What would you actually like for Christmas?

That my daughter-in-law would start helping more like maybe even bringing the milk in earlier than a week after it’s been delivered🥴

Of course I can say nothing and I don’t also I’m terrified of gifts. I don’t want anything. I don’t need anything. I don’t have anywhere to put anything and folks are going to give you something anyway aren’t they? Yikes I wish folks would listen. I like Christmas lights that makes me happy.

Please don't hit me with remarks about "virtue signalling", because I would like to share my favourite present every year from DD1.
She sends money to Save the Children and I receive a card telling me what has been "bought" on my behalf.
Last year it was a travelling midwife kit used in rural Africa. This year it's a new baby bundle for a child born in a refugee camp.
The thought of a new mum in need of these basics- a towel, nappies, soap, a warm hat, is heartbreaking, but I feel such joy that some little one, somewhere, has these because of me: it makes me quite emotional.

Peace and quiet, due to a innocent comment by a family member, all hells broken out in our family this morning, all my careful planning has now gone out of the window...HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

I always say plants, books or yarn.

Fantasy world: I want DH to still be alive.
Real world: nothing. I have all I need and can buy exactly what I want or do need. So I would like people to stop buying me stuff I don’t want and listen to me saying thanks for the thought but please don’t. Not having to deal with a Christmas and all it entails is the best gift.
It’s socially acceptable to not deal with other traditions and holidays, so why not Christmas?

i'd like my estranged grandaughters (their mum, my daughter, died in 2023) and my estranged son with his two daughters to turn up on my doorstep.
however i don't think that'll happen so i'll just hope that my remaining teeth behave themselves unlike the one which gave me excrutiating pain last year so i didn't get to eat my christmas dinner until a couple of days after boxing day (when i'd recovered from the extraction).

I think for the first time in my life, having had many family Christmases with children, with parents and in laws, oh, and a divorced brother to cater for, I would like to leave with a suitcase and DH and go to a nice warm country on Dec 20th and not come back until Jan 3rd! It's not possible but just for once I can dream.

i don't need anything just a card from my son and family, other than that let me be, i don't bother with christmas, never had but did all the right things when my son was growing up, my mother wants me to spend christmas with her a she is now widowed....last thing i want.

I’m with ginny and feel so fortunate that my family all get on and care about each other. The only thing I can think of that I would like is a bee hotel. Apart from world peace, good health and eternal life. Well maybe not eternal!

Aely: I don’t know how far away your daughters are from you but would you manage to go there by train? I’ve found the Passenger Assistance Service works well when I travel alone, with kindly staff to help me and my luggage to board and alight from trains. They accompany me to other platforms, too, if required and no charge is levied.

What I want, I can never have again but….. some peace of mind would be welcome - and a bottle of Oban malt whisky!

Well, a bit of company on Christmas Day would be welcome. Have you seen the TV schedules? Dire. Elder daughter offered to fetch me to her place and back but there is no way I would let her spend most of Christmas Day driving. Younger daughter lives even further away and they have a small child, so same applies.

However, as far as a present is concerned, I am in the happy situation where I have everything I need and can buy what I want (except company). It could be, and in the past has been, a lot worse. One year, a Christmas box from the Church containing a cabbage, some teabags and similar items was a blessing.

I don’t want anything but to be at home with my beloved.

My DH is getting on a bit and my mobility not good so I would like a small but luxurious cottage with fabulous views and a very good but unobtrusive maid service. Also fabulous meals delivered to order and a comfortable car and chauffeur outside to take us wherever we choose.

For DH and child to reconcile.

I had the car valeted once too.

Not a thing I would regualrly do.

I have never done it before.
I dont go on many proper holidays, so decided I wanted/needed something before the big Christmas rush this year.

Present - garage shelving!
Not on mnay peoples' list. But it will all help with the long- lasting decluttering, of everything, that I have been doing.
