Good morning from s somerset, very windy today

Up early, I wanted to relax before my drive through Monmouth, I don`t like the motorways and don`t like headlight glare. I am packed and ready and will be popping sunglasses on my head before leaving. Today I am going to take a visor for the first time, it may well help with the low sun

I'm also lying in bed waiting for my grandchildren to surface. They're not children now, but Santa still kindly leaves them a pile of gifts.
I will enjoy a cup of coffee while we open presents.
Just the five of us today. I'm at my daughter and son in law's home.
I've just heard someone going down stairs so I'd better get ready to follow soon.
My thoughts are very much with those who are finding life difficult.

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 19°C.

Had a lovely outing with DD3 and the boys yesterday. We took them to the most lovely play place which had various different set ups for them. One room was a miniature supermarket where they could push their trolleys around to do their shopping, then they could try the check out complete with conveyor belt. There was a doctor’s office, a vets (complete with soft toy pets), a restaurant, a building site with all construction vehicles, a post office, fire engine, train, police car, theatre with dressing up clothes. It really was lovely.

The best bit was the cafe where us oldies could sit and watch the little ones whilst enjoying a hot chocolate and a mince pie.

This morning I will go to Mass after which over to DD3 and co for lunch.

It’s dry and just about above freezing here, I’m snug in bed with my coffee.
Yesterday we had a lovely dog walk around the village on bridleways and across fields, it was a bitterly cold wind. I didn’t mind but DH wasn’t happy. I hope we’ll have another good walk today.
A quiet day ahead, I will enjoy the peace and am looking forward to our Christmas dinner later, three bird roast 😋

Christmas can be such a stressful time.

I’ve been awake for a couple of hours , mind working overtime. There is so much pressure on having the perfect day . It’s silly really.

I think it stems from trying to make a magical perfect day when my children were small.

I did remind my daughter about the times when she was single and living at home and clubbing.
I used to fetch her from town after a Christmas Eve night out in the early hours of Christmas Day so I knew she would be safe getting home. Then a full day of hosting.
I don’t know how I did it!

I suppose I was a lot younger then.

I hope we all have a good day and my thoughts are with those that are struggling today

I sympathise about the low sun Karma - the last 45 minutes or so of my drive down yesterday- basically Stonehenge to Crewkerne were facing into the sun especially the last wind-y bit I was often driving with one hand shielding my eyes

No sounds yet from the children, I’m sure it won’t be long before they surface.

We will do gifts and breakfast here then head to Edinburgh to spend the rest of the day with DS and his family.
