.
Today I'm into town to collect a prescription. The surgery is taking longer and longer to send them over to the pharmacy and their website is warning of high levels of staff sickness. I hope I'm going to get all my necessary pills before christmas.

GabbyNana, like karma, I feel your pain. The philistines! And like karma, one of the first things I did in my new garden was to plant 4 trees. They don't have to be big ones, mine will probably make 15 feet.
I still feel the pain and anger from the chopping down of the Sycamore Gap tree.

Sar and Maw I hope those Gds of yours recover quickly to enjoy the festivities.
And have a good day everyone if you can.

Bellasnana Fri 12-Dec-25 06:57:27

Good morning from Malta where it’s another dry day with a high of 18°C.

Yesterday was also a lovely day so Milo and I enjoyed our walk.

I need not have worried about having cat and dog at the same time as, after a rather hilarious stand-off reminiscent of a scene from Tom and Jerry, the cat kept out of the way and the dog settled down and was with me until 5pm.

Oh what a sad photo of your DGD Maw 😢. I hope the poor lass recovers soon.💐

GabbyNana how awful to lose all those trees. Why on earth would anyone do that and is it even allowed? 😞

Pantglas, I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, you have a way with words. 😂

I’ve woken rather late but my hair appointment isn’t until 12.30 so I can get up in leisurely fashion. After donkeys’ years of rising at the crack of dawn for children, work, grandchildren etc, I no longer feel guilty for taking it easy.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

madeleine45 Fri 12-Dec-25 07:15:21

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark but still morning in North Yorkshire. Just listening to the wonderful Bach before 7, a great pick me up , after having been awake for hours. Got a fleece round me as it is decidedly chilly here.

Yesterday we had sunshine and needed sunglasses and it was warm, now its time to fetch out the thermal long johns, you never know what to wear at the moment. One thing about waking early is think most things are on the list and wont be missed off but by the looks of it it will take all day to do the jobs!

Have tried to contact other choir members about the funeral on monday. and so far no reply, so need to get hold of someone to check today as I dont want to be turning up at the wrong time or place etc. Yesterday tried to sort out stamps in the post office but they are too old to use , and I have to go online to sort them out. Far too many to ignore, I used to buy a book or two when I had any spare cash to hoard for christmas cards and have just found some that I forgot!! these days things go out of use before you have got round to them, trying to keep some spares doesnt seem to pay now. Most important effort today I must delve down again to find the instructions for the radiators. I am changing them by luck or by crook, cant remember exactly how to reprogramme them at the moment. Ah well hopefully it will turn up.Today casserole to make and stew some apples which will both free some space in the freezer and mean I have a meal just needing to be warmed up with some jacket potatoes, tonight.

Hope you get your fish and chips today Mick and enjoy them.RosieandMaw poor little GD, hope they have been able to give her some painrelief. Good luck Pantglas getting your dad to do something he doesnt want to. Sometimes being awkward is about the only thing we have control over! Karmalady great news about the job, it will make a positive start to next year.Hope the day goes well for everyone and you all get a little time to yourselves

Redcar Fri 12-Dec-25 07:22:58

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s a mild 9 degrees outside. I think we are forecast a cloudy day with showers later. Yesterday I went for my usual walk, then carried on to the post box to post more Christmas cards. I still have a couple more to write, then will need to walk round the village delivering the local cards. I finally had a little drive yesterday, just round the village then on to the next village and home. It felt quite odd to be behind the wheel again but I soon got used to it. My back wasn’t too happy about the different movements but is just stiff today. I’ll leave it a few days before venturing out again.
Today is lunchtime bingo in the village hall, then I need to collect my meds from the pharmacy.

gabbynana how awful of your new neighbours to cut down the trees, could you plant some large shrubs to give you some privacy?

bellasnana I’m pleased that the dog and cat reached a compromise yesterday! Enjoy your leisurely morning!

Thinking of those with mountains to climb and hoping that life gets a little easier for you today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Fri 12-Dec-25 07:25:46

rosies I hope your little granddaughter had some sleep and that she has pain relief for her knee.

Grandmabatty Fri 12-Dec-25 07:25:53

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and dry, as far as I can tell. Bellasnana good to hear there wasn't a 'rumble in the jungle ' between the animals! Pantglas I hope you sort things out with your dad.
Yesterday was an early chiropodist appointment which went well if painful. My feet are hyper sensitive because of nerve damage so there was lots of deep breathing while she was working on them. Then I headed to the school library and tidied up and organised a book review display. After that, I decided to go to Tesco for some Christmas presents and a Radio Times. When I came home, the dishwasher went on while I sat and looked at The Radio Times. I can't say I'm too excited about the television schedule but I'll find something to amuse me, I'm sure. After a nap, I wrote the Christmas cards and I'll post them today.
Later on I'm going for an afternoon tea to a garden centre in Stirling with a group of friends. Scapa knows this particular garden centre, I believe! It is the treat of my friend who takes me to ballet. I'm looking forward to seeing them all after quite an absence. I'm driving and haven't driven that far for some time so I'm hoping my leg holds out. I won't need much to eat afterwards so won't be cooking dinner. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Fri 12-Dec-25 07:33:20

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark and think it’s dry
I’ve a busy day ahead as I’m off to help set up at DD2s this morning as DGD is having a sleepover tonight with a few pals for her upcoming 11th birthday. We’re setting up her bedroom with a couple of extra mattresses on the floor, cushions, bean bags etc and making it look very pink and pretty. She’s very excited. Then this afternoon I’m off out for a Christmas lunch with a group of ladies from the gym that I’ve known for quite a few years so looking forward to that. I’ll be home late afternoon and will probably just flop on the sofa
Sar ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Kalu Fri 12-Dec-25 07:37:18

Good morning all. Rain of course for Glasgow today but less of it which will be a bit of a welcome break at least.

A Waitrose visit at some point, some never ending admin, renew driving licence which is top of the list and I will have a go at candle making. In waste not, want not mode, I plan to melt down unused wax I didn’t dispose of from previous candles, add a wick, some winter mix essential oil and hope for success. 🕯️

Best wishes to all for a good day.

BlueSapphire Fri 12-Dec-25 07:43:13

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton, a fine day forecast, thank goodness.

A good visit to the hairdressers yesterday, but of course, having slept on it, it is all over the place and looking like a scarecrow! I shall try my best with it.
A visit to the charity shop afterwards as I had to wait for my bus resulted in me coming out with a brand new bright yellow lightweight rucksack, which I thought might be good for my Spanish holiday in March.....

Dance classes this morning, then home for a light lunch.
Tonight is our annual neighbours' Christmas dinner - restaurant and taxis booked, dinner choices ordered, traditional turkey for me. Have no idea what to wear!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Grandmabatty Fri 12-Dec-25 07:45:26

Brook I hope your dgd has a lovely time!
