A sobering fact 81 years on.

This day in 1945 Auschwitz was liberated. A rabbi has worked out that if a minute's silence was observed for every Holocaust victim, we would be silent for 11.5 years. It really throws it into focus for me.
On this topic, the film Zone of Interest is available on Channel 4. It centres on the Kommandant of Auschwitz dividing his time between the camp and his family. I don't think I have ever seen a more disturbing film. Worth seeing if you can.

I had just been born 81 years ago. Something I think of whenever we are reminded of that wicked war is how young the soldiers were. Sent away to die at 18 and their sisters and sweethearts raising babies at home. I heard a reporter from the Neuremberg trials detailing the horrors found and she was 18 too.

Some idiotic people wear them as a ‘laugh’….think Prince Harry at a fancy dress party.
Other strange people collect Nazi memorabilia.

Nexttime I'm there I am going to check see if the armband is still there and how much it costs...how could you even know it was genuine?

Not even in museums. I now think that maybe I should have bought it myself and burned it as someone suggested...

I disagree: believe it’s important that each generation is aware of what happened.

Shame Britain had not heard the horrors BEFORE the war ended. Perhaps then would be more determined not to give away half of Europe to that other murder and war criminal.

I think that most aren’t genuine.
