It’s unlikely that the TV will be switched on for us on the day but if it was Mrs Brown would not be on the list.

It is IMHO just not in the slightest bit funny.

Who watches it?

Do you find it funny AIBU?

We also saw it in theatres years ago and laughed 'til we cried but can't watch it now.

The two Ronnies still has me crying with laughter though.

As for weirdo Walliams, as well as various other questionable behaviours, he performed two Nazi salutes during the recording of the BBC's 2025 Christmas special episode of Would I Lie to You?, drawing criticism. The BBC said the footage would not be broadcast.

I never found him funny at all; he was just plain creepy and leechy.

I could find it incredibly funny if only I could understand what the actor is saying, the one who played Mrs Brown, he seems to mutter, and I can't understand his words!

I feel the same as a lot of people commenting - it was very, very funny at first, but has gone so far downhill I don't watch it anymore.

eazybee Sat 20-Dec-25 09:10:51

I saw the first one and couldn't believe how awful it was and never watched it again.

I agree with other posters it was funny at first but now well past its sell by date. There are several other programmes which are in this tired category as well.

I don't know what's happened to comedy. Most of it is not in the least funny and Mrs brown is one of the worst.

Aveline Sat 20-Dec-25 08:15:08

The comedy of Morecambe and Wise is still funny.

Rocketstop2 Sat 20-Dec-25 08:01:28

We hate it, and that awful jarring laugh he does.

Esmay Sat 20-Dec-25 07:58:36

I'm not a fan and never have been .

Calendargirl Sat 20-Dec-25 07:01:27

So much of what I thought funny years ago is just awful now.

Is it me, the times we live in, PC ?

My late mum used to say when a comedy was on ‘So-called comedians’ and I find myself saying the same.

But then, I used to love programmes like The Generation Game, The Golden Shot, Opportunity Knocks, etc, etc.

Not comedies, but programmes of their time.

I wouldn’t watch them now.

Never could stand Little Britain as I don’t like either Matt Lucas or the now revealed dirty David Walliams

Comedy has its time and I use to roll with laughter at Mrs Brown in the early days but it doesn’t seem a fraction so funny now Perhaps familiarity does really breed contempt

Lovetopaint037 Fri 19-Dec-25 23:39:31

Agree used to very funny but no longer and the swearing just got boring.

ClicketyClick Fri 19-Dec-25 23:36:53

Went to see it at a small theatre in its early days and it was hilarious. Like other, I haven't found it funny for a long time and no longer watch it. True comedy never dies. Nothing could beat Morecambe & Wise and their repeats are still funny today.

nanna8 Fri 19-Dec-25 23:23:23

Not funny- just vulgar. My Irish friend thinks it is appalling. Still, we all like different things and sometimes what we like at one stage of our lives changes. I still think Little Britain is funny even though it is very inappropriate for these times.
‘The only gay in the village’ and that old lady who wees everywhere.

Never have I thought Mrs Brown funny.Quite the opposite.

I don't know if it's because I'm from an Irish family but I used to love it but not now.

We really enjoyed it. The most useful thing was learning to say “That’s nice.”
I’m not sure if we’ll watch it if it’s on this Christmas as I agree it’s past its best.
Drivel? Well it’ll be in good company with a lot of what’s on.

Primrose53 Fri 19-Dec-25 22:21:14

It is shockingly bad and very unfunny.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 19-Dec-25 22:15:02

Like others it was a novelty to begin with and was funny but it is long past its sell by date now.
Needs to be finished and forgotten.

Have never watched it, the trailers put me off.

Agree about ‘Scarborough’, I thought it was good, but dropped after one series.

Exactly this. I’m Irish and I think it’s absolute rubbish. Scarborough was good, disappointing that there was only one series.

I really dislike this comedy, something about it puts my teeth on edge. But enough people must like it for it to be on the telly so much.

Grannynannywanny Fri 19-Dec-25 20:59:38

I saw it on stage about 20 years ago before it was ever on tv. It was hilarious and the audience howled with laughter through the performance. It’s just not funny now and should have been shelved years ago.

It must be the only programme on tv where pretty much the entire cast are from one family. Brendan O’Carroll and his wife, sister, sons, daughter, daughters in law and grandchildren.

Aveline Fri 19-Dec-25 20:47:50

It's quite shocking to see on the BBC in 2025. Just dreadful.

LauraNorderr Fri 19-Dec-25 20:35:27

Awful programme like so much that passes for comedy these days.
