Mine is Stop The Cavalry (Jonah Lewie?)
I know lots of people really dislike it but I find myself humming it when it’s played on the radio.

Nobody has mentioned loving Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, I can’t think why 😄

I know I said earlier that I coul stand Fairy Tale of New York, seems I’m unusual.
A song about a couple who met with great expectations and ended up broken and disliking each other intensely. Doesn’t seem very much like Christmas to me.

That’s what I think too, it’s basically about a couple of drunks on Christmas Eve.

Kandinsky Mon 22-Dec-25 20:27:04

😂 I’m clearly not paying attention.

Kylie has just released X M A S and got to number one.

I believe in Father Christmas
A spaceman came traveling - best by far for me.

But I like all the usual: Slade / wizard etc.
And Leona Lewis. ‘One more sleep’ is really nice.
They don’t make Christmas songs anymore do they.

Fairy Tale of NY is my favourite followed by All I want for Christmas.

My faves are Bruce Springsteen , Santa Claus is coming to town .
Wham last Christmas and Chris Rea Driving home for Christmas.
RIP so sad to hear that he’s died

Winters Take, David Essex. It’s rather poignant but beautiful.

Soozikinzi Mon 22-Dec-25 18:28:58

Bruce Springsteen singing Santa claus is coming to town. Step into Christmas Elton John mainly because of Gavin and Stacey.

Hedgehog2908 Mon 22-Dec-25 18:20:13

A Spaceman came travelling by Chris de Burgh

Greg Lake "I believe in Father Christmas", but Jonah Lois is a close second and Wham are close third!

I’d forgotten about Greg Lake! I saw him with Emerson, Lake and Palmer at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970.

yvonnebrown29 Mon 22-Dec-25 17:07:54

Greg Lake, I believe in Father Christmas.

Fairy Tale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty McColl

Gaudete by Steeleye Span

River by Joni Mitchell

Santa Claus Is Back In Town by Elvis

Never sure if it's a carol, but I love O Holy Night sung by a strong bass baritone not a warbly woman. Bowie and Bing's Little Drummer Boy and Jim Reeves' C H R I S T M A S.

lizzypopbottle Mon 22-Dec-25 16:44:33

All I want for Christmas is you-ooh baby! I only love it because I have to get up and dance! 💃
