Good morning from sunny West Sussex by the sea. It must be warmer as next door’s cat is curled up on our shed roof again.

As I wrote yesterday, and then lost my post, my lovely friend and neighbour died on Saturday evening after only 4 days in the hospice. I will miss her so much.

RosesandLilac, when you have read all BlueSapphire’s recommendations you could check out Terri’s ‘50 Books’ thread if you haven’t already. Don’t be put off by the title 😊 and you don’t have to post your reviews if that seems too much like homework! There is a wide variety of reading on there.

It is DGD’s 7th birthday today - and her Dad’s 40-somethingth. We will go over there after school to sing Happy Birthday and give them their cards and presents.

Ashcombe, I hope olddudders gets something to aid his recovery.
Kitty, I hope you’ve managed the required number of pees!

ashcombe fingers crossed that it only needs antibiotics for your dh.

Ashcombe Wed 07-Jan-26 13:17:37

Now safely home and DH has been prescribed antibiotics (strictly no alcohol with them!) and steroids. We really appreciated all the thoughtful messages.

I hope your DH recovers quickly Ash.

Redcar Wed 07-Jan-26 13:29:29

I hope your DH responds quickly to the antibiotics ash.
I meant to say earlier that it was good to see oopsadaisy posting again yesterday.

Still cold here in mid Essex, with a biting wind!

The dreaded steroids!!!

Hope they do the job 👍🏻

(I am week three of a ten week course, I have a love hate relationship with them. I know my lungs need them, but abhor how they make my mind and body feel)

Good to know that your surgery went according to plan Kitty and hope that you are able to go home today.
Have a good convalescence.flowersflowers

I’m glad olddudders has seen someone and is being treated. All the best.

Good Afternoon from the East Sussex coast, Mick and friends. Am always astounded by the early birds, larks, waking in the small hours and being bright and ready to go on GN! I am an owl, go to bed at 11.00pm and unless I have some sort of appointment or event, have breakfast at 9.00am and am not really functioning properly until 10.00.
So glad Mattie still posting at 2.54 pm!
Very cold but sunny here.
Back to my watercolour painting now. Did a wonderful walk on the Nature Reserve yesterday.

Have got home from a careful trip on the yellow peril, to buy a few basic things , but mostly to put my prescription in and go to the bank about something that I couldnt sort out over the phone or internet, which luckily I noticed last night instead of letting myself get into a mess. So it was a case of actually being safer and better on the buggy. Despite the very cold weather , it being market day , meant that there were quite a lot of people about, and a lot of the paths and some of the roads not gritted and decidely slippy looking. So , my bank has automatic doors and I can drive straight in, and was able to reach things I needed from the stalls, so stayed on it, and didnt risk getting off at all. Worked out fine if rather chilly and am hoping to go to the whist tonight, as we actually have not had any snow here today, so fingers crossed.

Just wanted to see how things had gone for several of the gn's and pleased that you have done so well Kitty and hope you got the all clear to go home to your own bed. Marydoll glad that your day ended up for once going in your favour and hope that the meeting next week is positive rather than negative. When people are talking about their own subject , they dont always think of how it can sound to the other person. The pharmacist may just want to wait to see you so that you dont miss something important by telling you different bits at different times , but we naturally think the worst! Aldom, you seem to have struck lucky with your man. Hang onto his phone number, such people are like gold dust!

Time to go and concoct some casserole and have a jacket potato with it, and hopefully it will warm me up enough to go out to the whist. Hope everyone has a good evening

Yay Madeleine - lovely to hear about your day!

Good morning from snowy NE Scotland. Not quite so cold today. During the previous two days, even with gloves on while shovelling snow, my fingers were numb within a short time, but today they didn’t feel all that cold. There was rain overnight, but it didn’t shift enough snow for me to get to a funeral 20 miles away. Our cul-de-sac has had hardly anyone driving on it since the snow began falling on New Year’s morning, so it is well packed, and at least ten inches deep, and more in parts. Despite trying hard to clear it, none of us could reach the end of the road today. I was so disappointed, and feel guilty.

Good morning everyone from the west midlands. Cold here today!
I think I have the January grumps but we'll see if that changes when February arrives? MrIlovedogs has cleared -off for the morning, huzzah! I march to the beat of my own drum & my very bossy DH keeps piping-up & tooting his squeaky little horn!
It's so ruddy annoying!
I hope everyone has the best day possible, it will soon be lunchtime. Yess! 😊
