Do you have a recurring ‘worry’ dream?

I do.

It’s always about dishing up food to friends/family. I don’t quite have enough to go round and I end up taking a little off some of the plates to make up a dinner or two, or sharing what is on my plate with someone opposite me at the table.

I had one such dream last night.
I know I’m stressed at present. Sadly my dreams have me agitated.

Do any of you experience similar?

Being in my huge old senior school and not being able to fond my classroom, or back in the Nurses home and not being able to find my room 😬😬

I regularly dream that I am at University and I don't know where to go for classes, what my classes are, I am late handing work in etc.

I did go to University and wasn't a great student. Always on the last minute with handing work in. Probably a guilty conscience.

I have also had dreams about my teeth falling out - along with part of my jaw bone - yuck.

And dreams about trying to drive a runaway car

Oh yes, mine are always toilet related.

No door, no seat, no paper or really dirty.

Me too - then I wake up desperate for a wee! I also have the packing dream where it's the end of a holiday and I have a ridiculous amount of stuff to pack and not enough time. Odd one, that, as we mostly go away in our motorhome so I don't have to pack anything, just drive home!

I don’t like heights and I often dream that I am standing on top of a very high wall and the only way down is to jump. I actually do it quite successfully but I wake up absolutely terrified.

I have two recurrent worry dreams. One is that I am out late at night and don't know how I am going to get home. The other is that I need the toilet and can't find one, or if I can it is totally unsuitable.

Yes, I am walking up a flight of stairs. When I get to the top, I am faced by a two or three foot brick wall that I have to cross to continue walking to whereever it is I was trying to get to.

Another version is walking along a street the slopes gently uphill, but the farther I walk, the steeper the slope becomes until I am forced to stop walking.

I meant - the teacher with the inspector is my dream too...

NannySarge Mon 22-Dec-25 14:25:30

That's mine too! 😂

Mine too, I often wonder what it means. Although to be honest I rarely pass a toilet without using it “just in case”

I retired eight and a half years ago, and I still have this recurring dream where I am still at work, I suddenly remember it is past time to retire, then there is a mad panic clearing out my stuff, organising a leaving do etc. I had it again just last night. Bizarre!

SillyNanny321 Mon 22-Dec-25 13:44:43

Often have the worry dream that I am on a long empty road through a desert. Cannot find my stick & panic as I cannot get more than 2-3 steps without it! Wake up scared until I realise what I am worrying about!

Mine are usually getting lost not finding my way out of somewhere. I dream of someone drowning and unable to save them however hard I try. I have never been brave enough to go on a cruise with water all around me.

I've had this dream many times, with variations. I'm typing a book but all the words are upside down and I have a huge struggle to read it. It's really annoying.

I have the same sort of anxiety dream whenever I am worried about something.
I find myself in a very large building, something like an airport, and I am lost and can’t find my DH or the way out.? I either don’t have my phone on me or it doesn’t work. I spend the entire dream frantically going round and round the building, in and out of hundreds of rooms but I never seem to find him or the way out.

My anxiety dream comes from a very long time ago as a child. My great aunt had been a teacher and had a ford 8 ,BWY 122, which she used driving round to teaching jobs until the speedo had gone round the clock. It had the orange indicators that came up at the side. Well she gave the car to my father and we went all over in it. But in my dream we would be travelling down a steep hill, and then the road opened up at the bottom, and we couldnt stop the car and went into the hole. Of course , none of this ever actually happened, but on occasions over the years even when I was already married with a family of my own, that dream would come up to frighten me and I would wake up sweating and breathing heavily. Not helped by in the recent past sink holes having appeared in Ripon , so that it actually could be something that might happen.

I'd forgotten the lost handbag dream. I used to have that a lot but not recently.

Primrose All good wishes for your son. flowers

Car dreams
Sometimes, no matter how hard i try, I simply can't move my legs to reach the pedals.
Other times, the car simply doesn't have enough power to go uphill.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 21-Dec-25 17:06:42

Primrose I hope all goes well for your son in the NY.
An anxious time indeed for you all. x

Usually am expecting guests imminently and have no food in the house or am still in my PJs, but instead of getting anything done I find myself doing something like a jigsaw puzzle or watching the telly whilst at the same time worrying sick about the situation.

Labradora Sun 21-Dec-25 15:41:28

I used to have
1) being chased so terrified dream ended or changed just as I was cowering in fear of being caught..... always in a particular part of London where I once lived.....
2) the "trying to keep up" dream so having to get to an airport so need to go uphill but it is icy and slippery ; lots if sets of double doors to get through; destination always has more obstacles to reach etc etc
I had a really weird one the other day but I can't remember it.

ClicketyClick Sun 21-Dec-25 15:37:24

Mine are taking GC out and losing them. The losing situation changes but not the sheer panic I feel on waking up thinking it's real. As a child I would dream I was a rabbit hopping faster and faster but getting nowhere.

Oreo Sun 21-Dec-25 15:28:01

That we need to get up and go to the loo? Our brain stopping us from doing the naughty deed in bed?

Nannylovesshopping Sun 21-Dec-25 15:26:03

I’m another toilet nightmarer, always filthy, over flowing, no doors, what on earth does it mean??

Oreo Sun 21-Dec-25 15:20:49

I think the dream about a steep street and dark water is likely to be something seen on tv.
