Another Scam

Yes I have to hold back from snapping as I have frequent hospital/palliative care calls which either come up as "withheld" or a number I don't know.
So a neutral hello or wait till whoever is calling announces him/herself.,
If a scam call I either just put the phone on the work top till they get fed up and go away, or say no you are not from BT/Microsoft/local energy advisor. You are lying and this is a scam call. I usually end up saying push off....or ruder.
But it is so sad knowing that they obviously do entrap some people or at the least worry people.

When I used my landline, I had an answerphone kind , so that if I was not in it would take a message, but also with my bad back, friends knew to hold on for a little longer as I was probably struggling to get to the phone. If I ever got a call that I considered dodgy, I would simply state "for your information, all my calls are recorded!" With dodgy ones usually they put the phone down quickly. But on one occasion someone purporting to be from Age Concern rang. I knew that this was a scam, and let them waffle on for a while, and then told them the same, then rang our local police and spoke to them and said I had the recording etc., and that it sounded as though they were coming into this area. They were pleased to get the information and a couple of weeks later they did arrest a couple of people, so hopefully I helped a little in that. But it is so sad these days that you always have to answer the phone in quite a brusque manner, until you find it is the hairdresser or your friend ringing at an unusual time.

I recently had a phone call on my mobile claiming to be from Microsoft. The caller stated that my pc was compromised and I must log on straight away, allow him access and he would sort everything out in an instant!

I very calmly told him that I knew he wasn’t genuine, that I knew he was attempting to get access to my personal data, and I knew he was operating a scam and did he think his mother was proud of him……………..I also told him where to go! 🤭

I had an email purporting to be from Microsoft but the letter i was an exclamation mark and the sending address looked very strange.
