Good Morning Everyone,
its dark and cold outside but dry at the moment here in Brackley.
Today the usual bus trip to Bicester shop and chat to others I know.
May do a double run as well.
My health is OK , I try to have the occasional Protein drink to see if helps.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry Bristol. It was a lovely day, except that it rained steadily when I got off the bus, and didn’t take an umbrella as the sun was shining when I left. It stopped as soon as I got indoors!
At breakfast time, I got a text from DD asking to come last night instead of this evening as everyone was busy tonight. That’s when I got wet.
FAB cafe went ok, except that we were 8 - pride comes before a fall. The t’ai chi class run by AgeUk, which swells our number, doesn’t take place on the last Wednesday of the month, and there is no room in the hall.
I got quite a bit of sewing done. And, yes of course, I’ll take a photo of the quilt.
Today, my own t’ai chi class. I also need to do my Spanish homework for tomorrow as I forgot on Tuesday.
May the day be kind to the mountaineers, gentle to all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Kent where it is a dry four degrees.

Having a cold doesn't help my bank balance. I had a random idea yesterday of knitting a 1970's tank top so I spent £19 online on some wool yesterday.

Plan to take it easy again today.

Thinking of everyone affected by storm Chandra.

Good morning from s somerset, it will be raining again today, more yellow warnings for today and tomorrow and a major incident has been declared

I remember looking at houses in some of the pretty areas, now affected by flooding and I am so grateful that I chose here. Even amazon did not make it here yesterday

I did some de-cluttering yesterday but did a deep dive into the bin to `rescue` a small cutting mandolin in a box. I examined it properly and it is far too small to be any use so it is back in the bin. I have a nice bit of space in a kitchen corner cupboard, now that I have removed some other items.

No idea about today, I have already put tiger nuts to soak so I can make `milk` later and alfalfa seeds are soaking, to grow into alfalfa sprouts. It will be very difficult for growers to close the hungry gap this year. Personally I have a lot of stored squash from my allotment and will grow sprouted seeds.

Perhaps I will get out this morning, just a walk, cabin fever is lurking

Have a good day

Good morning all from a chilly Stockport.
My friend who can be hard work came yesterday afternoon and was quite amenable, we passed a pleasant couple of hours and shamefully had a glass of sherry instead of coffee or tea.
I had an early meal and an early night to make up for the bad one the night before.
A decent sleep until 4ish.
Today I have a Sainsbury’s delivery between 11 and 12.
That is the extent of the excitement for today.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a dark, cold but so far dry Black Country.

It was a lovely sunny day yesterday. Mum went off in the mini-bus to the Day Centre(it is literally 3 mins drive away). I went with her to settle her in and see the Manager about finances etc. Popped back later as they wanted the first visit paid in cash! Mum seemed quite happy there. I video called her early evening, and she said it was ok, although she cannot remember what they did or what she had for lunch. But she did say she enjoyed talking to people. Fingers crossed for next week.

Then I popped into Wolverhampton to meet DS for lunch, catch up on family news.

Then on way home on the bus, got off at Merry Hell Hill to collect a jumper I had ordered from M & S.

No real plans today, could go on a walk in our local country park, but it would be very muddy, and there are 2 lots of roadwork lights to navigate on the way.

Wishing you all the best day possible. Thoughts with all those with health struggles, FGT's flowers

Good morning, it’s still dark, we are forecast rain ☔️

I a, waiting for an email from M & S so I can go and clock and collect at the M & S Food Hall. I also need to get flowers or a nice pot plant to add to my DiL’s birthday gift.

Thoughts and prayers for those not posting at the moment 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from Sheffield

My family is coming for tea tonight as normal.
Shepherds pie today followed by lemon posset. My DS requested the posset and as he can twist me round his little finger that’s what I shall make.

I’m hoping to get out at lunchtime for a walk. This is the trouble with work and home being in the same building. I have to make an effort to to see daylight, especially in the winter months

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. I’ve no idea what the weather is doing this morning as it is still dark but I don’t think the forecast is good. Yesterday it was glorious; calm, mild and sunny. GS came over to help me with some stuff in the house. I wanted to move some furniture in one of the bedrooms to make more space, and turn my king sized mattress.
We drove over to Curry’s to have a hands on look at some tumble dryers as I’m thinking of buying one. He gave me the benefit of his expert advice as nineteen year olds know all about these things don’t they🙄?
We had a walk round the top of our valley in the lovely sunshine after lunch and then he spent the rest of the afternoon doing coursework on his laptop before going home.
If the weather is not too bad today I will go out with the walking group.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp and dismal corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed our breakfast, eventually, goodness it was busy with people taking advantage of a dry and sunny morning. Called in to a local, very cold, museum before spending several hours deciding on a holiday for much later in the year. The rain returned for a while early evening towing a yellow warning behind it for the next two days.

A (far too) early visit from our gas engineer today followed by all sorts of admin for me. Mr C will hover over the engineer while I stay well out of his way.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 29-Jan-26 07:10:33

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still in bed and will get up in an hour or so.

I spent rather too much time staring at my iPad yesterday! Three V&A lectures on the Renaissance, another lecture on artists who painted London, and finally two Rest is Politics podcasts! But, I made a new ice cream recipe too - orange marmalade - and it was delicious,

It is my Book group today over lunchtime at the village cafe. We will talk about books we read over Christmas. I read many.

Have a good day. Thoughts of Mary D and the FGT2S.

Good morning from a cold but dry Torbay, where we arrived safely yesterday afternoon following an interesting journey home! Thank you for all the good wishes: they worked!

Some squally showers and flooded roads were encountered, mainly in Dorset, but we were all negotiating them sensibly and none was too deep. I was more than ready for our brunch stop at MacDonald's near Dorchester, having survived until then on a banana and breakfast bar.

It’s good for your Mum to enjoy some socialising, NannyJan53 so I hope she can be persuaded to attend the Day Centre regularly. Hearing mention of Merry Hell brought back memories of our years of living in Staffordshire.

I’m having a cut and colour this morning whilst DH needs to seek out a barber. This was postponed from before our trip to France as he wasn’t well due to a cough and asthma being troublesome. The steroids and antibiotics certainly worked their magic!

Have as good a day as possible, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

hollysteers Thu 29-Jan-26 07:24:50

Good morning from a dark northwest coast. It has been very warm in the bedroom as I forget to turn the convector heater off (ch off obviously). Combined with fleece bedding and pyjamas, it’s been like the tropics.

Dreamt a lot, a classical pianist figuring and my late DH with me😢 The window cleaner turned up yesterday which was sunny if cold, but I still felt under the weather and didn’t go to the opera co rehearsal in the evening. I was glad to be under my heated throw and watch “Dragonwyk” from 1946, an amusing melodrama. Not meant to be amusing of course.

Housework and music study today. Thoughts to all🌺

RosesandLilac Thu 29-Jan-26 07:25:43

Good morning, it’s damp and dark here on the hillside in south Glos, another muddy dog walk today 🙄
I enjoyed my one to one art lesson yesterday, once again learning more from my excellent teacher. Later there was the monthly zoom catchup with others in the group, it’s always good to see them all.
Today I really must tackle the housework properly, the living room is in a muddle and cluttered and it’s making my teeth itch!
I could do with being far more ruthless about what I keep so a good clear out is the plan………in theory anyway 😃
Best wishes to you all 🌹

kittylester Thu 29-Jan-26 07:26:55

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire.

Today, I am aiming to walk to the village as I need to buy a burthday card and small present for DD1. DD2 is coming at teatime as she and DH are going to the football. She treated DH as he has been looking after me.
We also have a Sainsbury's delivery.

Sending love and support to all who needs it - especially those not currently posting.

Good morning from Malta where it looks sunny outside but the forecast says it will be cloudy with a high of 16°C (real feel 12°C).

We also have a yellow wind warning in place and judging from the trees opposite, it’s really blowing a hoolie.

Thankfully, yesterday morning, divers located the body of the young girl who drowned. The whole of Malta is mourning this precious child who came on holiday excited to see the sea and ended up being taken far too soon.😞

I went and did my shopping at last so have stocked up. It was a very warm day yesterday which made a change from the mixed bag of weather we’ve been experiencing.

The boys and DD3 arrived after school but I had a doctor’s appointment so only had half an hour with them, sadly. I asked DD3 to bring them today as I do treasure time spent with them.

I had planned to go out today but in view of the wind, I shall stay put.

I haven’t read all your posts yet so shall do so now while I drink my tea in bed (I’m late today having woken at 3 then gone back to sleep until 8). Why is it that the first cuppa of the day always tastes better than any other?

Thinking of you and wishing you a good day.🤗

brook2704 Thu 29-Jan-26 07:38:20

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark with some rain in the forecast for later
Pleased to hear your mum had a good day yesterday nannyJan, I hope she enjoys her days there
I’ve an online volunteering session this morning then going out for a coffee this afternoon with DH. I’ve a couple of parcels to drop off at the post office, some food shopping, bedding to change and wash today and the ongoing cleaning.
So sad Bellas
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

EkwaNimitee Thu 29-Jan-26 07:38:33

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark but dry Carlisle.

Yesterday was bright and sunny so I nipped into town to collect my prescription, then treated myself to coffee and biscuits before taking a bag of clothes and bedding round to the charity shop. Then a pass through M&S food hall and home.
I had the ironing done before lunch and, straight after that some admin. I managed to get some reasonably priced insurance for a holiday. It can be astronomical especially if it's a cruise and/or to remote parts and, of course, my age and a list of medical conditions though these are minor stuff unlikely to cause problems. Perhaps I should invest in insurance companies....
Today, a walk beckons, followed by some light cleaning and maybe baking. There is admin to do and a Tesco delivery. After lunch, I should finish my book, I won't be adding it to my collection for a possible re-read some day.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Redcar Thu 29-Jan-26 07:39:40

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry and cloudy. No frost this morning, unlike yesterday. I didn’t go out for my walk in the morning as it was too frosty, but went at lunchtime instead. It was lovely, dry and the sun was warm on my back. I dusted and vacuumed the hall, stairs, landing and bedrooms in the morning, then didn’t do much in the afternoon.
I think today is forecast to be cloudy all day, no rain until later. I have ironing to do, and need to clean the kitchen.

Thinking of the fgts and md and her Ddil. Also thinking of others who are in pain or anxious for any reason.

nannyjan good that your Mum went to the Day Centre, hopefully she enjoyed it, even if she can’t remember it afterwards.

Have the best day possible everyone, I hope the rain in the south west isn’t too heavy today.

ginny Thu 29-Jan-26 07:46:25

Good morning from.Bucks where it is damp but still.
Yesterday morning I sorted out the Tupperware drawer and threw out some that had no lid. Where do they go? Partying with all the odd socks I suppose.
I’m out all day today, art class and sewing group. I’m very pleased with the art course and enjoying using different materials and techniques.
Wishing you all a good day with a smile along the way.

Susan56 Thu 29-Jan-26 07:47:18

Good morning from Shropshire.Thankfully no frost this morning as I have an early drs appointment. No need to scrape the windscreen😅

Yesterday was an enjoyable few hours with DGD.Earlier in the day a member of my extended family upset me, I don’t think he even realised but it led to a very unsettled night of sleep.

Today after the drs appointment I will go back to bed and hopefully get a couple of hours sleep then this afternoon I will do laundry and get everything ready for our busy day tomorrow.I have already tidied, dusted and hoovered downstairs so not too much to do house wise.

Thinking of all our mountaineers and their families and wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Susan56 Thu 29-Jan-26 07:52:08

Would it be possible for you to deliver the quilt grandMattie or for someone to collect it?So much goes missing in the postal system these days and it would be awful if the quilt disappeared.

Gingster Thu 29-Jan-26 07:56:40

Good morning .

Yesterday was busy with one thing or another and today will be the same.
Walk DGD to school, take little pooch to the groomers, go to see Dd and take her anything she needs.
Back to pick up dog and then school run this afternoon.

No time for bowls today.

DS1 is going to our seaside cottage with a friend who has a van, to bring some things back to store in his large garage.

Take care today, lots more rain forecast in some areas.

Grandmabatty Thu 29-Jan-26 07:59:01

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and dry. It's cloudy though so could go any way. NannyJan I'm glad your mum enjoyed herself. Ash I'm glad you arrived home safely. Brook a busy day ahead for you.
Yesterday was busy for me. I worked in the school library for an hour and had a chat with the Depute Head who wants me to train some senior pupils and a teacher on Friday. I had some ideas which she was happy with. Then a quick trip to Aldi for bread and curry accessories. After lunch I got housework done. Dsil arrived at 7 to pick up the tumble drying and to tell me dgs2 had an almighty meltdown at his parents house. He had fallen asleep and wouldn't eat dinner. I have a feeling he's sickening for something.
This morning I'm going to a neighbour's house for coffee and a blether. She and her husband are going away at the weekend for some weeks. I'll miss them as they are great neighbours. After that, I'll potter around the house. I was up at 3 too Bellasnana, having a cuppa, so there may be a nap later. Have a good day all
