Living not far from Urmston as I do, there was a serious incident last night near the train station.
Many of you will know we have virtual friends there.
I hope they were not too upset by it and I am sure we all wish them well.

Good morning all from a very damp Stockport.
Dragonfly your DH is doing so well after the grim reports you posted just after his op.
I am so pleased for you both.
I use a rollator if I am going to be out walking any distance but it makes my shoulders ache after a short time and I find myself leaning forward.
However it gets me about when I need it.
I am going out with my GD and her BF, they are insisting, we are going shopping , the first time I will have been out since NYD, they think it will be good for me.
We shall see.

Happy birthday Isummer, enjoy your lunch and your day.

dragonfly well done to your DH! I find it less effort to use the rollator, but the walking sticks are better for my posture! But it’s difficult to do any shopping with two sticks!

Have a good day everyone.

Happy birthday. Isummer 🎉😍🎊🍰 🍾🥂

Good morning just from the Scottish Borders where the days are getting slightly longer.

I had a bad night but had switched off the alarm so had a nice long lie.

Today pottery, some more sorting and perhaps a trip to the tip. Tonight I swear at the community cinema.

A happy day for you Dragonfly smile

I enjoyed your bus trip vicariously Marzipan. Friends of mine are moving to Penzance at the end of January. I've told them I am coming to visit.

Sorry about your friends' worries Baubles
It's awful when there's little you can do apart from listen.

Have the best day you can everyone, whether or not you are writing today we are thinking of you.

Good Morning, Woo Hoo it’s my Birthday today.
70 I can’t quite believe it but better than any alternative and I appreciate I am in reasonably good health.
As my dear Dad used to tell me every year, on this day 70 years ago we had thick snow on the ground. I have been thinking of previous birthdays today and missing my dear husband.
But I have a family lunch for 14 at a local restaurant later today so should be lovely. I will enjoy today.

Good morning,
Another grey, wet and miserable day. At least the fog has lifted, it came in quite thick last night.
An indoor day planned I think.
Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, went to vigil mass last evening so a leisurely start to the day. Just want to add my good wishes to Dragonfly and her DH, so nice to hear of the progress he’s making, especially after how poorly he was.

A visit this afternoon to my friend with short term memory loss with hopes that she has fared better with the short stories I gave her at Christmas. Funnily enough another friend who is making heavy weather of recovering from sepsis and was a voracious reader, is having a similar problem re concentration, just as I write this I’m wondering it the same approach might help.

I also like to read about your Cornish travels and adventures
Marzipan, your energy puts me to shame!

Best wishes to everyone for a good day.

A later good morning from a grey damp Northampton, drizzle and showers forecast all day. A lazyish morning followed by rugby this afternoon - am hoping that it dries up, but where we sit in the stadium is quite sheltered, so hopefully not too wet.

A day spent at home yesterday; the postman arrived at the allotted time to collect the large package, and I read the Saturday newspapers at my leisure. It is DD's birthday tomorrow so I wrapped her presents and wrote her card. She will have the card and one present this afternoon, but will have to wait for the others another two weeks when we have a family lunch out to celebrate the three family birthdays in Jan and Feb - DD, her DH and DS.

DD was born in Cyprus, and it was a lovely sunny day - from my hospital windows I could see the blue Mediterranean on one side, and the snow-covered Troodos mountains on the other.

I also rang the vets yesterday and booked the cats in for their annual check-up and vaccinations, and arranged transport to the surgery with my kind DD-out-law.

Just enjoyed a buttered hot cross bun for my breakfast - lunch will be a sausage butty, then I'm out to the rugby, wearing my new supporters woolly hat in the club colours, black, green and gold. A warming beef hotpot awaits my return.

Wishing all a pleasant and peaceful Sunday.

Your DH is doing great Dragonfly, long may it continue x

Good morning everyone from drizzly Lancashire.

Today’s excitement is a trip to the pharmacy to collect a prescription. Afterwards we will have our walk.

Thinking as always of our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

A quick morning all from a foggy West Oxfordshire.

I’m off to church shortly so have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from a cloudy south coast. Not really sure what’s going on out there but it looks grey.
Going to the allotment shop this morning to pay the membership subs for our group. I won’t walk to our plot for a recce though because high tide means I will have to park further away and I’m nursing a sore foot (PF)
After lunch prep I’ll get on with knitting my chunky cardigan- similar to the one Jade was wearing on the Traitors. Thanks to Aldi’s yarn drop last Thursday I bought some lovely wool at less than half price!
Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday.

WhiteSwan63 Sun 18-Jan-26 08:54:24

Good morning everyone from a rainy dull East Coast.
Reading your posts and there are so many talented grans doing so many crafts of all kinds. I wish I had a talent too but I can barely sew a button on anything or cook.

We had a lovely family meal last night with the DC and GC. My little 3 year old marched with me to the toilet in her ballet style party dress and rainbow tights delighting everyone and said in a loud haughty voice ‘if my mummy eats my tomato and cucumber I will be very annoyed with her’ she’s too cute and I was pleased to see it still on her plate when we got back to the table saving her mummy an ear bashing.

My best friends bought me a Next voucher for my birthday so DH is driving me over to spend it today. I don’t need too much and I’m trying to lose a little weight so I might buy a cosy oversized sweatshirt to wear day to day. I want to buy a lamp from there too because when we took a lamp from the dining room to accommodate the Christmas tree we put it in the lounge and it lit a dark corner lovely so I want a new lamp for that space.
I’ll take some cooked meat left over from Christmas from the freezer and cook it for dinner tonight with veg and gravy.

Hoping grandmattie is ok.
Have a good day everyone with many moments of joy 🌺

Good morning all from a damp misty Black county.
Lovely evening with friends it was good to catch up.
Marzipan you day sounded lovely the plaque you bought would be ideal for my wild swimming DiL.
Madeleine hope you feel better as the day progresses.
dragonfly great news on DH progress one step at a time.
Have yet to decide on dinner today will see what takes my fancy later.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

GrannyIvy Sun 18-Jan-26 08:48:43

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is dry but a lot of rain overnight. Today is a quiet day pottering, a roast lamb dinner and an extra bowling session for DH late afternoon. I will enjoy quiet time with my book.

Wishing a good day to all

Marzipan22 Sun 18-Jan-26 08:43:00

Yes Jaxjacky, the gardeners say it will take 18 months to replant but first they have the very tricky task of cutting up and removing the fallen trees from the island. The island is steep and the harbour access small. It must be heartbreaking for them.

Liberty Sun 18-Jan-26 08:40:04

Good morning from a dreary looking Suffolk after DH and I both had a disturbed night with several visits to the loo, waking each other, not intended,as we did. No idea why but hope it doesn’t happen tonight.

The text on the posts is larger and easier to read this morning but I don’t think I’ve done anything to cause it! Just wondering if there might be a 3rd unusual thing happening today!

Another quiet day at home which will be enjoyable. I feel this period of hibernation might be slowly coming to an end as we have just booked a short holiday in and around Durham in mid March.

Hope all have a good day.

Jaxjacky Sun 18-Jan-26 08:33:22

Just read your update dragonfly brilliant news.

Jaxjacky Sun 18-Jan-26 08:31:18

Morning from a dry S Hants.
I like your hug of 9deg ginny 🙂
Is there a replanting programme for The Mount Marzipan? what devastation.
Couple of phone calls to make today, catching up with friends, and exercises to do.
We’re having takeaway Indian tonight with my son, last proper meal together before he moves out as he’s on late shift next week.

Good morning from mild and damp South Lanarkshire.

Dinner with a couple of friends was quite a somber, sad evening as they each have serious problems within their families and are literally sick with worry. I so wish there was something I could do for them.

We have slightly more complicated than usual Sunday ahead due to the logistics of helping DD get children to different places followed by a very much later than originally planned lunch with DH’s siblings. I’ll easily walk to Mass and not so easily make my way back uphill.

Thinking of those with worries or illness to contend with. Have the best day possible everyone.
