Now that really had me smiling Gingster thank you!
Very witty.

Good morning everyone from overcast Lancashire.

MrB and I have enjoyed our usual walk around the Dock, yesterday afternoon we walked around the marina as well. Getting outside, even on the cold dull days, lifts my spirits.

I hope you get something positive from the E consult Marydoll.

Sending positive vibes to our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

Good morning all. Chilly but dry in Glasgow today.

Another broken sleep last night not that it interferes with the start to my day, I don’t do mornings, appointments etc. as I now prefer a more gentle start. Did my Waitrose shop yesterday, not the best plan as many visitors head there at weekends and this time of year, many aimlessly walking around the store. Thankfully I only needed a few bits and pieces and was able to escape fairly quickly. I also stopped at my local butcher to collect my NY day steak pie, the smallest in the shop. I bumped into a friend in there and as we both had time to, had a coffee at Costas and a lovely catch up blether.

So sorry to hear of your set back Jax. Such pain is miserable to live with. Hoping you have a speedy recovery.
Georgesgran I hope all this upset is resolved soon. Look after yourself. 💐

Best wishes to all for a settled pleasant day.

A very late good morning Mick and all GN's from a grey cold but so far dry North Yorkshire. I am very slowly getting my act together today as I had a day out yesterday, but then this morning was somewhat paying for it in aches and pains and my head decided to add to it by feeling swimming and the room seeing to whirl around me, so that I was putting my hands out to stop myself from falling. Have had that a little when I had migraine, and my head is a bit odd but not like a migraine pain thank goodness.

So I have only just got caught up with morning routine and now clean and more comfortable and the washer clonking around and hopefully I have found all odd socks and bits and pieces to end up with a clean household - whether the weather will let me put it out I dont know but it is very cold for sure.

Yesterday I had a sudden longing to be up Swaledale as for various reasons havent been right up the top for some time. So ignoring boring jobs and such like I took myself off. The weather was not brilliant and there were one or two showers, but I had a wonderful time. As it was still the holidays , very little traffic at all, I drove along happily looking across at so many memories. Where I used to drive the little white bus, houses that I had picked patients up for the hospital when I was doing hospital car volunteer, churches our choir had sung at etc etc. For once hadnt bothered to get coffee etc done for the car, but was able to buy a lovely crab sandwich with lots of salad freshly made, and a take away coffee and of course had my white china mug with me. So was able to go to my very special place, have a lovely lunch, watch the birds with my binoculars and generally feel that all was right with the world as long as I sat there. Then a lovely drive down the dale, and noting my friend from choirs house up for sale. Wish I could win the lottery and buy it, it has the most beautiful look out over swaledale. Ah well I had a great ride out, managed a little walk at one point and then drove across to the big Tesco in Catterick, which is one of the very large ones, that I dont care to go round usually, but as it was sunday and shorter hours, decided to go round there on their buggy and stock up on bits and pieces that I cant get at the local one and not have to go out today. So mission accomplished I arrived home weary but happy to have ended the year with my trip to my favourite place.

Today down to the mundane, washing on, and am just about to ring the council as yet again the flipping dustbin men have not collected my stuff, even though they have a note about it. Probably not the usual men on over the holiday but I need it sorted and sharpish. Then I have to get new residents parking permit, before the sneaky little parking hitler comes round to hope to catch us out and give us a ticket! So far the sales have not lured me in, although I may go mad and get a loan from the bank to buy some new handkerchiefs!! Actually I do want some more. I use tissues at home but still like to have one or two mens handkerchief in my bag when out and about. Stupid little ladies ones are not worth buying, sturdy practical ones are what I need.

Ah just seen two squirrels run along the fence and dart up the tree and have a dash around the branches. No sign of any birds at all. Too cold by half to think of going into the garden or walking yet, so it will be more clearing up, and plan to try and contact a friend who I havent seen or heard from over a week. With the holidays and all the dates mixed up I wasnt very worried but now things are getting back to somewhat of a routine need to check she is ok. Another thing I must do is think where I carefully put the new calendar ready for notes of boring dates such as doctors appointment and hopefully nicer ideas to plan for.

Mick, you will be half way to Bicester by now, hope your day goes well. Pantglas hope you have a good catch up. GrandMattie make a special note on your calendar for such a good nights sleep. Cornergran another good sleeper. Jaxjacky I am sorry to hear you are in pain and had a setback. Do hope today improves things.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and quiet day to recover from all the holiday meet ups before the New Year is upon us.

Gingster that has happened with my car a couple of times. All four windows drop to exactly the same depth and the worst thing was it poured with rain overnight and my car was soaking and had puddles on the seats and floor.

Good morning everyone.

The opening of windows happens on my car too. Sometimes all the way and sometimes a little bit.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 29-Dec-25 09:24:17

Morning all from a grey West Oxfordshire.

I spoke to a pharmacist yesterday. She reckoned I have conjunctivitis and gave me some antibiotic drops.

We took granddaughter to the cinema where she enjoyed the film - some sort of cartoon!

Today we are off to a Panto in Oxford. Lunch first somewhere that does pasta!

Elder son and his partner are still in Scotland doing up their new house. I think they intend to use it for holiday letting, not a year round let. They are talking about hosting Christmas there next year!

Have a good day. Too many of us are having difficulties - best wishes to all of you. 🌹

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. No frost though. Marydoll and grannygravy I hope you have success with doctors appointments. Ashcombe I marvel at piano players. Well done on stepping in at the last minute. Brook have a lovely time with your ds and his partner.
Yesterday was a very quiet day and I did almost nothing. The family and I messaged back and forth but that was all.
I had a disturbed night but ended up sleeping well after paracetamol.
Today I, too, might take down all the decorations but leave the sparkly lights on the wee tree at the front door. I still have an ironing to do and soup to throw out- it went mouldy. I should have frozen it but didn't. Then there's films to watch. Another quiet day ahead but that suits me. I do suspect I'll see dd and the boys at some point to dry washing for her. Apparently they're getting a new tumble dryer soon. Ha! 😂Anyway, have a good day all.

Gingster Mon 29-Dec-25 09:00:36

Good morning and it’s feels slightly warmer today. I’ll know when I walk the dog.

Yesterday I parked the car when pooch and I walked the fields, on returning, all the car windows were down. I couldn’t believe my eyes. No damage, nothing stolen. I thought I was going 🙁🤯.

I asked Dh about it when we got home and he was none the wiser, so I googled. Apparently something on the key fob that can activate it if it’s in your pocket and you mistakenly press it. Who knew!!!!!!. At least I’m not going Gaga….. yet!

Today I’ll shop and start my diamond picture which was a gift over Christmas. I’ll enjoy that until I don’t 😅. I must pick up my crochet again.: My lovely DIL made me a beautiful Crochetted ‘thing’ for Christmas. It looks like a bunch of roses and then opens into a little lap rug thingy. So much work has gone into it.

So many people taking down their decs. Dd did hers yesterday.
A bit soon for me, I’ll leave it until after new year.

Marydoll 💐
Fgs 💐
Jax 💐.

Gg hope you get some sense from the surgery.

Take care all xx

WhiteSwan63 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:57:07

Good morning from a chilly dry east coast.
This morning we are taking the Christmas decorations down in preparation for going away tomorrow. Then of course there is cleaning to be done as they have been up a month.
Looking at the piles of clothes next to the suitcases I can’t see how they will fit in as DH and I are chronic overpackers. The weather in Madeira is apparently very changeable and I’ve been advised layers is the key so will go through it all again and see if I can condense it down to fit it in.
Food today will be using up so a picky lunch and dinner I think. I’ll be sick of the sight of cheese and pate by the end of the day.

Yesterday my DGS had his 11th birthday but as soon as grandad and I turned up he wanted to come home with us I think it was all too much so we brought him to ours for a peaceful hour and then his daddy picked him up again. Luckily they live around the corner. As the years have progressed his love of Christmas and birthday celebration has increased which is a joy to see.

Well I had better get on with our busy day.
Wishing everyone who has a busy day time to just sit with a cuppa and take some deep breaths and possibly a few minutes calm in such a busy world. I will reflect on a lovely Christmas with my family which had many moments of joy.
Take care 💐

Marydoll Mon 29-Dec-25 08:53:13

I have an appointment with my favourite GP at 11am. Yet another Christmas miracle.

GG, good luck with your appointment.♥️

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:50:25

I was 59th in thenGP queue, so used their ringback service.

I have an appointment this afternoon with a doctor regarding my breathing difficulties (not my GP who is off on holiday for six weeks). I am hopefull that this one will be fully qualified and listen to me.

MaryDoll I feel for you, breathing is exhausting when it doesn’t come easy, it is so very debilitating 🩷

Liberty Mon 29-Dec-25 08:40:17

Good morning from a dull and dry Suffolk where we seem to have lost those chilly winds.

So sorry to hear of the struggles of several people this morning which I hope will lessen soon.

DH had a lovely birthday yesterday and we have cake left for a few more days to come.

I’m off to visit my dear friend again this morning. She says she needs normal conversations to remind her there is life outside the home where she is for respite.

baubles Mon 29-Dec-25 08:30:45

Good morning from chilly and dry South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was quiet, I spent the day pottering and eating cheese and chocolate. I may very well do the same today.

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling again MDoll.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Jaxjacky Mon 29-Dec-25 08:19:25

Morning and thank you all from a chilly S Hants.
I was rather down yesterday, Saturday was the most painful few hours I’ve ever had, I’m not sure where it puts me on recovery. I’ll make some calls today, the knee brace for a week, to stabilise the hip, is tiresome too.
Today is a new day, no real plans, I hope you all have a good one.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark but not frosty
We’re just on the train down to Edinburgh as we’re meeting up with DS, his partner and his partners mum for lunch today. They’re over from Switzerland for a few days so taking the opportunity to meet up whilst we can. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on news
Hoping Jax is doing ok today
Georgesgran hope you’re feeling a bit better about things today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Mon 29-Dec-25 08:16:03

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

I missed Georgesgran's post about her daughters and feel so upset for her.
My children were in a similar position and DS1 refused to come to DD's wedding during Covid.
It was only when I had a heart attack, they realised how precious and precarious life is.
It did take ages to nake up, but we got there in the end.
Please do not lise hope.♥️

Pants, how I envy your day out. 💚

Yesterday was a quiet day, I did the church rotas, which were overdue, partly due to my procrastination, but also because I am unwell.
I have just done an E-consult. I am struggling with my respiratory problems and oedema in my ankles means, I can't get my shoes on. I am wearing a pair of summer sliders. and my feet are freezing I have also had to remove my wedding and engagement rings, DD was afraid they were going to need cut off.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

NannyJan53 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:08:40

Good morning from a dark, but dry Black Country.

Today I am the Mother of a 50 year old! DS celebrates half a century today! So tonight we are off to a family meal, then there is a party on Saturday.

Walking group walk this morning (I think), no-one has mentioned it on the WhatsApp group yet.

I hope you can enjoy your retirement Harris, it takes a while to get into the routine of a new normal. I have never regretted it.

I think Pantglas2 is an Author. Such a lovely way with words.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Georgesgran Mon 29-Dec-25 08:05:23

Good Morning from Durham. It’s dry, but feeling cooler.
Again, I must thank so many GNs for their messages, especially Moth.
Sorry to hear of the setback Jax I hope you’re not in too much pain.

Best wishes to all. X

monk08 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:00:37

Good morning from Shropshire.Doesn’t feel quite so cold this morning.

I have an appointment this morning for blood tests and my B12 jab.We will stay in town for lunch and then go shopping for some gifts for the new baby in the family.

We have a quiet week for which we are grateful as January is very busy.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Dec-25 07:47:14

Good morning from a slowly lightening S E Essex.

I hope you are more comfortable today Jaxjacky 🌸

I am getting ready for the 8am scramble on GP phone system, hopefully I can get an appointment with a GP or our wonderful and experienced prescriber Nurse. Anyone but the person I saw last Monday 🤬

Thinking of all our struggling morning friends 🎄🤶

luluaugust Mon 29-Dec-25 07:40:38

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. After a lunch out at our favourite restaurant DB left for home I think he had a cold coming on, will we catch it, probably. A rather sleepless night followed I think I am worrying about making a cake for old friends coming today.
Hoping Jaxjacky is a little better today
Best wishes to all

Grammaretto Mon 29-Dec-25 07:39:48

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm wearing my biggest coat having put out the rubbish already, the route lit by my trusty headtorch.

Now to get washed and dressed. I'm going to the King's gallery today to see the Italian drawings.

I dismantled our Christmas exhibition yesterday. Some things sold but our pottery isn't particularly festive.

I'm trying to organise a work party to clear an enormous bookcase before next Monday when the case is going to be taken away.

So far I have one offer of help on Wednesday from one woman friend.
Where are the young strong teenagers when they're needed!

Poor Jax I hope you aren't in too much pain. Redcar too, with your back. It's miserable.
Ashcombe I marvel at your musical talent.

Have a very good day everyone or at least the best possible.

BlueSapphire Mon 29-Dec-25 07:35:22

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton. Feeling quite chilly, but not.going out today so won't worry about that. Another peaceful day indoors, reading and catch-up TV.

Listened to a lot of radio yesterday, Nine Lessons and Carols from Kings again, and also Choral Evensong from St Martin's in the Fields and then a programme of modern carols from John Rutter and Bob Chilcott.

Made a big pot of turkey and vegetable soup for dinner yesterday, and enough left for another day; that's all the turkey gone! May have ham again tonight, and definitely ham sandwich for lunch.

Cats are being returned from the cattery this morning; they will probably roam the house checking it's as they left it then will disappear to sleep upstairs on a bed.

Wishing all a pleasant day.
