It’s unlikely that the TV will be switched on for us on the day but if it was Mrs Brown would not be on the list.

It is IMHO just not in the slightest bit funny.

Who watches it?

Do you find it funny AIBU?

They all tended to be Ch 4 didn’t they and they don’t seem to be making comedy series these days. I do like Daddy Issues in BBC. I still haven’t watched Derry Girls and plan to watch Green Wing again.

We used to like it when it first came out, but it's just the same things rehashed every time, plus I didn't like it when some of the cast changed .
Many years ago we went to see a live performance, it was so boring I fell asleep, I had had a few drinks before the show which probably helped😂

Where are the funny comedies on tv like The IT Crowd, Father Ted, Red Dwarf, Spaced, Black Books ? A bit off the wall, surreal but funny, we need more of them!

My problem with light entertainment is it seems to attract some self obsessed men, who appear to have no regard for boundaries

A great deal of TV, BBC and commercial is low quality and dumbed down. Even Channel 4 put on rubbish.

Well, maybe viewers enjoy watching light entertainment

After a stressful day I want to be able to switch off my thoughts and just be entertained.

I do not need to be educated every time I turn on a television.

D’accord!
Ever since they decided that it was easier to make programs like Bake Off, Sew off, Paint Off, Cook Off, I’m a celebrity, (Who are you?) or more recently, Strictly, the quality has deteriorated.
Which is why posters say they don’t have a TV, even if some of them do watch stuff on their devices.

Aveline there is a Mrs Brown's Boys film too, but to be honest the best thing about it was the Dublin scenery. I do like bits of the TV programme but haven't watched the recent series. An Irish friend says the books are far better, which I think were about him or perhaps his mum growing up in Ireland. Sadly, I cannot remember the titles, but you could perhaps Google. Apparently the books are meant to be very good.

It's not a film it a TV programme

crazyH Sat 20-Dec-25 14:46:52

No, never liked that Mrs Brown. Never found him funny.

Cumbrianmale56 Sat 20-Dec-25 14:43:48

It was hilarious when it first came out, but has outstayed its welcome.

DollyRocker Sat 20-Dec-25 13:38:02

Yeah, I just don't get it but each to their own.

Awful enough said.

Thanks for enlightening me. I had not heard of the film vbersin of 'Mrs Brown's Boys'. I saw a bit of one episode and found it boring I forget why. So will not waste my time watching the film.
My best friend told me she enjoyed 'Mrs Brown's Boys' , but as everyone knows, even best friends don't share everything in common.

Aveline Sat 20-Dec-25 12:21:46

Caleo Mrs Browns Boys is a very down-market TV programme. Absolutely nothing to do with Queen Victoria

Could someone please enlighten me about the 'Mrs Brown' story you are all talking about.
The 'Mrs Brown' I know is a dramatised history, not a comedy in any sense. One main protagonist dies at the end of the story and the other is left bereft of her best friend.Judy Dench stars as Queen Victoria.

It's Mrs Brown's Boys.

I used to find it funny several years ago but it’s gone by it’s sell by date now.

Each to his own, and everyone is different.
I like Mrs. Brown and the show makes me laugh.

Kate1949 Sat 20-Dec-25 11:22:36

Mrs Brown's Boys.

I still laugh at an occasional of Mrs Brown’s episode, but they are not as good as they used to be.

I found Mrs Brown unpleasant from its start and always switch over if it comes on. I have never liked drag acts and the old granny style drag of Mrs Brown reminds me of programmes like Dick Emery and Les Dawson, which are very dated, and I never found them funny.

I admit very little makes me laugh now. Is it an age thing?

It’s not an age thing. You just haven’t found a comedy that suits your SOH.

Kate1949 Sat 20-Dec-25 10:54:12

I never found Lucas and Williams funny. Back in the day, I never found Monty Python funny.

I love Gavin and Stacey but am glad now it has finished because every dog has its day and am sure if it continued it too would lose its flavour. I also loved Miranda but again am glad it finished on a high.
The only show I find funny today is ‘would I lie to you’.
