NanKate

Really interesting grandMattie that you find hand massaging helpful with your sleep. Can you give some more information on this please ? Is there a website you use for this technique?

An acupressure site?
I was looking at my Facebook page and this came up in one of the reels.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

A very disjointed night's sleep and am ready for a cup of coffee. I've read the BBC headlines, done Wordle and now must get out of my cosy bed.

I’ve just read your post, corner, just as I was going to comment that I’ve had yet another good night, which I put down to the hand massaging.
I can’t remember having so many reasonable nights in a row - each of which I massaged my hands just before going to sleep - no problem falling asleep.
I’m glad MrC had a good birthday and an enjoyable time at the caves.

cornergran Thu 26-Feb-26 04:14:53

Our cave visit was super. Very active, more up and down flights of steps that either of us recalled and some quiet pride we managed it all. The sea front was almost empty and atmospheric, dark clouds over a headland with a band of bright sky behind. All in all an excellent day.

So, why haven’t I slept? Maybe it was the cake, of which there was much 😊.

Mr C had a thoroughly good day. He loved it all, the cards, calls from family, messages from friends and an excellent breakfast, along with the caves and sea front. He asks for little, it’s more than good to see his enjoyment and see him well enough to do it all. Without major heart surgery almost three years ago we’d be looking at life very differently. I’m very grateful for the expertise of the surgeon while wishing the promised checkups were happening . A very long clinic delay of 142 weeks at the last count.

The hand massage hasn’t worked its magic yet, I probably need to practice. Oh well, no point fretting. The most stressful thing I have to do today is meet a friend for coffee and lunch. Just one of those times. I suspect the ongoing fibro flare up is the culprit. That too passes with time.

Hope you’re all resting comfortably. I’m back to my book.

I loathe Trump's voice as well. Have to switch off or leave the room.

BlueBelle Wed 25-Feb-26 07:36:49

An ‘up and downer’ but hey ho that’s how it is. I put the radio on soft but heard Trump wittering away, so turned it back off quickly, that whiny voice drives me to drink, (if I had any in the house.)

grandMattie Wed 25-Feb-26 05:02:25

Poor you, corner. I hope your outing is successful.
Once again, a very reasonable night. I doubt the vigorousness of the massage is important, just do it as hard as you comfortably can.
Got a very busy day ahead including a lunch straight after hosting the regular cafe, so am glad that I’m pretty well rested.

cornergran Wed 25-Feb-26 03:03:24

Not quite 3 and here I am. A bit irritated with myself as it will be Mr C’s birthday and I’ve promised to do the driving when we venture forth, it helps to be awake for these things. We’re venturing to Cheddar for a look in the caves. Mr C’s cheapskate wife recalled our Longleat annual pass also covers us for Cheddar. We’ll not renew the pass when it runs out in May. Longleat is getting a bit of a trek now, so this seemed as good a time as any to use included entry.

Both sayings were a staple of my childhood, bluebelle. Said them to our children, our teenage granddaughter talks about us saying it to her on sleepovers. Since we had a close encounter with bed bugs I stop at night, night sleep tight!

I’m going to try that tai’chi massage grandmattie recommended although I fear lack of hand strength will be a hindrance. Worth a try for sure. Hope you’re all resting comfortably.

Unfortunately I think it’s going to be painful for some time jamesandjon but thanks for asking

JamesandJon33 Tue 24-Feb-26 06:30:09

Are you feeling better *BlueBelle? , My dad always said ‘Up the wooden hill ‘.
Anyway just woken up. A good night as DH was having a snore fest so went to sleep in the other room. Lovely silence .

BlueBelle Tue 24-Feb-26 05:51:49

And another one ‘up the hill to the land of nod’ when I was going upstairs to bed
It’s funny what you think about isn’t it ?

grandMattie Tue 24-Feb-26 05:33:13

Mine didn’t, BB, mostly because we only spoke French to each other, her first language! Dad spoke English to us but never did either.
I had to learn all those weird, “foreign” expressions when I came to live here some 55 years ago.
Better night again. I’m starting to believe that the t’ai chi massage of my palms is working.

BlueBelle Tue 24-Feb-26 05:04:01

Did your mum / nan used to say ‘night night, sleep tight, hope the bugs don’t bite’
That childhood memory just popped into my head

BlueBelle Tue 24-Feb-26 05:02:20

Morning all yes I ve been awake an hour or so but made myself cuddle down
Thanks for the good wishes I think it ll be a while before I m pain free muscles take ages to heal but at least I know what it is
It doesn’t feel so cold, I m so hopeful Spring is springing
Daffodils and primroses are blooming a much more hopeful time of the year
Sleep tight everyone

Georgesgran Tue 24-Feb-26 04:46:59

My phone was on charge, but I’m awake. I don’t need much sleep, so don’t go to bed until 2 or 3 and generally sleep 4/5 hours. Acid reflux has woken me, so I’m watching Close Calls on Camera, as I wait for the Gaviscon to work!

Nannytopsy Tue 24-Feb-26 04:00:40

It seems that everyone is asleep tonight! I have been awake for a while with a busy mind and not feeling very comfortable in bed. I have lots to do and keep changing my mind about what is most important.
I will shuffle my pillows and have another go.

JamesandJon33 Mon 23-Feb-26 09:11:01

Hope you feel better soon BlueBelle

cornergran Mon 23-Feb-26 05:38:23

I’m sorry you’re in pain. bluebelle. Definitely best to see a doctor. Hope you drifted off again.

Woke just after 4, sleep is limited at the moment. I feel OK. It’s just when I come face to face with a mirror I see how exhausted I look. Best avoid mirrors then smile.

BlueBelle Mon 23-Feb-26 02:56:59

I went to bed early tonight as I was feeling quite unwell. Had a bad pain in my her back for a week now, so going to try and see the doctor in the morning anyway because I went to bed early. I’m now awake at 2:45.
Hope that I will manage to drift off again in a minute
Hope everybody else is okay

grandMattie Sun 22-Feb-26 06:28:53

j&j, sleep seems to have no rhyme or reason to me either.
I too have had a (third) reasonable night.
I’m wondering if it has something to do with this t’ai chi massaging of the palm and middle finger which I have been doing for the last 3 nights. You are supposed to do 30 per hand. To date, I’ve only done 10, but my sleep has improved. And it for sleeping, not falling asleep!

JamesandJon33 Sun 22-Feb-26 05:57:47

Well I can’t get my head around this. I did nothing much yesterday. Read a book , did a little writing , had a nap and watched a bit of tv .I went to sleep around nine and straight through to 5:47 . Why?

Moth62 Sat 21-Feb-26 07:17:56

Unusually for me, I went to bed before 10:00 pm last night after a very busy week and slept well until 5:00 am without my bladder waking me, so I must have been deeply asleep! (And I had already had an hour’s nap after lunch as well.)

Georgesgran Sat 21-Feb-26 07:03:52

Been in bed since 2am, but just short naps - quite annoying. I usually sleep a solid 5 hours (never daytime naps) unless there’s a toilet break Now I’m properly awake I can hear one of the smoke alarms chirping - that must’ve been disturbing me.

I've cut down on my food I'm over -
weight from night time snacking which I think makes my knee ache .
During the day I'm trying to be more active taking walks .

I was super active ,fitter and slimmer before and I slept from about 10.00 pm until 7.00 am with a few exceptions .

Now I think that I've become nocturnal.

After my walk yesterday I fell asleep before lunch and slept all afternoon as it became cold and uneaten .
I had it late afternoon and then was sleepy all evening waking up at three .
I think that it's easy to get into unfortunate sleep regimes .
