Good morning everyone from rainy Lancashire.

MrB and I have been for our usual walk around the dock. It takes more than a little (actually it’s rather a lot) of rain to put us off. My daily walks are one of the few pleasures I have left to me and they do me so much good.

I’m thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles, as always.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

I had an awful dream last night. I was working in a hotel, and one of the women staff gave me a box, blue and yellow or blue and white, like a banana box and asked me to take it to the man in room 228, but she whispered to me ''Be careful, he's seriously creepy, stay in the hallway.''

I took the box up and very apprehensively knocked on his door while I stood back. The door came flying open as if it had been kicked in, and I shot back with my back against the wall, trembling, and this awful little man came out. Only about 5ft tall, skinny and wearing nothing but a tiny pair of pink briefs, more like swimming trunks.

His short brown hair was as wild as his face. He had the most horrible face, which was quite dark grey as if he'd had a serious illness, while the rest of his body was normal white.

I very nervously handed him the box and squeaked ''Sorry to disturb you, sir, there's a parcel for you. We apologise for it being late, we have only just received it ourselves''..

He took it out of my hands and said ''Oh, that's OK, I appreciate you bringing it up''. His eyes, particularly the right one, were huge and looked like marbles. I was absolutely terrified of him.

Then he came closer, and just a couple of inches from my face said '' I've got something for you, would you like to go into my room to see it?''

At that point, I ran through the hallway screaming, shaking and crying hysterically, while warning 2 middle-aged sisters to stay away from him.

Thankfully, I then woke up!

Have a good one, all of you!

Thank you, Stillearning, exhausted by the cough and bored by trying to keep my germs to myself, but still here, just ever later as I cough and cough and then finally go to sleep at 5.00 am and can’t find the energy to start the day at the proper time. I rarely get colds but when I do they seem to last forever, so I am feeling seriously badly put upon. Compared with so many of our posters I get off lightly and accept that I am making heavy weather of it all, and at least the only person I annoy is myself. Tomorrow will be better, I am sure.

Stilllearning Mon 15-Dec-25 10:23:49

Another good morning from South Lanarkshire. DD2 and DGD4 came over yesterday and got tree and decorations down from the loft and put everything up beautifully, I am really pleased. When they drove home they inadvertently became part of the tractor run baubles!

More card writing this morning, then Yoga and a visit to my friend who has been discharged from hospital and left to her family’s care. It’s a truly disgraceful situation, the hospital should hang its head in shame, I can hardly believe it.

Good wishes to all, hope GrannySomerset is okay?

brook2704 Mon 15-Dec-25 10:20:48

A very late good morning from Inverness where it’s dry and bright
A lovely picture bellas thank you for sharing and I hope the boys both feel better soon
Thinking of you today susan
Jax good to hear you’re up and about, one day at a time
Unfortunately I think I’ve succumbed to some awful virus, coughing, no energy and just feeling generally rotten. Not what’s needed at this time of year so I’m hoping it passes soon. I’ve cancelled a couple of things for today and will see what tomorrow is like
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings

Good morning from a dark and damp northwest coast. Another quiet day yesterday. I didn’t go to my friend’s open mic but carried on messing about with homemade cards for local deliveries.
My iPad is playing up, the storage is full. I had a restless night, woken up by the cat three times. Mind reading on that score would come in handy…
Into town today for bits and pieces my grocery delivery couldn’t provide.
Wonderful crib Bella and thoughts to all🌺

Gingster Mon 15-Dec-25 08:44:17

Good morning all and it’s dull and dreary with showers forecast.
Nothing planned today - still buying, wrapping and sorting presents. 🎁.

Yesterday we enjoyed having db and SIL here for coffee, nibbles and lots of chat. Db is 10 years older than me but still very active and good company.

Dd and DGD popped in before catching the coach to the Polar Express trip, wearing matching pjs . They sent videos and photos which looked festive and magical. 🚂🎅.

What a beautiful crib scene Bella . I hope the little boys recover for the big day. 🙏

Hope all goes well today Susan.🙏.

Take care all 🎄

Good morning from dry and still South Lanarkshire. Yesterday began the same way but the wind and rain soon followed.

I had a lovely day yesterday. DD and two of her children came over and took me and DH out to lunch for my birthday. The other two were with their Dad at the football where, most unexpectedly, their team won.

In the evening DH and I braved the wind and rain to go out to watch the local tractor run. It was wonderful. I felt strangely emotional watching more than fifty tractors, all festooned with Christmas lights, some even had little trees tied on, their horns tooting in turn as they travelled past.

This evening is our charity shop Christmas night out. I’m not sure how many are going but I’ve made my choice from the menu and my Secret Santa gift is wrapped so I just need to decide what to wear.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Georgesgran Mon 15-Dec-25 08:32:25

Good Morning from Durham. Rain is forecast for the whole week here. Today it’s 8am to 9pm.
After yesterday’s visit from DD2 and DGS2, my leg is very painful again - all that getting up and down, I think.
Today a friend and I are visiting another friend to see her new house - if we can find it! She’s well off and I know will be telling us what she paid for everything.

I hope the weather predictions are wrong Mick! Meanwhile, I hope Jax has had a comfortable night and recovery’s going to plan. A sad day Susan

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2 degrees C.

I'm late to the party, another night of coughing and then IT issues this morning.
I cannot get into GN on any device, apart from my PC. I may have to deregister and rergister.

Bella, I love the crib, but of course, as you all know, I do love a crib!

I received a long letter from the very nice respiratory consultant yesterday, regarding my appointment.
He has made an open appointment for me, if I am still struggling and to get my GP to contact him.
Yes we did receive mail yesterday, there is a huge backlog and our postman was working overtime

Once again, my plans for a restful day fell apart.
I was asked to post a video online, made by a parishioner. I was told that the PP wanted it uploaded to as many places as possible, ASAP.
I just about had an apoplexy, when I viewed it. Basically this well intentioned, but naive Parishioner had just done her own thing.
I spent the afternoon and evening dealing with it, including an hour long conversation with another Diocesan Safeguarding Co-ordinator, who agreed with me 100%

Consequently, I am Mary no mates, because I have refused to upload it, until amendments are made.
None of the Social committee are talking to me, because I am making a fuss about nothing. and basically spoiling the fun.
I advised them, that I didn't care, Safeguarding children isparamount and all protocols must be followed.
No harm has been done, thank goodness, it's more to do with a safe online presence for children.

Susan, I will be thinking of you today.💐

This morning, I have a meeting with the P.P, who got an ear bashing last night and who will probably be wearing body armour, when I meet him today. wink

After my meeting, I will stop off at Lidl to see if I can pick up DH's beer, which is on special. I have no replacement credit card yet , so will need to restrain myself! wink

The good news is that today is the last day of antibiotics. I've had four weeks of them. 🤢Hopefully my stomach will recover quickly.
Unfortunately, I am still wheezing and have elephant ankles. I plan to wait a few days and try another e-consult.

I wish dragonfly would post and let us know how she and her husband are.
Nannyjan 💐

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 15-Dec-25 08:22:56

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Usual Monday trip to Waitrose and my cleaner should come this morning.

Just two more presents to wrap, when they’re delivered. All the cards are written, but a few of them need letters which I’ve nearly done.

I may marzipan the cake today. We are getting the tree tomorrow so I’ll busy decorating it. We’re busy on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Younger son is coming for the weekend so I would like the house all Christmassy.

Have a good day. I hope the FGT2S had a good weekend.

glammagran Mon 15-Dec-25 08:17:39

Good morning all. So tired after a terrible night’s sleep. Only about 2 hours.

Did lots of cooking over the weekend with help from the sous chef/pan washer. Lobster (Tesco, frozen) spaghetti on Friday, Spanish chicken and patatas bravas on Saturday largely cooked by DH - I did the sauce for the potatoes and the aioli. Yesterday made moussaka which was very time consuming. I also made chestnut, sausage and sage stuffing for the freezer. Nearly forgot the ramen miso soup but that was easy as used ingredients from Itsu. We tend to eat fairly simple things during the week but usually push the boat out at weekends.

I hope you have an excellent recovery Jax. I was surprised you posted yesterday. I hope you didn’t have to wait too long for your op.

The biscuits your daughter in the U.S. made looked absolutely incredible Bellasnana. What a labour of love.

Your little Saints reindeer is very cute BlueSapphire.

Hoping everyone who is unwell gets better asap.

EkwaNimitee Mon 15-Dec-25 07:45:16

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark Carlisle. It was raining when I went to bed but yesterday's dire forecast of heavy rain and gales didn't happen....just dark clouds all day with a few brief spots and a bit of wind in the afternoon. So much for a yellow rain warning!
I was upset by the news...I was on Bondi beach a few weeks ago when it was packed with folk enjoying a holiday weekend as they were this weekend. You don't expect this sort of horror to be visited upon you like that....though possibly, if you're Jewish, you might.

I got my early dawn walk in, dawn being around 8.30am! Only a few dog walkers about. I came home and did my pile of ironing then read and puzzled the rest of the day away. I have started a new book by a Japanese author. Japanese authors seem to be having a moment, several featured in Waterstone's displays recently. I am liking them.

Today, it's into town for yet another prescription, I was texted by the pharmacy yesterday, a Sunday. It must be the repeat of my mouth emulsion which I'd hoped for days ago. The mouth is still sore and healing rather slowly so hope this stuff speeds things up.
Once back I'll start on the usual Monday vacuuming and laundry then continue my book in the afternoon.

Wishing you all a good day.

ginny Mon 15-Dec-25 07:44:18

Good morning. Dull and a bit damp here but the over night wind has died down a bit.
Got some Christmas decorations up yesterday , will finish today.
I have written a list of all jobs and outings and will work through them steadily., at least I’ll try !
Lunch out with three long time friends today as well.
Kind and gentle thoughts to those who need them and a good day wished for all.

BlueSapphire Mon 15-Dec-25 07:32:36

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton, dry at the moment, but rain expected.

Yesterday was lovely and sunny and not too cold; our rugby match went well, we won 50-5, and saw some thrilling tries. DD and I were warmed by large cups of hot sloe gin toddy.... We were mingling before the match, and ran into one of DD's school friends, who was also an ex-pupil of mine, and had a nice chat, reminiscing about school days in the late 1990s.

No yoga today, so will spend the morning doing some essential household tasks; there is some washing waiting to be tumble-dried, then I need to pay the balance of my Spanish holiday (in March), and then I shall make a start wrapping presents.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

cornergran Mon 15-Dec-25 07:23:54

Morning Mick, morning All from a very wet corner of Somerset.

An excellent family time yesterday included a surprise visit from one of the teenagers. Even managed some photos of family groups, we’ll prize them.

An at home day today. General pottering I think. May remove some dust, there are certainly crumbs to remove around the table, they always make us think of days when a dog was part of the family and we never saw a crumb on the floor.

You sounds to be progressing well jax, soon be home. Hope today goes as well as it can susan and Monday is gentle with us all.

RosesandLilac Mon 15-Dec-25 07:22:59

Good morning, a wet Monday morning here in south Glos but at least I slept well 😊
Nothing much happened yesterday, I did the ironing and unpacked the parcels that had arrived during the week, just a few Christmas bits and one that wasn’t for us at all so I carried it around to the correct recipient the other side of our small estate.
I started reading The Women by Kirsten Hannah; I’m really enjoying it. It’s set during the Vietnam war and is the fictional story of an American nurse working out there.
It’s the first book for many months that has actually grabbed my interest.
I’ve got my coloured pencils out to do some drawing today but not before DH gets the decorations down from the attic and we rearrange the living room a bit to fit the twiggy tree.
Soggy dog walk first, as soon as it’s light - for some reason I have really noticed the darker mornings this year.
I hope that you have a peaceful day 🌹

RosieandherMaw Mon 15-Dec-25 07:22:39

I don’t think wisdom has come into it @ Hmmm

Good morning all from dark N Bucks- sunrise isn’t for another hour then we’ll see. We are pretty close to Midwinter aren’t we?
Still playing catch up with the to-do list and its book club this afternoon so I don’t expect to tick much off!
There’s this sort of lull before Christmas isn’t there? It’s been ages away for so long and suddenly it isn’t - if you see what I mean.
I had a sad phone call from the husband of one of DH’s (distant) cousins yesterday morning to pass on the sad news that the cousin (call her T ) had died last March and apologise for not telling us. Clearly we/I had slipped through the net as they live a distance away and despite the fact that we were all fond of each other, hadn’t met up for some years, certainly not since DH died.. As so often happens I expect T would have been I/c the family address book.
My card must have arrived-addressed to both of them. sad
A lesson re keeping in touch with old friends?
Glad to hear Jaxjacky is making such good progress and sending kind thoughts to all in pain or distress.

karmalady Mon 15-Dec-25 07:21:56

Good morning from s somerset, not nice today, dull dark and wet

I did not sleep very well last night, time to start using my SAD lamp to re-set my circadian rhythm. Only half an hour first thing

I was on my feet a lot yesterday, could not really say what I did but I found plenty to do and just before bed I cleaned a kitchen wall cupboard and my mind was whizzy after that

I am going back into sourdough making but the safer way, I won`t be manhandling extremely hot and heavy dutch ovens. I have worked out a way to just use bake in my breadmaker, it will be experimental for a while but first I need to make a sd starter from scratch. I won`t be doing all that kneading either and have ordered a very special machine, to save my hands

Today I really do want to get on with my knitting, I don`t like picking up after leaving a poorly translated pattern in mid air

I cleaned the stove properly, so that is done and I have made a very nice minestrone. I did not have any carrots nor potato, I used purple top turnips and half a sweet potato and rosemary from my garden, cooking it all with a chunky bit of parmesan rind. Probably the nicest minestrone I have ever made

I think I need to start my winter skirt today, just perhaps tacking down all the pleats this morning. The mojo has gone so a bit at a time will get it made and I want to wear it

Have a good day

Ashcombe Mon 15-Dec-25 07:21:04

What an ornate nativity, Bellasnana It’s like a medieval painting. Beautiful.

kittylester Mon 15-Dec-25 07:16:21

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it doesn't appear to be raining although there is rain the forecast.

I am meeting DS1 for breakfast while DH goes to the gym. We are off to Derby this afternoon to drop off their Christmas presents and spend some time with them as we won't see them until after the 'big' day.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Mon 15-Dec-25 07:15:01

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, I think it’s cloudy out but dry.
Yesterday was a sunny day, DS2 and littlest arrived in the car, her OH and the 7 year old were running here!
I finished writing cards, will post them this morning, then need to deliver the local cards. Wrapped a few more presents, some more to do later. I’ll go into town this morning to get a few more presents, then have to collect a package from my local post office if it’s there!

Safe journey susan I hope the funeral goes as well as can be expected. madeleine I hope the roads to Swaledale are clear for you.
Good luck in sorting out your problem with your doctor aldom, I hope the problem is easily solved.
bellasnana I hope your grandsons aren’t too poorly.

Thoughts to all those who are struggling for whatever reason.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Mon 15-Dec-25 07:11:34

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark here, and it’s going to be a wet day - a wet week by the look of it. Yesterday a surprise visit from DD and SiL filled my morning, but put paid to an early trip to Aldi. When I went later there was no room at the inn so I turned round and came home. I will try again this morning. I did get my tree decorated so I can tick that off the list.
Today I will fit in a visit to the gym once it’s light enough to drive and then see how the day unfolds.
Bellas that nativity scene is wonderful!
Have the best day you can folks.

Grammaretto Mon 15-Dec-25 07:09:12

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very dark still but dry.
I have exercise class followed by a U3A Christmas lunch at the golf club.

Before that I shall be saying goodbye to my lovely helper who has been a joy to host for a fortnight.

Yesterday we went to a friend's Advent at home with food, crafts and music. I made a danish paper star under supervision.

In the evening we watched a silent Charlie Chaplin film accompanied by our brilliant pianist. The town hall was packed.

I hope mum's Carer works out well NannyJan

Also that the boys recover quickly Bella and you don't succumb.

Hope the day goes well for everyone.

luluaugust Mon 15-Dec-25 07:04:33

Good morning from a dark W Kent. A lovely day with DS DIL, DD2 and DGDs who had a good catch up as I hoped. Today my cleaner will come, I am wondering if I will see her again until New Year.
Beautiful picture Bella
Best wishes
