For a long time we have watched the bright and beautiful Carol present the weather, she has always come across as a genuinely nice person and has made even watching bad weather forecasts a pleasure.
But like all of us she is retiring in April to enjoy a new chapter in her life with her husband and family.
All the best Carol 👋🏽

While I wish her well in her retirement and bear her no ill-will at all, I will be delighted when she's gone. I'm irritated by her accent and 'mumsy' mannerisms and would much prefer to see a straight weather forecast in the style of, eg: Alex Deakin or Claire Nasir.

Shes Scottish. You dislike Scottish accents? It says a lot about you

No, I don't dislike all Scottish accents. Maybe it's something to do with the pitch of Kirkwood's voice, I dunno. I just do dislike it.

Each to their own, personally I love her accent and her friendly manner, it doesn’t seem fake or over the top unlike some other presenters.

I personally will miss her and her dress style.

Basgetti and Fallingstar That’s a trifle snide. Always one what?

I like her and glad she is looking forward to the next stage in her life.

This conversation reminds me of a bygone age when TV presenters were almost like friends. We used to sit down and say " Oh I like X". They wished you a cheery good morning or good evening.
Life seemed safer and more predictable.

I will be sorry to see her go having watched her for years. I didn't realise retirement was on the cards. She will discover how busy life can be without the interference of work.

Basgetti

Perhaps she’s finally had enough of the patronising way one or two of the presenters talk to her ……. ?

Good luck to her.

Oh yes, I will be glad about it, put me off watching her as they were so cringe. Hope they don't start with someone else.

Difficult person. This post is in chat, not news.

I can watch her reading the weather for 10 minutes and still have no idea what weather is coming up!

JamesandJon33 Wed 28-Jan-26 14:24:12

Far from it , Basgetti I am not a difficult person, Just didn’t notice it was in Chats.

I've read a couple of her books, which were very good.

I wonder whether she will concentrate more on her writing?

Ktsmum Wed 28-Jan-26 15:18:01

I used to love her with Chris Evans when he did Radio 2 breakfast show, they were so funny and he used to make her late for her tv slot many times

Always so bright and cheerful and and seems to genuinely get along with all the other presenters. No edge to her just a very genuine person who will be missed by many. Hope she and her husband have a very happy retirement together.

Carol will be missed. She is a warm and lovely weather presenter. She brightens the day even if its raining. I hope she enjoys many great years in retirement with her new handsome husband

HevH Wed 28-Jan-26 16:58:55

I enjoy watching her and don’t think anything about her is ‘mumsy’.
She always looks lovely and has an easy friendly manner. I will miss her weather forecast in the mornings. Happy retirement Carol.

I do like to listen to her giving the weather forecast, but wish she wouldn't wear such tight dresses!! Not sure if she wears her own clothes or whether she is 'dressed' by the BBC!

DrWatson Wed 28-Jan-26 18:14:33

Yes, she seems nice, but so do other weather men/women? And though I rarely see it, it's Morning TV, just barely moving wall-paper?? Try Radio4 instead (other stations are available)??

Mojack26 Wed 28-Jan-26 19:06:08

Yes,will miss her but she is quite right....life is too short...I wish her well travelling and enjoying the time with with her new husband.
