Good morning from a damp looking Suffolk where rain is forecast all day. We had an early start to the day as DH had to be at the hospital an hours drive from here for 8am. He is taking part in a research project run by Oxford university which means a visit to the hospital every 4-6 weeks for a number of years. Luckily most are mid morning.

I have my keep fit class soon and then I’m going out for lunch with a friend who was very recently widowed. She is trying very gradually to get out and do things and she suggested lunch today which we are both looking forward to.

We had such lovely news from DGD2 last evening. She received within the space of an hour 2 offers from 2 universities for a place in their vet schools. She was over the moon as, although she knew that places on this course are offered later than on others, she had become a bit despondent when people kept asking her if she had any offers as all her friends applying for other courses, had received theirs.

Hope all have the best day, possible whatever your circumstances.

Good morning Mick and everyone.
We enjoyed an excellent meal at the catering college yesterday. Hats off to the young students who produced such delicious food and service.
Later today I'm having a meal with my family to celebrate my birthday.
Sending love and strength to all who are finding life challenging. flowers

Good morning from Shropshire.Rain again!

Yesterdays appointment went well.A lovely consultant with positive news and also very encouraging. He complimented me on my work towards my recovery, I said well I think the medication helped but he said it wouldn’t work on its own so very encouraging.

Today back to Shrewsbury this morning for another appointment then this afternoon an appointment at another hospital in another town🤪I am very grateful for all the follow up and treatment but will be glad to be home tonight😴Two more appointments this week but luckily they are follow ups by phone.

Mum has another infection but keeps going.Still in reasonable spirits but physically weakening.

Thoughts with our absent friends and mountaineers and wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

Yesterday was an interesting day. DH woke up with a 'really, really bad cold' so went back to bed. Luckily I am really well recovered apart from the loo trips so we coped. I drove, for the first time since my operation, to the egg farm and didn't hit anything or anyone - as far as I know.

Today, DH seems a fair bit better and we may go for a drive. This evening I am helping on a Carer's zoom course. I hope i can stay awake.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a grey Cambridgeshire. Not sure what we are doing today would like to do a walk but we are forecast heavy rain today. It’s been a difficult time this month with lots of family stress. DGD2 aged 11 is struggling to go into school. She is unable to do the school bus at the moment and as soon as she arrives by car with DD2 to school she has a panic attack and is sick. She eventually goes in and just managing to keep her there most days. This has all come out of nowhere just before she broke up for the Christmas holidays. I picked up from school yesterday and it breaks my heart to see her suffering. She is awaiting an urgent paediatric referral and counselling through the school but it may take ages to all come through. I’m sitting with my morning coffee awaiting today’s update from DD2. Hopefully then we will get ourselves together and decide what to do today.

It seems many are suffering the January blues and wishing the best day possible to all 💐

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and damp. Pantglas I do a Swedish Death Clean every January. This year I'm doing it in stages.
Yesterday was a quiet day. When I picked up the boys, dgs1 was downhearted because he hadn't been chosen to go through to the final of his poem recitation. He got over it when we had a chat. The boy is competitive but needs more resilience. Dsil had to shave for work purposes- he wears face protection- and he looks about 12! Dgs1 found his daddy's naked face very funny. Both boys have decided that they'll never shave. ,😂
Last night, despite being up a few times for loo, I had a good sleep. Today I shall probably go to the school library and pick up my prescription. I really need to go to a charity shop to get rid of stuff. For days I've been hearing a bird chirp when I've been in the car. I finally realised it's one of the baby books stashed in the boot which is making the noise! Dinner will be some of the steak casserole I made yesterday. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from a damp but bright East Coast. Hope there will be some sunshine to lift the spirits today.
We have just had a video chat with DS in China discussing flights and plans for our visit at the end of April.

Yesterday DGD arrived in the morning a vision of pink sparkle even down to her shoes and had a lovely time with us with lots of playing. DH put the big car track up as big as it could go which she played with and it’s still up for DGS after school today. He will either be interested and play with it or ignore it and stick to his games tablet. We picked up GD1 and took them to McDonald’s. DD was sad from the funeral, she said in parts it was beautiful though.

Today I’m going to the gym and this afternoon picking up DGS from school. I’m going to make myself banana and egg pancakes for breakfast. I’m on a loose weight thing and health kick as usual but nothing is coming off. Age and a slow metabolism don’t help. I’m tempted to join slimming world yet again.

Hoping everyone has a good day thoughts to those struggling. Best wishes to all who are celebrating today. 🌺

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton, rain forecast all day.

Met my friend at the cinema yesterday and I very much enjoyed my second viewing of Hamnet - I got so much more from it yesterday, and it was definitely worth seeing again. Afterwards popped into Waterstones and picked up a book I'd ordered for DS's birthday. Then luckily there was a bus waiting for me at the bus stop and I was home by 5pm.

DS is expected at some time today to replace the batteries in my smoke alarm, although it has now stopped beeping. I have also filled in an online survey with our local fire station regarding a possible home fire safety visit, as apparently living alone at my age I am classed as vulnerable! I await a response from them.

A Sainsbury's delivery is expected over lunchtime.

Out tonight for dinner with my ladies wine group - a nice gastro-pub has been booked on DD's recommendation. I will find my own way there on the bus, but DD will drop me back home.

My best wishes to all struggling, and hope all have a pleasant day.

A later Good Morning from Stockport.
Another damp and mood lowering morning here.
I spoke by phone yesterday to my friend who I usually see on Wednesday, we haven’t met up for 3 weeks now due to one or other of us not being up to it.
She was very low yesterday so she will ring this morning if she is coming.
I’m sorry to say she brings me down so I won’t be sorry if she calls off again.
I had a delivery of Cook meals on Monday and have really enjoyed the two I have had, I may cook something myself tonight though, I don’t want to get into the habit of just relying on them but just use them occasionally to get me into eating a decent meal.
Have the best day you can everyone

Good morning from Durham.
Such a gloomy day outside but will make an effort to get out in the fresh air yet again. It helps prevent that stuffy head feeling I get at this time of year.

GC we're delightful after school yesterday. The girls can sometimes get rather silly and giggly together but they were content cuddling up together on the sofa watching TV.

A concentrated clean and tidy in one of the spare bedrooms today so hopefully I'll find some things to fling. My charity bag is ready and waiting.

I have the bank to contact too as some savings which have matured need to be moved about. Wish me luck that I have all the required security information to hand!

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannySomerset Wed 21-Jan-26 09:34:23

A damp and dismal morning but a nice day in prospect as I have singing this afternoon and we are having lunch out first. Getting up, clean and dressed was slow as my painful wrist is no better and am now waiting for pain killers to kick in before drying my hair. I get these flare ups, which usually last a few days, but having my right hand out of action is particularly irksome. All part of dealing with this endless January I guess.

Thoughts to those with real problems and illness to deal with and which put my inconvenience in the shade.

karmalady Wed 21-Jan-26 09:51:28

Thank you to our role models, *Swedish death cleaning it is*

I need a sit down, my bed is covered with paperwork, 3 years worth. Next job is to unearth may case and two zipped files

You gave me that kick up the arris that I needed

hollysteers Wed 21-Jan-26 10:22:12

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Music club enjoyable yesterday with new members arriving. They certainly get a wide variety of music, from classical to rock. I was excused from hosting and clearing away as I’m still suffering with a painful neck. Nothing stops me singing though!

DGD is in Japan so lots of photos, plus flying DD in America. DD is working out our annual family holiday and is very efficient as it can get quite complicated.

I’m debating whether to go to the usual lunchtime concert as I have an opera co rehearsal tonight and being a pain in the neck, it can be too much. It’s a pity they are both on the same day.
Thoughts to all🌺

A late good morning from me in South Lanarkshire. I’m just getting ready to leave for lunch with friends and then childminding duties but I had to comment on your beautiful picture Marzipan, one of those that inspire thought, thank you.

Happy Birthday Aldom, I like reading about how you are gradually settling in your new ‘place’, a big challenge at our time of life.

I hope things improve for your wee DGD GrannyIvy, and that she gets the support she needs soon, so distressing for her and all of you.

What an absolute pest baubles, how disappointing for both of you.

Good wishes to all for a better day x

Aldom Wed 21-Jan-26 10:59:44

Thank you Brook smile

Good morning everyone from overcast Lancashire. There’s a cold east wind blowing.

The footbridge is locked this morning, maybe a storm is expected, so we walked down to the Dock gates and back. The ducks are sheltering from the wind along the dock wall and under garden hedges.

Best wishes to all who are struggling with life at the moment.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

Ilovedogs22 Wed 21-Jan-26 11:23:43

Good morning from the soggy west midlands, what a miserable day it is here, so very depressing! I'm stuck inside today waiting for a delivery & all I can hear is the drip, dripping of rain & the clunking of the crows on the roof clearing-out the gutters; which is actually quite decent of them. Best wishes to all. 😊
