Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 3°C.

Some very industrious ladies here, I envy your stamina.

I agree with the advice for OldD, to see a doctor. He doesn't seem to be improving

My appointment with the surgery pharmacist was cancelled at the last minute yesterday. I was so relieved, as I felt awful and hadn't wanted to go in the first place.
The pharmacist must have been reading my record, for she said she had noticed that I had an appointment next week, to do some tests. Subsequently, she had cancelled that appointment and made two consecutive appointments, to save me coming twice. Someone, using there common sense.
I quizzed her as to why I had yet another medication review. All she kept saying was : We will discuss all this next week , which sounded rather ominous.
P.S. she sounded about ten years old 😄

Despite the cancelled appointment, I will still have to pick up my prescriptions today.
It has worked out well, because I have two pairs of slippers, bought in the sale, to pick up from Pavers , which is in the nearby retail park, five minutes from the surgery.
Coincidently, there is T.KMaxx nearby. 😉
I have a genuine reason for going, I need a frame for a photo of Babydoll 😍

Get well soon, Kitty

Wishing you all, a pleasant day and love to all our mountaineers. 💐

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A tad warmer in South Yorkshire this morning - a balmy 3 degrees! The sky is clear at the moment. None of the forecasters seem to want to commit themselves to when it will snow here. First job this morning will be to make sure the bird bath is not frozen. I thawed it out yesterday and they were almost queueing up to get in!

Yesterday was first day back volunteering at school. A good solid start but I seem to have acquired an extra child on an already overburdened list. “We could take someone off if you really feel it’s too many, but……”🙄! We’ll have to see how it goes. There’s only so much time available to do a worthwhile job.

Writers group at the library this afternoon if the weather allows me to get there.

Glad you’ll be going home, Kitty.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning Mick and everyone.

Wishing Kitty a speedy recovery.

I have an electrician coming this morning. The front door bell has stopped working also one half of a double socket in the kitchen.
My electrician is also a qualified plumber and Gas Safe engineer. A useful person to know. He was recommended by a friend soon after I moved into this house last November.
I'm not sure what I will do with the rest of the day, it depends on what time the electrician comes and how long the jobs take.
Yesterday the NWR meeting was interesting and enjoyable. Our discussion was about jobs we had done whilst at school or university.
Thinking of everyone with problems/illness/sadness in their lives. flowers

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2°. The road is glistening with ice so I won't be going out. Ash your DH seems to have a bad dose. Could it be covid or flu? Kitty I'm glad you are recovering.
Yesterday was fairly quiet. I went back to bed after I dropped off the boys and slept for an hour. Then up to tidy up. I did an hour in the school library removing Christmas displays and setting up a Scottish author display. Then picked up the boys and took them home for an hour of playing. 'The floor is lava' is currently popular!
Today will be quiet. I was up at two having a cuppa and a biscuit and was awake for a couple of hours. I need to recharge my battery and potter. I'm working up to clearing out my hall cupboard but have stuff to take to the charity shop first. But that's for another day. I'll make a chicken curry which will do today and tomorrow. I have more washing from dd to dry in the tumble dryer. They've promised they're getting a new tumble dryer next week. We'll see. Have a good day all

Good morning from a slightly warmer Black Country, where the snow has gone, but the road looks very icy!

Yesterday was spent travelling on the bus, via Merry Hill to buy some M&S readymeals for Mums freezer. Then onto Mums, as someone was visiting from the Care company to complete some paperwork. Then the trek home.

No plans today as u3a Amblers walk has been cancelled. So no walks at all so far this week. Hopefully tomorrows will go ahead.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Kitty

Good morning from a less snowy Suffolk where there has been a partial thaw overnight and my car is now blue rather than white.

I have an all day meeting and for once I’m glad it is on Teams rather than me having to travel 40 miles for a 9.30am start. Will read your posts in the lunchtime break but hope all well with all and KittyL’s op yesterday went according to plan and recovery is well on the way.

Jaxjacky Wed 07-Jan-26 08:36:41

Morning from a frosty S Hants, my phone says it’ s + 1.
Good to hear from you kitty recover well.
My friend had chest and sinus infections diagnosed yesterday, lots of bugs about.
New chair comes today, I hope it’s more comfortable that the current one I’m using.

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

I’m still in bed, enjoying my morning tea. MrB has a dental appointment. We will see about going for a walk later if he’s feeling okay.

Sending love and positive energy to our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing. 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from a grey and murky Northampton; all the snow has gone but fear not, we are promised more tomorrow!

Still not done my dusting and got the sitting room back to rights; I found myself busy with other things yesterday - vacuuming, steam cleaning the kitchen, cloakroom and porch floors and two loads of washing. I have taken the steam cleaner upstairs so I can attack the bathroom floors.
The three boxes of decorations have not yet made it to the garage - it was just too icy to attempt the path outside yesterday, but may try today.

I have kept my nativity scene up, and yesterday, being Epiphany, the three kings' camels were placed at the scene.

Another load of washing today, as I must change the bedding, a job I hate, but it is nice getting between clean sheets!
A Sainsbury's delivery later, and then to sort the sitting room.

RosesandLilac the book was 'What the Shadows Hide' , by M J Lee, a really good murder whodunnit- I started it Sunday, finished it yesterday!
If you like crime novels I can also recommend the Washington Poe series by M W Craven, starting with 'The Puppet Master'.
Also more in the literary fiction genre, anything by Maggie O'Farrell or Margaret Forster. I also like the American authors Anita Shreve, Anne Tyler or Ann Patchett
Gervase Phinn's Yorkshire school novels are also delightful and funny.
Also Colm Toibin's 'Brooklyn' and its sequel 'Long Island'.
And not forgetting 'The Snowchild' by Eowyn Ivey - set in Alaska, a good winter read, especially if you have snow outside!
That lot should keep you going!

Wishing all a pleasant and peaceful day.

Good morning and it’s a tad milder here in Essex.

I had a really lovely pedicure yesterday . I go to her house and she takes her time and does a thorough job. Half the price of salons too.
She also does massage, so I’ll book Dd in with her. She’s been wanting a massage for a while but is wary because of her fibromyalgia. This lady seems to be very knowledgable and will do a good job. 🙏.

Today I’ll go up to town and meet my friend for coffee and a mooch around the market.. (weather permitting).

Dh has his friend coming to take him out for brunch.

Take care all poorlies and keep warm and safe ❄️

Grannyme6 Wed 07-Jan-26 08:55:18

Good morning to all the regulars, readers and newbies. It’s milder here in mid Essex and snow has gone. We’re looking after granddog while DD is away skiing, so walking every day, luckily the walks are well away from traffic - not being used to dogs, it’s a worry that she might shoot off in the wrong direction. She’s been well trained and I’ve learned the appropriate commands!
I wish those who are under the weather a better day, best wishes to kittyl for a good recovery, and special thoughts for fgt. 💐

baubles Wed 07-Jan-26 08:58:14

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. The ground looks treacherous, I’ve become a bit of a scaredy cat in frosty weather.

Best wishes for your recovery kitty.

My DD is forty five years old today, a mere blink of an eye since that day.

This should be our childminding day but we’ve been asked to go tomorrow instead so I’ve an unexpected day off and no idea what to do with it.

I hope you all have a good day, thinking about those struggling one way or another.

Susan56 Wed 07-Jan-26 09:04:44

Good morning from Shropshire. Not quite as cold today, rain forecast.

We’re back to our usual Wednesday routine of collecting DGD from school, out for tea and then on to her dance class.
We have decided that we need to get rid of things we know won’t be used again. There is no clutter as I tend to keep on top of decluttering but we definitely have things that won’t be used again so I will spend a couple of hours this morning on that project.Having cleared both our parents houses over the last couple of years, well mum’s is still in the process, I am very aware that I don’t want our children to have to do that for our house.

So many unwell and struggling at the moment, wishing you all better days and good recoveries for kitty and Jax after their operations.Thoughts with Georgesgran and others with family worries.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Happy birthday to your daughter baubles
Best wishes for a swift recovery kitty

A slightly warmer day in Sheffield
I messaged the owners of the cottage in Scarborough and he said that it’s not too bad so I will be gathering things together today to set off tomorrow. We are going to have a couple of hours in Pickering on our way, it’s a lovely little town.
I have a spare electric blanket which is going in the case.
I am working today. I have given OH lots of instructions on what to pack so goodness knows what we will end up with.
Take care everyone flowers

Grandmabatty Wed 07-Jan-26 09:36:15

Susan I do a Swedish Death Clean every January to try and minimise the amount of stuff my two children would have to clear out, so I commend you. Baubles a very happy birthday to your daughter.
I have just done a Tesco delivery order which will arrive tonight. So, I'm getting organised. Another cup of tea now!

Ashcombe Wed 07-Jan-26 10:12:23

Thank you for your concern regarding olddudders. We are currently at Newton Abbot Hospital where a doctor is examining him.

GrannySomerset Wed 07-Jan-26 10:28:30

Another late start - winter really doesn’t agree with me. Fingers crossed for Oldd and all those battling the numerous illnesses doing the rounds. Just off to the village to stock up in case the weather forecast is accurate for tomorrow, and then singing this afternoon. Really must revert to setting the alarm rather than wasting half the morning.

Susan56 Wed 07-Jan-26 10:53:41

Oh Ash😥I hope some antibiotics are all that’s needed🙏🏻

kittylester Wed 07-Jan-26 10:57:07

Good morning from a cold but bright west midlands.
I normally feed the garden birds but I'm a little bit reticent today! After one of a lovely pair of fancy pigeons was massacred in- front of my eyes by a flipping, great Red Kite! It just swooped out of thin air & killed one of the meek little pigeons, ripping their breast clean-off! Very upsetting but it's completely nature's way.
At least the death was instantaneous & unexpected and literally out of the blue.

RosesandLilac Wed 07-Jan-26 11:15:33

Thank you so much BlueSapphire! That’ll keep me happy for a while 🤗😊
