Good morning everyone from another dark and dry dawn in north Wales, not as cold here down by the seaside as it is up at Dad’s where all the cars are frosted up🥶

So sorry to read that Jax has had a setback and things aren’t going well between siblings Georgesgran, always a heartache for the parent which of course they never consider…🤦‍♀️

Best wishes on your retirement Harris 💐it may take a few months to find some sort of routine where you don’t just fritter your days but also leaving time for the serendipitous opportunities which you can enjoy without dratted work to attend to 🤗

Speaking of which, after a morning of titivating my phisog and feet I shall be hopping on a bus to Conwy for a decent lunch 😋with two of my oldest friends- we haven’t managed a date since early Spring so plenty to chew over, in all senses! They’ve both lost their remaining elderly parent in the last few years after months of caring etc so I need to pick their brains on how to deal with the frustrations…🤯

A good day for all 🙏

Good morning from a windy (again!) but dry Torbay.

On arrival at church yesterday, I was greeted by the lay reader in some panic as there was no accompanist for the service, due to start in five minutes. They were hoping I was ‘it’. On the rare occasions I have played the piano for a service, I arrive half an hour before, armed with hymn books, having practised the tunes! Having glanced at the service sheet to see the hymns were well known carols, I agreed to play and a hymn book was duly provided.

We are still in an interregnum and our main organist sadly died earlier this year so the music is being managed by two guys who mainly attend the later service. All along, I have said I’m willing to play with prior notice so I can find manageable music!

Your lunch date sounds like fun, Pantglas46; your contributions on here always amuse so I imagine you’re a lively lunch companion!

So sorry to read of your misfortune, Jaxjacky and hope you’re as comfortable as possible.

Good morning from a dark, dry Bristol.
Goodness! After a day doing nothing other than going to (a much depleted) church, I slept for 8 hours last night. I can’t remember the last time I did that. I shall be set up for the day - empty other than a Tesco shop.
I’m so sorry about your setback, jax. I trust you be going forward again soon.
I was little anxious about my old and frail neighbour; he comes to me regularly to ask about something, but also always comes to church. As he was absent, I checked on him on my way home. He’s ok, but wisely decided not to attend as it was very cold, especially in the wind, and the church still has no heating.
I spent the day on my derrière streaming films I’d never seen - a really very lazy day.
May everyone have the best day possible,; gentle, contented. Prayers for those with mountains to climb, especially the fgts, md, jax and anyone ihav3 missed.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️🎄🕯️

Good morning from s somerset, bright cold and dry today

I had enough of Christmas decor yesterday and I did put it all away, it is all now boxed and into two really useful boxes on a garage shelf with the nordic tree in a thin box on top. I am only keeping the lovely things I put out this yearand I am down to one garage shelf, I chucked everything else away

It was a hobby day yesterday with lots of spinning and some complicated sewing, more of the same today but really I have nothing planned but I will get to the allotment later, just for a look around. I was so ridiculously tired after 5 yesterday, kept dozing on and off all evening, that tired heavy feeling. I think I will switch my sewing time to evening today, it will help to have a more normal evening routine

Have a good day

Another grey cloudy day in Sheffield.

Yesterday’s gathering went really well. I was worrying needlessly.

I was exhausted last night though. We went straight to bed and will have to finish clearing up this morning.
I am working at 9 though so I will have to rouse myself soon and get the dishwasher on.

Take care everyone flowers

RosesandLilac Mon 29-Dec-25 06:39:00

Good morning, very cold, very dark and quiet here at the moment in south Glos, I hope there’s some sunshine later.
We walked the dogs on a nearby common yesterday, only saw two others. There were so many birds, including red kites and buzzards, lots of birdsong and a lovely spot out of the cold wind.
I did the ironing when I got back and then spent most of the afternoon watching The Night Watchman, very enjoyable. Apparently series 2 starts soon so looking forward to seeing that.
I might put the decorations away today, I will keep the little garland that has lights on the mantle, it cheerfully twinkles away and won’t be too obtrusive.
I need DH to get the boxes down from the attic, I hope he’s amenable today.
Gammon cooked in the slow cooker on brown sugar for dinner, with mash and salad I think.
Wishing you all a good day 🌹

Bellasnana Mon 29-Dec-25 07:10:10

Good morning from Malta where it looks rather cloudy and the high is forecast at 18°C.

Spent yesterday cleaning and doing a lot of laundry. I hadn’t any decorations to put away but did put the few bits like Christmas cushions, tablecloth etc away and am glad to have it clean and tidy.

After all that laundry, today’s task is to get the ironing out of the way. I also need milk so will pop to the shop at some point, then I’m babysitting the boys this evening.

Ashcombe how I envy your ability to play the piano. Such a lovely talent to have.

Hoping Jax will feel better today and hopefully pain-free.🙏🏻

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Gagagran Mon 29-Dec-25 07:10:41

Good Morning everyone from a dark and chilly (4c) south coast.

Looking forward to the visit of our DD and her two DC today. Her partner is on duty so will not be joining us. We are going to one of our lovely, local village pubs for lunch and fortunately they have vegan options for DGD. She is a primary school teacher and DGS is at university so we don't see either of them so much these days.

I might put our minimal decorations away tomorrow too Roses - inspired by you!

Sorry to hear of ongoing problems for many of our posters. Sending healing and positive vibes to all in need.

Good morning from N.Bucks.
A successful trip yesterday, we ordered a side table with a drawer , which will accommodate all the bits and pieces that seem to gather on the top , much tidier. We also found a new light fitting.
Later this afternoon we are off to the light trail at Delapre Abbey with DD3 and family. We will be wrapping up up warm.
Sorry to hear of your setback Jakjaxyhope it is soon sorted.
Wishing all a good day especially our friends coping with illness, their own or loved ones.

Redcar Mon 29-Dec-25 07:21:34

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. 5degrees outside so no frost. Forecast is for a cloudy day again. I went for my usual walk yesterday, the first time since December 23rd. My back was very achy all day, but I pottered about, putting things away and felt that the house was looking a bit tidier.
More pottering today I think, but I’m leaving my Christmas tree up until next weekend. The sparkly lights I put up on shelves etc are battery operated and apparently the batteries will expire in a few days time. I have some lights on a bush in the garden and may replace the batteries as I like to see them. I have several solar powered lights outside, but the light only lasts a few hours if we’ve had enough sun.

I’m sorry you’ve had such a setback jaxjacky and hope you managed some sleep last night.

Thoughts as ever are with the fgts, dragonfly and all others who are struggling in any way.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Greyduster Mon 29-Dec-25 07:24:14

Good morning, Michael, and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but set to be dry. I may put a wash on.

Yesterday’a visit by DS was great fun - you certainly know he’s in the house! We enjoyed a very nice roast dinner with a glass of wine, and he did the dishes. He did one or two small jobs for me before he left at around four. He was driving DiL’s small car yesterday as she needed their four by four and I asked if he needed a shoe horn to get into it - he’s a big lad - but it is surprisingly roomy and easier to get in and out of than mine. Hmm! Thinks……

Today I may take the tram into town as I have a Waterstones voucher burning a hole in my pocket. I also need to look for new shoes.

Have the best day you can, folks.

cornergran Mon 29-Dec-25 07:29:47

Morning Mick, morning All. Cold, dry start to our corner of Somerset. We’re promised sight of the sun later.

A quiet day at home recharging the batteries yesterday. I also slept for an unheard of eight hours. Mr C is still in shock and expecting great things of me today.

We’ll wander forth to a National Trust , assuming cooperation from two motorways, returning via a supermarket for some vegetables allowing the sad specimens in the fridge to be reborn as soup.

Hope you’re more comfortable today jax, what a disappointment.

Best wishes to everyone and a hope Monday is kind to us all.

BlueSapphire Mon 29-Dec-25 07:35:22

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton. Feeling quite chilly, but not.going out today so won't worry about that. Another peaceful day indoors, reading and catch-up TV.

Listened to a lot of radio yesterday, Nine Lessons and Carols from Kings again, and also Choral Evensong from St Martin's in the Fields and then a programme of modern carols from John Rutter and Bob Chilcott.

Made a big pot of turkey and vegetable soup for dinner yesterday, and enough left for another day; that's all the turkey gone! May have ham again tonight, and definitely ham sandwich for lunch.

Cats are being returned from the cattery this morning; they will probably roam the house checking it's as they left it then will disappear to sleep upstairs on a bed.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Grammaretto Mon 29-Dec-25 07:39:48

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm wearing my biggest coat having put out the rubbish already, the route lit by my trusty headtorch.

Now to get washed and dressed. I'm going to the King's gallery today to see the Italian drawings.

I dismantled our Christmas exhibition yesterday. Some things sold but our pottery isn't particularly festive.

I'm trying to organise a work party to clear an enormous bookcase before next Monday when the case is going to be taken away.

So far I have one offer of help on Wednesday from one woman friend.
Where are the young strong teenagers when they're needed!

Poor Jax I hope you aren't in too much pain. Redcar too, with your back. It's miserable.
Ashcombe I marvel at your musical talent.

Have a very good day everyone or at least the best possible.

luluaugust Mon 29-Dec-25 07:40:38

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. After a lunch out at our favourite restaurant DB left for home I think he had a cold coming on, will we catch it, probably. A rather sleepless night followed I think I am worrying about making a cake for old friends coming today.
Hoping Jaxjacky is a little better today
Best wishes to all

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Dec-25 07:47:14

Good morning from a slowly lightening S E Essex.

I hope you are more comfortable today Jaxjacky 🌸

I am getting ready for the 8am scramble on GP phone system, hopefully I can get an appointment with a GP or our wonderful and experienced prescriber Nurse. Anyone but the person I saw last Monday 🤬

Thinking of all our struggling morning friends 🎄🤶

Susan56 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:00:24

Woken by the bin men its recycling week so very noisy with all the bottles and cans.

Good Morning from Durham. It’s dry, but feeling cooler.
Again, I must thank so many GNs for their messages, especially Moth.
Sorry to hear of the setback Jax I hope you’re not in too much pain.

Best wishes to all. X

NannyJan53 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:08:40

Good morning from a dark, but dry Black Country.

Today I am the Mother of a 50 year old! DS celebrates half a century today! So tonight we are off to a family meal, then there is a party on Saturday.

Walking group walk this morning (I think), no-one has mentioned it on the WhatsApp group yet.

I hope you can enjoy your retirement Harris, it takes a while to get into the routine of a new normal. I have never regretted it.

I think Pantglas2 is an Author. Such a lovely way with words.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Marydoll Mon 29-Dec-25 08:16:03

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

I missed Georgesgran's post about her daughters and feel so upset for her.
My children were in a similar position and DS1 refused to come to DD's wedding during Covid.
It was only when I had a heart attack, they realised how precious and precarious life is.
It did take ages to nake up, but we got there in the end.
Please do not lise hope.♥️

Pants, how I envy your day out. 💚

Yesterday was a quiet day, I did the church rotas, which were overdue, partly due to my procrastination, but also because I am unwell.
I have just done an E-consult. I am struggling with my respiratory problems and oedema in my ankles means, I can't get my shoes on. I am wearing a pair of summer sliders. and my feet are freezing I have also had to remove my wedding and engagement rings, DD was afraid they were going to need cut off.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

brook2704 Mon 29-Dec-25 08:16:11

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark but not frosty
We’re just on the train down to Edinburgh as we’re meeting up with DS, his partner and his partners mum for lunch today. They’re over from Switzerland for a few days so taking the opportunity to meet up whilst we can. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on news
Hoping Jax is doing ok today
Georgesgran hope you’re feeling a bit better about things today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Jaxjacky Mon 29-Dec-25 08:19:25

Morning and thank you all from a chilly S Hants.
I was rather down yesterday, Saturday was the most painful few hours I’ve ever had, I’m not sure where it puts me on recovery. I’ll make some calls today, the knee brace for a week, to stabilise the hip, is tiresome too.
Today is a new day, no real plans, I hope you all have a good one.

Good morning from chilly and dry South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was quiet, I spent the day pottering and eating cheese and chocolate. I may very well do the same today.

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling again MDoll.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.
