Oh, fgt, what a shame! You were looking forwards to locking $1m.

Nice easy care bush or plant for a tub
Hope nobody minds me opening a new kitchen.

lOOking! 😔
Good evening kitchen folk. I have developed a new super power. I am invisible woman. I went to a local garage today to look at new cars and potentially order one. There was one customer being attended to- a younger woman- and a number of other salesmen on the phone or looking at a computer screen. I walked the length of the showroom, stopping at cars and looking at them, then turning to the 'salesmen ' who all fervently ignored me. I could see people in an office who were busy chatting but couldn't see me either. Then I went outside to look at cars there. 2 men managed to avoid me too! I'm going to go back tomorrow to see if my experience is any better. If not, there will be an email sent to the manager who goes by the name of Chick. Then I'll join the X women
Good evening. Not much happening here today, went to the pharmacy for a prescription then had a walk down the dock. FGT2 I didn’t mean to upset you last night, I do apologise for my clumsy comment ♥️
Grandmabatty my unmarried friend gave a salesman a right mouthful when in answer to a technical question, he told her to bring her husband along and he would explain it to him! It finished with “I’m looking to buy a new car today and I won’t be buying it here!!”
Prepare your answer before you go and let us know how it goes! 🤣
Nannytopsy, I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt as there was nobody on reception. However I suspect my appearance of old wumman meant they thought I was not a viable buyer. How wrong they were!
Hi all, how rude Grandmabatty, I assume the salesmen are on commission, mmm..
A sunny, breezy day, but I’ve been quite slothful, a few tours of our driveway, then watching sport, up for my obligatory walk about at least every hour, if not more often. (12 wobbly steps, no crutches).
I shall do better tomorrow.
Enjoy your evenings all.
A sunny day here too jaxjacky with a cool breeze. A few tours of your driveway, then walking about every hour doesn’t sound too slothful to me! Well done for the steps without crutches, take it easy though.
Seated yoga was challenging this morning, due to the problems with my back I’m not able to do some of the moves, especially the twisting poses. I’m not too good at the balance poses either, but it’s nice to try, and I enjoy the chat afterwards.
Then I dug out a few borage plants from the front garden which were invading from my neighbour’s garden. I hope my neighbour will cut the front grass tomorrow.
My car passed its MOT today, good for another year hopefully. It’s 15 years old with a very low mileage and I’m quite fond of it!
grandmabatty how rude of the car salesmen, I hope you become more visible tomorrow.
I hope the soops are comfortable and warm, it looks as though winter will make an appearance later this week.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.
How irritating GrandmaBatty! Shades of Julie Robert’s there trying to shop on Rodeo Drive when her image didn’t fit the ‘criteria’. Remember she enlisted the help of her hotel manager, dressed up, shopped elsewhere then called in to say “Big mistake ladies!”
Absolutely NO apology needed Blossoming as no offence taken! Please put it right out of your mind dear lady.
I’ve been out to book club. Such kindnesses shown to me and hugs given. I filled up a bit but rallied, thoroughly enjoying the lovely discussion between the 10 of us. Came home a small noticeable sadness as for the first time in 20 years of book club there was no Himself on the sofa to ask me how it went.
I did it though 💪 and survived. May’s meet up will hopefully be easier now condolences have been given to me. Such lovely friends “We’re here to catch you”. A lump in my throat at that.
xx
Definitely FGT. As I'm paying for the car outright, it was a big mistake! I'm glad your book club meeting was successful.
Love that scene Grandmabatty. I had a similar experience a few years ago, at an upmarket dealership. Obviously, I must look poor as I wandered among the vehicles on display. I do hope they saw me drive off in one of their models bought there two years earlier. Big mistake - huge!
They will be disappointed if you buy it outright - they make more money in selling you finance.
When I bought my new car last year the people at the dealership behaved beautifully. OH stayed in the background while I spoke to the guy, arranged a test drive and on our return said I wanted to buy it! I bought it outright/part exchange with no finance, but they were ok: I had the same experience at a different dealership when I bought my previous car. Both times it was in Oxford.
Thank you FGT2
I didn't go out at all today. The weather has been vile all day, so I stayed in. I can always look at cars tomorrow. So I've had a very lazy day and I feel the better for it. Enjoy the rest of Thursday kitchen folk
Good afternoon, it is an awful day weatherwise here ,very wet and blustery.
I have been out for lunch with a long standing friend but one I don’t see very often.
We just picked up as if we see each other every week as we did at one time but families and changes in our lives has ruled that out however it was lovely to chat again and catch up.
I hope our poorlies are ok and the same goes for their carers.
I have been there and know how hard it can be, but we do it with love.
Thought also to our Kitchener’s with painful anniversaries coming up.
It is so wet now, heating chugging away, no hope yet of trying to save fuel.
Take care everyone.
Vile here too Grandmabatty a garden pot had to be rescued by MrJ, it was dancing around the garden. Our heating has just come on utbb, it is chilly out too (I stuck my head outside of the patio door)!
Glad book club passed with comforting arms to hold you FGT.
Have a gentle evening all, especially those struggling x
It is very blustery here, and the sky has been mostly grey.
Nothing to report from Gravy Grange
(((Hugs))) to all our kitchen friends in need 🙋♀️
Same awful weather here today, we even had a snow flurry this afternoon, but I’ve had a good day with a nice friendly volunteering session this morning and then getting on with admin jobs this afternoon. I’ve renewed both the car insurance and DHs travel insurance for another year, I’ve booked a hotel for a night away next weekend as it’s DHs birthday, then booked flights to see DS in Switzerland in May/June time. I’ve been through my emails, unsubscribed from a load of unnecessary rubbish and sorted the inbox. I’ve still more things to do but I definitely feel I’ve made some progress today - at long last!
I hope you get a new car sorted grandmabatty how rude of the garage! I’d be really annoyed
Pleased you got out for lunch with a good friend Uttb and hope you feel better for it
Fgt ❤️
Thinking of all our friends in the quiet corner, take care all x
A profitable day for you Brook
I got the bus over to my stepfather for a couple of hours this afternoon. We enjoyed some Speyside malt and raised our glasses to Himself as today his obituary notice with photograph was published in our local weekly newspaper. It seemed surreal to be honest, looking at him even being in there at all.
We sat a while and talked about his common sense, his kindness and generosity. We remembered so many happy times and were comforted to wander down memory lane for a while. My stepfather said a few quiet words in Gaelic as he raised his glass to a man well loved by our little family. 💙
