Don’t have more than about 30 minutes nap, allsorts. It completely messes up the night. All the best…

grandMattie Sat 21-Feb-26 05:22:01

Bluebelle, my problem is staying asleep. Falling asleep is very easy!

Allsorts Sat 21-Feb-26 05:03:34

Just three hours sleep tonight. I am going to put some nice music on this afternoon and try to get an hours sleep, never tried it before. Always too tired to go out in the evening.

grandMattie Sat 21-Feb-26 04:58:00

Morning. I’ve had my regular 5hours so can’t complain.
I have been trying very hard not to have a postprandial nap, but sometimes “lose”. On the other hand, I drift off around 8ish missing the good bits on tv!
I don’t find much difference in sleep between avery busy day and an empty day. The only difference is if I hav3 to go out in the evening, I’m very wired and take some time to settle.
Old age isn’t for sissies!

Gymstagran Sat 21-Feb-26 03:33:52

Its 3.30 am and ive been awake since 3. I thought I'd cracked it by going to bed later but the last two nights haven't worked. An easy day today and hopefully i will get back to sleep around 5.

JamesandJon33 Sat 21-Feb-26 03:33:37

Morning. Awake at one and no my mind didn’t settle BlueBelle
I am a writer so I am constantly working out plots etc, and as I now do ‘talks’, I am writing those in my head also.
Hope everyone gets adequate sleep. I dropped off yesterday in the sittingroom just after 10 in the morning and then again for an hour after lunch.

BlueBelle Fri 20-Feb-26 06:47:41

Think it’s because you’re concentrating on something and the mind stills to do it Grandmatte, that’s my theory anyway

I hope your mind settled JanesandJon

I ve done something to a shoulder blade area pulled a muscle ir something so now I m awake as it’s a bit ouchy to say the least
Have a good day everyone

I had a milky turmeric drink far too late in the evening and woke up wanting the loo .
There was a nice repeat of the Botticelli programme and yawned my way through Modern Life is Goodish.
If I drift off again then great if not never mind .
I'd had a very happy day socialising so I wasn't stressed .

grandMattie Fri 20-Feb-26 05:14:57

I had a better than average night for the second time.
In both cases, I did a t’ai chi thingy, very easy. It may have helped.
With thumb in the middle of the palm, rub up/run thumb to the tip of the middle finger, quite hard. Repeat several times, and then with the other hand.
Might have been coincidence, might have worked.
Give it a try.

JamesandJon33 Fri 20-Feb-26 04:34:24

Went to bed very early as I had had a super busy day. Woke up about 2. I have so much on my mind I can’t settle. I think I shan ‘t even try now.
Have a good day everyone.

Georgesgran Fri 20-Feb-26 04:16:45

Came to bed at 3. It’s very cold outside. I’m just not tired.
Watching LIOLI which is around Whitley Bay/Tynemouth/Cullercoats. It’s a repeat and house prices have rocketed since that episode was filmed.

Greyduster Fri 20-Feb-26 04:08:29

I am joining you folks this morning - awake since twenty past two. Not unusual but I can normally get back to sleep. I had a long disappointing day yesterday; came home very tired and couldn’t face eating anything so I didn’t. I think I couldn’t get back to sleep in the early hours because I was hungry, so I’ve made a cup of Ovaltine - no biscuits though😇 - and put on some soothing piano music.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 20-Feb-26 03:55:06

Wide awake now. Did Wordle quickly in 4.....lucky 2nd word. Have read the BBC headlines.
I starting watching The Six Wives with Lucy Worsley last night on iplayer and that will be my bedtime viewing for a few days. She is so full of energy.
I will read now. It's a library book and due back soon.
I hope I am the only one awake, but that's unlikely. Hello fellow sufferers.

Grandmabatty Fri 20-Feb-26 02:54:13

I can't decide whether to get up for a cuppa or not. I'm listening to an Agatha Christie novel on Audible because I'm awake

Moth62 Thu 19-Feb-26 07:10:44

I dropped off eventually. My DH woke me up from that lovely bit where you’re just falling asleep by banging the living room door below our bedroom. Then as I was just drifting off again, his phone made the “you’ve got a WhatsApp” noise that it goes. Awake again whilst he fiddled with the message on his phone in the full glare of the screen light. 😡 Then my left leg starts twitching when I’m overtired… hmm So now up again after a few hours, as we have builders coming. Ho hum. Love this thread. Makes me feel that I am not alone in my erratic sleep patterns. smile

grandMattie Thu 19-Feb-26 07:02:29

So sorry, pant. I’m the opposite, I had a better night last night.
I was very tired, but refused to”wake up” each time my eyes opened. This time it worked an I got a reasonable 7 hours, despite the napping form it took…
Hope everyone else has had an ok night.

Doodledog Thu 19-Feb-26 06:13:37

I keep forgetting about this thread, and I try not to pick up my phone when I wake up, as when I start faffing about with it there is no chance of getting back to sleep. Another short night😢.

Grammaretto Thu 19-Feb-26 05:07:53

I've been awake since 4. I was in bed before 11 so probably had enough sleep. A long day ahead .... Done my games but I could do some Duolingo.....

Georgesgran Thu 19-Feb-26 04:46:42

A bit cross that I’ve needed a toilet break, after only a couple of hours in bed, but I’ll probably drop off again for another couple no bother.

BlueBelle Thu 19-Feb-26 04:27:22

Pantglas you re not the only one I think there’s probably a fe2 of us around 🤣had my 5 hours so now doing sone games on my iPad

Pantglas2 Thu 19-Feb-26 04:24:31

👋 am I the only one here? Typical! I have one bad night every month and it seems to happen mid month too - I wonder if it’s the lunar cycle?

Glad you’re all 😴 - I’ll hold the fort…🫡

Doodledog Wed 18-Feb-26 07:36:04

I scraped five hours. I thought I would sleep well, as I had a stressful day yesterday and a lot of round in the evening, but I took a while to nod off then woke at 5.45 and couldn’t get back. Annoying, but could be worse I suppose.

Georgesgran Wed 18-Feb-26 07:19:22

Four and a half hours solid - happy with that. I take a cup of tea and a biscuit and have them in bed, before I settle down.

Onwards and upwards now.

BlueBelle Wed 18-Feb-26 05:32:30

Gymsragran that’s exactly how it works for me I find if I go to bed between 11 and 12 I go through to 5 ish and miss that awful 3 am wake up.
I think the more you do like eating or drinking in the night the more awake you get and your body then expects food or a snack at that time, so begins to wake for it.
Have a good day everyone

Gymstagran Wed 18-Feb-26 05:21:08

Awake at 5 , I'm going to sleep later at night and I'm getting 5 hours sleep. Much better for me
