Good morning all from Lancashire. I have no plans for today except cleaning. We have had a long gloomy spell and I have let the housework slide. Now the sun is showing up the muck and I need to get out the dusters.

grandMattie Sun 28-Dec-25 05:36:15

Good morning from Bristol.
I haven’t looked out, but it seems dry - yesterday was rather nice.
I got a “memory” from Fb. I was in India with DS this time 8 years ago, showed a photo of me on the lake in Jaipur. Lovely holiday. I had gone because he’d been there 2 years and I thought he’d move. No, he stayed another 8 years, only moving to Tanzania this summer!
I did my cleaning stint in the church. No debris or forgotten items, just the usual dust and a few bits of tinsel.
Today, ,I have church and nothing much else.
I hope that ‘Twixmas” (horrible but useful word 🥺) is kind to you and you have a gentle day.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, dull sky all day today and cold

I floated through yesterday, nothing onerous but I did finish the skirt pockets which I need to secure today, that involves some jiggery pokery with side seams. That will be enough sewing today and I can see a nice sprint to the finishing line by wednesday

Spinning, knitting, sorting some dry food stores, and still prepping to make a good sourdough loaf soon. I am still feeding the starter to give it more weight-lifting strength, it is almost ready

My 5 siblings and I have done a lot of reminiscing from early childhood, I remember most of the small details, being the oldest, nice that we all share these same memories

Today, more of the same and no need to go to the sleeping allotment, too cold too cycle anyway

I would say just a nice, calm and varied day for me today. I may well get the smokeless ovals lit again today, they only give a glow in the stove but it is a gentle heat that lasts all day and does not make me dozy

Have a good day

Good morning all. 1deg in Glasgow, dry and sunny. I noticed we will be dropping to the minuses for the week ahead.

An at home day yesterday, more candle making when DD1 dropped in as she was dropping GD2 at a friends in my area. She stayed for a couple of hours and made a geranium scented candle to take home with her. Two days at home now, I will get out today as I need a few things from Waitrose and I will have a coffee somewhere before returning home.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 19°C.

Had a very idle day yesterday but didn’t feel great with this wretched cough still persisting.

My son’s girlfriend returned from Bulgaria yesterday evening so they all went home, including the cat Winston who I am missing already. It was lovely having him and also having my son this last week as he stayed here while his gf was visiting family.

Cleaning today and putting away the few Christmas things I have around the place.

Wishing a good day to you all.☀️

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a cold dry morning in North Yorkshire, Back to rubbish night, little sleep and rather cratchety start. It will take all of my coffee and Bach to bring me to a better place today. My back is bad, I havent slept well, and cannot even decide what I want to or can do at the moment,

Yesterday I needed to get out and about and went to the coast. It rained on the way and was decidedly chilly but looked very nice from the car and dried up and had a little bit of a walk along the promenade. Treated myself to a coffee and toasted teacake which was very good and it was warm in the cafe. Because it was the holiday I kept thinking it was friday with everything being out of order, and started to think in that new year mode about what I needed to begin to sort out and to go through bills and so forth, but not actually got that real get up and go mood to make a start. Had some rather good cold meat and chips for dinner and didnt do much after that. Today will have to be decided by how well I am managing after a shower and dressing. Certainly I shall not be walking very far, but need to read up more on the new buggy and go out and have a little practise at getting it in and out of the car and setting it up. So no set plans for the day today apart from giving that a try.

Hope you have an easy day Mick and the cycling is good. Mum2three you should have a good go at it today and will at least see a good improvement from your efforts. GrandMattie you will be pleased to get back to a bit of routine today.Karmalady you might find it good to write down some of the memories you talked about with your family, while events are clear in your mind for the future. I think we all believe we can remember so much and then I have found myself looking at a picture of our family at some gathering and wondering who a specific person is and having no one else that might know to ask. It really annoys me when I know that I used to know who they were! Kalu hope you get your shopping and enjoy your coffee,

In fact I wish all GN's a rather restorative day before plans for New Year take over. May you have a pleasant and peaceful day everywhere

Ashcombe Sun 28-Dec-25 06:25:38

Good morning from a breezy but dry Torbay.

Yesterday morning we came out of hibernation to walk over Babbacombe Downs to our favourite pub where a glass of mulled wine was a most welcome reward! Later we both enjoyed comedy reruns on BBC2 honouring Patricia Routledge and Prunella Scales.

My DD1 and DGS1 fly back to Australia today, having spent the past week in London at the home of her late FiL, following his funeral. Thanks to the wonders of technology, I was able to watch the service and was proud of my SiL who spoke during the tributes.

Wishing everyone a blessed Sunday, especially those who are facing tough times with health issues.

A dry cloudy day in store for Sheffield today.

I have the family coming round for ham sandwiches and roast potatoes today, an easier option than a sit down meal.
There are 17 of us so it’s a case of sit where you can.

I’m sorry to hear about Georgiesgran and her DD’s disagreement.
I’ve been there and understand how upsetting it is.
I’m a bit anxious about us all together this afternoon. There is no reason to think there would be discord, but that period of time when there was made me unwell.
Anyway think positive thoughts!

Take care everyone x

Melanie61 Sun 28-Dec-25 06:52:29

Sorry, I meant Georgesgran x

Good morning everyone from south Glos, it’s a cold and windy start to Sunday here, much like the past few days.
Yesterday I started the illuminated alphabet, very relaxing so I will do more today. I was thinking about taking the decorations down but as there are only a few I will leave them up a bit longer I think.
My big granny square crochet is growing very slowly, as is always the way as it takes longer and longer to do a round. I think I have another 20 or so to do, I have done 30? It’s looking nice and I am pleased with it.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

Redcar Sun 28-Dec-25 07:19:06

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. I think it’s cloudy this morning and a little less cold than the last few nights. I came home yesterday and although my house feels nice and warm, it also feels very quiet after the hustle and bustle of DD1’s house. I did my washing and dried it, ironing will be done today.
I’ve put away my Christmas presents, I have a lot of chocolates and biscuits, which will last me a while.
Today is DD2s birthday. I won’t see her because she’s out at the theatre in London this afternoon.
I’ll try to get a walk this morning, I’ve hardly moved over Christmas.
Thinking of those who are struggling in any way, and hoping for some improvement for you today.
Have the best day possible.

GrannyIvy Sun 28-Dec-25 07:29:52

Good morning Mick & everyone from a chilly Cambridgeshire. Just another quiet day here for us. We are off to do a local lights trail later with family but DH will stay home as still not well. I will dig my hand warmers out and warmest clothes it will be a long cold walk

Wishing a peaceful day to all 🌺

ginny Sun 28-Dec-25 07:31:36

Good morning. N.Bucks is dry at the moment, no frost as there was yesterday.
My first job will be to turn the turkey leftovers into pie filling.
We may venture to the shops to look for a new coffee table and a couple of throws for the lounge .
Wishing you all a good day.

Susan56 Sun 28-Dec-25 07:38:17

Good morning from Shropshire.Another chilly start.

A quiet day for us I hope.

Wishing everyone the best day possible with thoughts to all with mountains to climb🦩🌻

Gagagran Sun 28-Dec-25 07:40:50

Good Morning everyone from another cold and breezy south coast. Not much sign of the light coming back yet but it's on its way and it always cheers me when it becomes noticeable!

We ate up the three bird roast yesterday. Not sure I'll do one again but DH liked it. Today I am doing home made beef burgers, or rissoles as my Mum called them. Then tomorrow DD and her two are coming and we are going out for lunch.

Looking forward to normal routines again. Does anyone else feel disrupted by the "Festive Season"?

Thoughts to all with worries to carry. May they find some calm and peace.

RosieandherMaw Sun 28-Dec-25 07:47:09

Good morning from N Bucks- dry, chilly but as Ginny says, no hard frost.
My journey home from Somerset (3 1/2 hours down on Christmas Eve) took 6 hours - I think the world and his dog were out on the roads. There was the usual slow procession past Stonehenge and I sat on the hill from Highclere down to Chievely for the best part of an hour! Driving over the M 40 between Oxford and Bicester I could see 3 lanes of apparently stationary traffic in either direction - relieved I wasn’t in that.
But of course it was worth it.
D2 , SIL and GS arrive tomorrow for two nights, D3, SIL and two little boys on Tuesday for one day and night before they all decamp to D1’s for New Year. The littlest boys are pocket rockets so Rosie and I will probably be lying down in a darkened room by then.
It’s all flying past isn’t it? Blink and it will be 2026!
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday, safe travels if you are still out and about and what the Germans describe as a “smooth slide into the New Year” (einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr)

luluaugust Sun 28-Dec-25 07:53:53

Good morning from W Kent where I shall be tidying and ironing this morning and then going to a favourite local restaurant before DB goes home.
I’m sure the two men will eat plenty, one course for me I think
Thinking of you all and wishing you the best

Greyduster Sun 28-Dec-25 07:57:38

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire - still dark but dry.
Yesterday was mostly spent sorting out paperwork I want DS to look through with me when he comes down today, and giving the house a bit of a fettle - it’s not dirty; but these days I tend to leave a trail of stuff I’ve been working on and books of one sort or another that doesn’t get put away. Being a military man like his father before him, clutter offends him😁! He will now have somewhere to sit when he arrives and the dining table will once again be able to accommodate plates!! We will have a roast dinner and then hopefully a walk before he goes home.

Have the best day you can, folks.

baubles Sun 28-Dec-25 08:08:05

Good morning from chilly South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s lunch with my brother was most enjoyable, it was so good to catch up with him and to see him looking well.

Today, apart from going to Mass, I have no plans. I’ll just meander through the day doing as much or as little as I like.

Wishing everyone a good day.

kittylester Sun 28-Dec-25 08:11:00

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire.

A quiet day ahead for us. Maybe a trip to drop some stuff off at DD1's in Derby then home for fillet steak, chips and garlic mushrooms.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

Gingster Sun 28-Dec-25 08:12:05

Good morning all and it’s just getting light.
Another day of not much going on. I don’t like these inbetween days now. DS said he would take us up to our seaside cottage but with the weather so cold and Dh not being able to walk far it’s seems unecessary and we’d be left without a car.
We’re usually up there with friends staying for New Year so it’s a bit sad but we’ve had the best years and shouldn’t complain.

Karma I’ve sent you a PM. Hope you don’t mind.

Take care all

Liberty Sun 28-Dec-25 08:14:36

Good morning from a dull still quite dark Suffolk where it is still dry. The lanes and fields have dried out as has the stream which we cross every day on our walk with the little dog.

It is DH’s birthday and we usually go out for lunch with DS and his family. This year we decided not to as we seem to have been out for a few meals recently and fancied a day at home.

DS phoned last evening to say what time they are popping in. The DGC have insisted in bringing a birthday cake for him. I hadn’t the heart to say don’t bother! Just hope I can find an empty tin to put it in.

Hope today is a good one for all, especially those unwell or caring for others.

Grandmabatty Sun 28-Dec-25 08:22:13

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and dry. It feels very cold but no frost.
Yesterday I met my friend and her daughter for breakfast. We had a lovely time then home to potter.
Today I don't think I'll see anybody so a quiet day for me. Housework and ironing to keep me busy. Have a good day all.

Winniewit Sun 28-Dec-25 08:28:39

Good morning everyone from Lincolnshire.
It looks cold but dry outside today.
This has been my first Christmas without my darling husband .
Obviously it hasn't been the same but my dds have been wonderful and it's been lovely.
Celebrations began on 20th with my eldest dd getting married at a lovely old hotel. We had a fabulous day and the food was delicious.
We were back at the same hotel for Christmas lunch..again delicious and the staff were so kind and welcoming.
Today I'm going to try out my new sandwich toaster and tidy up a little.
I don't think I'll have any visitors today.
Hope you all have a good day.
