Good morning everyone from a dull and grey Northampton, the first morning I have woken up in an empty house since last Wednesday. Just having a mug of tea while listening to the Kings College carol service again. I remember singing in the choir at a Saint Catherine's College (Cambridge) Carol service when I was a student, 60 years ago.....

Family all departed late yesterday morning yesterday, and I did nothing much after that; but I did manage to wash and dry all the towels used by 6 extra people! Will attack all the bedding at some time this week.

Enjoyed watching my team's fantastic rugby win on tv yesterday evening, playing away at Bath and beating them on their home ground!

Nothing planned for today, possibly a bacon butty for brunch then I will make something for dinner using up the remains of the turkey. Shall probably watch some catch-up tv, as we watched very little over Christmas.

Wishing all a restful and peaceful Sunday.

A quick morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Our daughter went back to London yesterday and we now have our granddaughter until Wednesday. I am popping to the nearby town shortly to speak to a pharmacist about eye drops. My eyes are very watery and gummy at the moment and the drops suggested by the optometrist are making things worse!

Cinema later,

Have a good day.

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Have not been long out of bed so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Had a pleasant evening with friends their daughter and fiance joined us.
Today I shall make a start on one of my new books I received 6 for Christmas.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Good morning all drom Glasgow, where it is 5°C.

I'm still in bed, I have had an awful night, due to my persistant cough and unable to clear my lungs.
I'm so tired of it all.

GM, you got off lightly. Last night, I found three children's books about Christmas, a matching woolly hat and gloves, a pair of gloves, a shopping bag, a toy and a pair of glasses.
The lost property box is already overflowing!

Yesterday, I went to Sainsbury's, where I had a full trolley search, because I was switching one item for another and forgot to rescan. I felt like running away, as I felt unwell.
The only thing which stopped me, was the large, fresh turkey,vI had secured for £3. 🤣
It went straight into the freezer for Easter. DD said it was another Christmas miracle, because she knew there was no room in it.

Today, I will be doing nothing. I have no energy. I was late home from church last night, trying to sort the candle mess, left by the seminarian, DH was not amused and hoped I wasn't going out today.
He needn't worry, I haven't the energy to get dressed, let alone go out.

Dinner has already been made, traditional Scottish steak pie, so I'm all organised, thank goodness.
However, in the process of making it, I manged to slice open my hand, with a very sharp pair of kitchen scissors. I couldn't get it to stop bleeding. DH was no help at all. He just flapped 😞

I wished, you all a gentle Sunday and for those, spending time with family, make happy memories.

Good morning from the NE where it is overcast but dry.
Yesterday I stayed in bed until about 2pm because I had a lot of pain and couldn't eat.
I never did get dressed but got myself downstairs so I could make drinks. I sat in the music room wrapped in a blanket and watched Christmas programmes. The scarecrows wedding was lovely even though I didn't have a toddler to watch it with.
Today will be another quiet day with a bland diet to give my tummy a rest.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a grey S E Essex it’s 6°

Another lazy day is in the cards, asthma still flaring, but hey ho there are lots of people far worse than me. I shall potter and do what I can do, and no more.

Happy Birthday to the birthday girls 🎂🍾

Thinking of those with worries and mountains to climb.

Special thoughts and (((hugs))) to my dear penpal 😘

We have quite a busy day it’s my DGSs birthday today and this afternoon we will go over to take his gifts. This morning I would like to sit with my new calendar transferring birthdays over and new year appointments plus wrap up GS gifts. This evening we are out for another meal with our best friends.

Wishing everyone a day with moments of joy. 💐

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light and looks like the mist had eventually gone
A very Happy Birthday to your DH Liberty and to your DD2 redcar hope both the days go well
No plans for today although we’ll probably go for a short riverside walk in town and have a coffee at one of the nearby hotels. Just need to get out somewhere, I hope Jax managed a trip out yesterday too
Gingster 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Winniewit Sun 28-Dec-25 08:28:39

Good morning everyone from Lincolnshire.
It looks cold but dry outside today.
This has been my first Christmas without my darling husband .
Obviously it hasn't been the same but my dds have been wonderful and it's been lovely.
Celebrations began on 20th with my eldest dd getting married at a lovely old hotel. We had a fabulous day and the food was delicious.
We were back at the same hotel for Christmas lunch..again delicious and the staff were so kind and welcoming.
Today I'm going to try out my new sandwich toaster and tidy up a little.
I don't think I'll have any visitors today.
Hope you all have a good day.

Grandmabatty Sun 28-Dec-25 08:22:13

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and dry. It feels very cold but no frost.
Yesterday I met my friend and her daughter for breakfast. We had a lovely time then home to potter.
Today I don't think I'll see anybody so a quiet day for me. Housework and ironing to keep me busy. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a dull still quite dark Suffolk where it is still dry. The lanes and fields have dried out as has the stream which we cross every day on our walk with the little dog.

It is DH’s birthday and we usually go out for lunch with DS and his family. This year we decided not to as we seem to have been out for a few meals recently and fancied a day at home.

DS phoned last evening to say what time they are popping in. The DGC have insisted in bringing a birthday cake for him. I hadn’t the heart to say don’t bother! Just hope I can find an empty tin to put it in.

Hope today is a good one for all, especially those unwell or caring for others.

Gingster Sun 28-Dec-25 08:12:05

Good morning all and it’s just getting light.
Another day of not much going on. I don’t like these inbetween days now. DS said he would take us up to our seaside cottage but with the weather so cold and Dh not being able to walk far it’s seems unecessary and we’d be left without a car.
We’re usually up there with friends staying for New Year so it’s a bit sad but we’ve had the best years and shouldn’t complain.

Karma I’ve sent you a PM. Hope you don’t mind.

Take care all

kittylester Sun 28-Dec-25 08:11:00

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire.

A quiet day ahead for us. Maybe a trip to drop some stuff off at DD1's in Derby then home for fillet steak, chips and garlic mushrooms.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

baubles Sun 28-Dec-25 08:08:05

Good morning from chilly South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s lunch with my brother was most enjoyable, it was so good to catch up with him and to see him looking well.

Today, apart from going to Mass, I have no plans. I’ll just meander through the day doing as much or as little as I like.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Greyduster Sun 28-Dec-25 07:57:38

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire - still dark but dry.
Yesterday was mostly spent sorting out paperwork I want DS to look through with me when he comes down today, and giving the house a bit of a fettle - it’s not dirty; but these days I tend to leave a trail of stuff I’ve been working on and books of one sort or another that doesn’t get put away. Being a military man like his father before him, clutter offends him😁! He will now have somewhere to sit when he arrives and the dining table will once again be able to accommodate plates!! We will have a roast dinner and then hopefully a walk before he goes home.

Have the best day you can, folks.

luluaugust Sun 28-Dec-25 07:53:53

Good morning from W Kent where I shall be tidying and ironing this morning and then going to a favourite local restaurant before DB goes home.
I’m sure the two men will eat plenty, one course for me I think
Thinking of you all and wishing you the best

RosieandherMaw Sun 28-Dec-25 07:47:09

Good morning from N Bucks- dry, chilly but as Ginny says, no hard frost.
My journey home from Somerset (3 1/2 hours down on Christmas Eve) took 6 hours - I think the world and his dog were out on the roads. There was the usual slow procession past Stonehenge and I sat on the hill from Highclere down to Chievely for the best part of an hour! Driving over the M 40 between Oxford and Bicester I could see 3 lanes of apparently stationary traffic in either direction - relieved I wasn’t in that.
But of course it was worth it.
D2 , SIL and GS arrive tomorrow for two nights, D3, SIL and two little boys on Tuesday for one day and night before they all decamp to D1’s for New Year. The littlest boys are pocket rockets so Rosie and I will probably be lying down in a darkened room by then.
It’s all flying past isn’t it? Blink and it will be 2026!
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday, safe travels if you are still out and about and what the Germans describe as a “smooth slide into the New Year” (einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr)

Gagagran Sun 28-Dec-25 07:40:50

Good Morning everyone from another cold and breezy south coast. Not much sign of the light coming back yet but it's on its way and it always cheers me when it becomes noticeable!

We ate up the three bird roast yesterday. Not sure I'll do one again but DH liked it. Today I am doing home made beef burgers, or rissoles as my Mum called them. Then tomorrow DD and her two are coming and we are going out for lunch.

Looking forward to normal routines again. Does anyone else feel disrupted by the "Festive Season"?

Thoughts to all with worries to carry. May they find some calm and peace.

Susan56 Sun 28-Dec-25 07:38:17

Good morning from Shropshire.Another chilly start.

A quiet day for us I hope.

Wishing everyone the best day possible with thoughts to all with mountains to climb🦩🌻

ginny Sun 28-Dec-25 07:31:36

Good morning. N.Bucks is dry at the moment, no frost as there was yesterday.
My first job will be to turn the turkey leftovers into pie filling.
We may venture to the shops to look for a new coffee table and a couple of throws for the lounge .
Wishing you all a good day.

GrannyIvy Sun 28-Dec-25 07:29:52

Good morning Mick & everyone from a chilly Cambridgeshire. Just another quiet day here for us. We are off to do a local lights trail later with family but DH will stay home as still not well. I will dig my hand warmers out and warmest clothes it will be a long cold walk

Wishing a peaceful day to all 🌺

Redcar Sun 28-Dec-25 07:19:06

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. I think it’s cloudy this morning and a little less cold than the last few nights. I came home yesterday and although my house feels nice and warm, it also feels very quiet after the hustle and bustle of DD1’s house. I did my washing and dried it, ironing will be done today.
I’ve put away my Christmas presents, I have a lot of chocolates and biscuits, which will last me a while.
Today is DD2s birthday. I won’t see her because she’s out at the theatre in London this afternoon.
I’ll try to get a walk this morning, I’ve hardly moved over Christmas.
Thinking of those who are struggling in any way, and hoping for some improvement for you today.
Have the best day possible.

RosesandLilac Sun 28-Dec-25 07:01:20

Good morning everyone from south Glos, it’s a cold and windy start to Sunday here, much like the past few days.
Yesterday I started the illuminated alphabet, very relaxing so I will do more today. I was thinking about taking the decorations down but as there are only a few I will leave them up a bit longer I think.
My big granny square crochet is growing very slowly, as is always the way as it takes longer and longer to do a round. I think I have another 20 or so to do, I have done 30? It’s looking nice and I am pleased with it.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹
