Just listening to this on Classic FM whilst eating my breakfast.

So nostalgic, takes me back to when it first came out when our children were small.

Happy, halcyon days,

Thank you, GoodAfternoonTea, it is still a cherished memory. He is often away now at Christmas time, but the card I chose this year to take away to sea with him features The Snowman and I made him a felt Scottish Snowman. It’s not the greatest rendition you ever saw, but it was made with love! ā¤ļø I’ll try and find a photo of it if I can.

Yes yes yes. The perfect "cartoon": wonderfully primitive art (you can see every pencil/pastel stoke), no dialogue beyond quiet narration, and much beautiful music. One of my fave CD's during the holidays.

I remember watching this for the 1st time on Christmas Eve with my son aged about 3. We were cuddled up on the sofa, he was in his pj’s, all ready for bed or so I thought, - but when the snowman melted towards the end he burst out crying and was inconsolable for ages. Not a great start for a decent sleep before Christmas Day morning!
Despite that emotional
viewing, 40 years later I still love it and every time I watch it I’m transported back to those precious early years as a Mum. ā˜ƒļøā„ļø

I first saw it lying in the sofa in an empty house. Mr C and the children were at my parents home opening presents. I had flu! Loved it then and still do. We have a dvd, out it comes every year in case I miss the re-runs on tv.

I very much prefer the gentle and touching Snowman and the truly heartrending Ethel and Ernest than some of the violent films that are often shown at Christmas.

What a lovely snowman. Your son will be delighted and keep him somewhere safe on his travels.

Took my kids to see the stage version of The Snowman many years ago. We all loved it, and at the end, a little boy in front of us was sobbing his heart out.

I loved Father Christmas best, all the old-fashioned domestic details and his, ā€˜Hello Dog’, ā€˜ Hello Cat’, ā€˜Hello Deers’.
