I m not surprised he’s a wonderful author and kids love his books but he comes across as a really sleazy individual
He has been dropped because of inappropriate behaviour towards young females Not for the first time either he’s been involved in poor behaviour more than once

I think there’s more to come.
Why did the CEO of Harper Collins resign unexpectedly in October?
Why has Simon Cowell stopped all communication with him on Social Media?

MartavTaurus Sat 20-Dec-25 08:54:07

I agree with all the comments here.
Except he is not a wonderful author.

Grandmabatty Sat 20-Dec-25 08:55:37

He isn't a wonderful author but a popular author with children. Sadly they don't get the nuances and undertones to his books

Astitchintime Sat 20-Dec-25 08:57:02

My DGD read his earlier books some years ago……they’ve grown out of them now. Personally, I’ve not read them and did find his behaviour on BGT uncomfortable and inappropriate.
Can’t help thinking that there’s more to come on DW.

BlueBelle Sat 20-Dec-25 09:38:38

Ok Grandmabatty I get it I have never read his books as my grandkids were too old when they became popular but I went by the fact that they are incredibly popular with kids but if they are as sleezy and nasty as him, but veiled, then that’s even worse and I take back what I said about him being a good author

I also think there’s a lot more to come and let’s hope it does come into the open I could never understand why people liked him or thought him funny and I think it’s got worse as he’s got more famous

Luckygirl3 Sat 20-Dec-25 09:42:47

I avoid watching anything with him in as I too find him creepy. He cannot of course help how he looks - which is creepy - but his sly grin and general sleaziness absolutely do not get my vote.

I've watched many tv programmes with David Walliams and I have never liked his energy or personality. For many years I've often said to myself this man has an underlying persona which one day will be seen . His way of making things lewd or his attention seeking personality I've always cringed at . I don't watch much media news and I've yet to see why his name is suddenly appearing in a negative way . I won't be surprised at anything I read .

BlueBelle Sat 20-Dec-25 09:46:46

Actually I don’t think he’s that bad looking it’s what comes out his mouth and his actions that make him creepy for me, all that business of trying to kiss Simon Cowell on BGT made my toes curl

I thought he was gay, perhaps not.

Perhaps he swings both ways? I've always thought him very sleazy, whatever his sexuality.

Greenfinch Sat 20-Dec-25 09:54:30

Grandmabatty, that’s maybe why my son has never allowed his four to read his books. I offered to buy one last Christmas but he declined the offer merely saying he didn’t like him.

RosieandherMaw Sat 20-Dec-25 10:38:06

Always found him creepy, loathed Little Britain and don’t rate him as a children’s author either. Derivative- trying too hard to be Roald Dahl and failing.

Sparklefizz Sat 20-Dec-25 10:44:45

I've always found him creepy and coarse, and am not the slightest bit surprised at these "revelations" as I've always thought he was hiding in plain sight. I am just surprised it took so long for him to be called out over his behaviour. He was awful on BGT and his comments were embarrassing. I only watched one episode of "Little Britain" and hated it.

He has a 12 yr old son who he co-parents with his ex-wife.

Have started reading several of his books with one GS over the last year, the only one we finished and enjoyed was The Great Grandpa Escape which was sad and funny. Although I’d did feature men pretending to be female nurses 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know anything about about his private life at all because he isn’t really known here. I was given some of his Little Britain cds by a uk relative and I thought they were funny , different. Around 10 years ago now. Nothing on tv is funny now because it is just basic silly comments, usually about sex.

henetha Sat 20-Dec-25 12:03:36

I'm so disappointed in David. I used to think he was wonderful and I loved Little Britain. My grandchildren loved his books and I read some of them myself
But I noticed the show-offiness creep in, and a couple unfortunate remarks. Fame seemed to go to his head and he became sometimes unpleasant.
How very sad to ruin his own talent.

Gummie Sat 20-Dec-25 12:42:17

I've refused to give his books or read them to my Grandchildren for years. I do not know if he has done anything but I've never liked him. Presumably the publishers have some proof or it could be very expensive for them.

BlueBelle Sat 20-Dec-25 12:54:48

In the past he has been criticised for doing nazi salutes and was dropped by BGT for derogative remarks he made about contestants I found him extremely sleazy on BGT pretending to chase and kiss Cowell and lusting after men on the stage
This time it is presumably crudeness to a junior female worker not said wether it was words or actions

I m sure they ll be a lot more come out over the next few days

DollyRocker Sat 20-Dec-25 13:54:31

Creepy and predatory. My friend was having conniptions about him years ago, she'd observed and unearthed stuff about him & she was dead right.

theworriedwell Sat 20-Dec-25 14:24:19

I've never watched him, didn't like Little Britain although I've seen clips but not my sense of humour. Never watched BGT. I know lots of people don't like him but I used to volunteer at a local primary school and would read with the children who found reading a challenge and he got lots of reluctant readers interested in reading.

Thinking back Ronald Dahl didn't do the same as the children never seemed inspired to read a second book of his but they did with DW. Doesn't excuse his behaviour but earns him a brownie point as starting a love of reading is priceless.

He is very popular for a certain age group and with the children I was helping at school he does seem able to engage with boys who are reluctant readers. Obviously the hope is they will firm a habit of reading for pleasure and then move on to other things.

I ve never read any of his books but called him a wonderful author on the back of all the children I know love his books and anyone who can get children reading and enjoying reading gets a tick but not having read them myself I don’t know if they are well written or not
But I do know he oozes sleeze and a very nasty streak
He’s now acting all innocent and saying he’s never been called out for any inappropriate behaviour with young ladies

We aren't his target audience for his books. He is very successful with his target audience.

crazyH Sat 20-Dec-25 14:44:42

Never liked him or Matt Lucas. They are both creepy

WithNobsOnIt Sat 20-Dec-25 14:49:12

Arrogant, slimey creep.
Good Riddance!!!!
