Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
The usual routine of a bus trip to Bicester or maybe two trips we shall see.
My health Is OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and everyone.
Well, yesterday the bus didn't arrive, so I didn't go to town. I did essential shopping locally. Later I made 'bottom of the fridge ' soup, which was delicious.
This morning I'm having coffee with the NWR group. (National women's register). I'll do some shopping after.
Better get a move on.
My thoughts are with you all, especially those who are going through difficult times. flowers

Good morning from a dry and less chilly Suffolk from where I’m about to enjoy my first cup of tea and read your posts some of which are longer than usual. I hope they don’t contain bad news.

I’m meeting a friend for coffee and then going on to visit my dear friend on respite in the localcarevhome. She is going home tomorrow,so much better than a month ago and feeling confident about managing well there.

Finally I’m dropping DH off at the local garage to pick up his chosen car which has been put through their workshop and comes with a full MOT and a 3 year warranty. Hopefully trouble free motoring for some time.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning from a wet Torbay.

Sorry to hear about your sister, Gagagran but it sounds like she is in good hands.
I hope the eye appointment soon comes through, Grandmabatty. You are admirably stoic despite your suffering, what with your feet as well.
I hope your medication soon does the trick, Sar53. That combination seems to be helping DH.

We are booked on a ferry to France tomorrow so have to pack up and drive to Portsmouth today. Luckily, we’ve had a good night so I expect we shall cope.

Have as good a day as possible. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Morning from a wet S Hants.
Disappointing for you Gbatty I hope the hospital can help.
What a shock Gagagran poor lady, may she recover well.
Not much on here, I’m finding containment with rules quite tedious, although my own head doesn’t help.
May the poorlies improve and all have a pleasant day.

Safe journey * Ashcombe*

Good morning and it’s milder here in Essex but due for rain most of the day.

Dh has an ear check this morning to see if he needs wax removal, before I get Specsavers to come and give him a hearing test and new hearing aids. I’m determined to get his hearing improved. It’s driving us all mad.
As the stroke nurse told us, getting her DH’s new very expensive hearing aids ‘saved her marriage’.

Bridge this afternoon and , hoorah’ I’ll be driving home in the light. The dark afternoons are at last drawing out.

I hope your toilet is fixed RosesandLilac.
Get better soon Sar
Enjoy the new course Marzipan.

Best wishes to all 👋

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 3°C.

I laughed, when read, that you were turning the heating off, Melanie, I have been turning ours up.🥵

What a shock, Gagagran, I hope your sister is OK.

Baubles, I am so sorry to hear about your issues, what a bad night you have had.😘

Yesterday morning, was spent emptying buckets of rainwater in the church. To top it all, there was no heating.🥶
It had been switched off, because the strong winds had blown out the pilot light. Unfortunately, no-one had switched it back on because they had no idea how.
I caught the curate messing about with the controls, he had no idea what he was doing.
The heating is working again, for it needs a woman's touch.😉

I dropped two bags at the charity shop, but my cull is not finished. I have another bag, filled with boots, which I can no longer walk in. Today, like my penpal, it will be jumpers. I am embarrassed about how many I have. My excuse, I hate feeling cold and I am a jumperholic.

This afternoon, I have two back to back medical appointments, with different clinicians. I am feeling quite anxious about it.

So much pain and upset today. Grandmabatty, not the diagnosis, you wanted to be given. 💐

I am always afraid of missing someone out and offending them, so best wishes to all our mountaineers and their families. 💐

Have the best day you can, folks.

Sar, my bronchiectasis flare up is partly the reason I have been on strong antibiotics since the beginning of December.
I hope you feel better, soon.

harrigran Tue 13-Jan-26 08:54:26

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
Yesterday I decided to pull out the dryer and clean behind, I was worrying about dust build up and fire risk. I was surprised to find only one little cobweb.
DD and SIL are travelling home to Brussels today, don't know when I will see her again as she starts her new job in February.
I can empathise Baubles, I had a medical equipment failure the other day ten minutes before visitors were due. Had to get showered and changed in record time.
Have a good day.

grandMattie Tue 13-Jan-26 08:59:22

Bon voyage Ash and oldd.
My prayers will follow you this afternoon, MD; be strong, be brave.
Like you, MD, I'm always fearful of missing someone, so I send a blanket set of good wishes, I hope no one is offended or feels neglected.

Good morning from a dull and dreary Durham. We're off to Fife shortly. A funeral to attend tomorrow. My cousin's wife died suddenly before Christmas. An enormous shock for the family and then such a long wait before the funeral could be held.
Fingers crossed the drive goes smoothly as we have both been quite unwell since New Year. Hopefully on the mend now.
Wishing all as good a day as possible.

Good morning everyone from another dull and dreary damp day in Northampton. Late this morning as I slept till 8.30 - originally woke at 6.30, but turned over and dozed off again

Did more than planned yesterday as when I got back from yoga I found my watch bracelet not just undone, but broken and hanging off my wrist - it was only my close fitting sleeves holding it on. I could have lost it and not noticed... And being a very well known Swiss brand I would have been devastated to lose it. Would also have had to claim on the insurance.
So off I trotted after lunch to the jewellers I bought it from - not just a simple repair job but one that involves sending for spares from the manufacturer and will take at least two weeks. I feel lost without it; I cannot tell you how many times I have already gone to look at the time!

Not really sure how today will pan out - a bit of tidying up this morning, empty the dishwasher, have lunch, and then depending on the weather may join my group walk this afternoon.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning from Shropshire.Milder today.

Yesterday was a tiring day and I haven’t long woken up.Mum was very happy to see us but tired after literally two minutes. She is physically very tiny and frail. We spoke to the dr who said she is slowly dying, then said very slowly and it could be a day, a week, a month or more.We were asked what funeral director we will be using when the time comes so after a couple of hours at the home we visited the funeral home who were so lovely and so another thing sorted.DH said mum is so well looked after she won’t be going anywhere anytime soon!A very unsettling time.

Today I am having a day at home.DH will go to his exercise class.

Grandmabatty, I am sorry you are having problems with your eyes.I hope the hospital can offer reassurance and treatment💐

Safe travels Ash and olddudders.

Thinking of Georgesgran 💐

Thoughts with all our mountaineers and their families.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

January is proving hard for so many posting on here and today, dark and dismal even here in the south west, is no exception. Not a lot to look forward to, though the borders are full of hopeful green shoots, and the fact that the lights will need to be on all day doesn’t help. My thoughts are with all who are struggling, for whatever reason, and hope for some sunshine, literal and metaphorical, in all our lives.

hollysteers Tue 13-Jan-26 10:39:48

Good morning from a mild, damp northwest coast.
On Sunday night I went to an open mic hosted by a friend with soprano friend of mine. It was incredibly busy and we stood for most of the night. Some very talented performers.

Yesterday I had a very painful neck and shoulder and coukd hardly turn my head, but had to get going for a meeting with our new financial advisor. DD drove, over an hour away and DS joined us. It went well so I was pleased with that, although finances are a bit of a mystery to me.

We then repaired to a local pub and had a meal together, which was nice and meant I didn’t have to think about a meal in the evening. When we got back, I put my neck collar on. I haven’t used it for years, but it certainly helped, although they don’t seem to be popular now for sprained necks.
DD drove back to the south and I turned in for an early night.

I’ll dose up with the paracetamol and go to the music club this afternoon, I think I’m on duty so will plaster a smile on my face.
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning all from the west midlands.
It's what, I would call a sullen day here today; damp, drab & rather depressing. I'm dressed purely for comfort & I look quite ridiculous actually! In-fact rather piratesque. "Ooh arrrh, me hearties!" Looking in the mirror, I can see a small, potty-looking lady, wearing clumpy welly-boots & a jaunty red & black stripey hat set at an angle of course!
Mr MrIlovedogs will be in for a treat when he gets home & claps eye's on this vision of alluring sexiness, I sure. 😶

Blossoming Tue 13-Jan-26 11:29:24

Good morning everyone from rainy Lancashire.

It’s much milder here, MrB and I have enjoyed a circular walk around the Dock in the drizzly rain. The Met Office forecast seems to be rather off the mark lately, maybe the updated app will be better. Not feeling 100% but an improvement on yesterday’s wobble.

Thinking as always of our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

Good morning from a very damp West Sussex. I haven’t really got going today - I had a hair cut at 10 and have spent the time since I came back reading the paper online, failing to solve Wordle and catching up on here. As we get the train to Edinburgh on Thursday, I need to do some fridge clearing and general clean up. Fortunately packing will be minimal as we have enough clothes at our East Lothian flat. The main thing is to have enough to eat, drink and read on the journey!

Sorry to hear of so many suffering with coughs and chest problems - I suppose it’s that time of year but I hope you will all respond to your treatments and feel better soon.

Baubles, I hope your digestion has settled down and you get a better night’s sleep tonight.
Susan, your mum has good care and a loving family to visit so I hope her last days will be peaceful, however many or few they are 💐

RosesandLilac, I hope your toilet is functioning again 🙂

Blossoming, glad to hear you are a bit better today. Lovely photo yesterday - I’m hoping we can detour up the west coast on one of our trips north this year as we have always sped past (well, not always sped 😬) on the motorway.

I’d better stop rambling on into the afternoon but good wishes to all whose posts I have read and sympathised with.
Safe journey to Ash and olddudders.
Two trips to Bicester today, Mick?! 🙂
