I’m off to bed now and it’s snowing 😡 here, just outside Durham.

JamesandJon33 Sat 14-Feb-26 16:55:03

LLFL my DD has the same. Such a bad cough. Her GP has prescribed anti biotics.
Hope you feel better soon.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 14-Feb-26 08:05:57

Workn up now, but a very disjointed night and much reading. Oh well I have had a run of good nights.
Bright sunshine reflecting off the windows opposite my bedroom. Our kitchen is full of sun. What a treat. Feels a lot colder when I opened the back door. A layers day and sunglasses.

grandMattie Sat 14-Feb-26 05:29:33

Having decided I wanted a good night, I took my occasional “sleeping pill” - half an antihistamine. Guarantees a lot of sleep and I rarely feel fuzzy afterwards.
I remember some dreams, or some detail (like this morning), or just an impression; usually because I can’t understand how these bizarre details fit in with my life.
Be careful to check the ingredients of cough medicines, llfl, as they may have too many painkillers.
Have a good day.

BlueBelle Sat 14-Feb-26 05:21:52

Morning everyone I ve had a good night think I ve woken at some point because my radios off but I have no memory of it

LLFL sorry to say you sound like you have caught a big old bug Can someone get you stocked up with some paracetamol and cough meds , don’t go out in the freezing weather, cuddle down for a day or two

cornergran Sat 14-Feb-26 03:31:27

Not been in for a while as I’ve had decent sleeps. We’re off on a coach at 7am this morning, just a day trip. Alarm set for 5.15, so here I am wide awake at just gone 3. It will be the fear of not waking in time I’m sure. Hope you can get some more sleep ladylfl, you do sound poorly. I smiled at your dream roses, I rarely remember detail of mine, just left with a sense of them. It doesn’t feel too cold in here. I’m hoping the promised frost has avoided us as we’d be de-icing the car before setting off to the car park where we meet the coach. Have a good day everyone. Fingers crossed for some bright weather.

Hello! I am lying in bed with a dreadful cough which bubbles. I am also hot. My lower legs are sometimes itchy too. OH is the asthmatic one and always has a cough. This is unusual for me although I know there is a bug going round.

JamesandJon33 Sat 14-Feb-26 03:01:14

Morning…. 3 minutes early. 5 hours for me too. Quiet day today. So a nap later I expect. Have a good day everyone. It’s going to be colder, they say.

RosesandLilac Sat 14-Feb-26 02:27:38

‘Morning! Wide awake after 5 hours sleep, I think it’s because the temperature has dropped considerably and I’d left my bedroom window open a little. The house isn’t cold, 17° according to the thermostat on the landing, no heating on overnight.
We’re supposed to have sleet overnight but is just damp out so far.
I had a weird dream last night about staying in Windsor castle and being worried about being safe! Utterly ridiculous and very odd because it seemed to be made of LEGO 😁
I have a 5 hour zoom art session today, I need to walk tiddler early then get everything ready. I’m looking forward to it.
I agree BlueBelle, accepting that we all have less sleep sometimes does make it less frustrating. It bothers me far less now I’m retired.

NanKate Fri 13-Feb-26 08:08:27

Two reasonable nights on the trot - a miracle 👍

BlueBelle Fri 13-Feb-26 06:55:57

Helterskelter it’s always good to know someone has relaxed about something after talking to friends, I realise it’s very normal to have broken nights as we get older: and it’s not the end of the world is it ? Once acceptance sets in, worry stops and much more likely to sleep or even just relax.
Have a good day everyone

JamesandJon33 Fri 13-Feb-26 06:49:21

Not too bad a night. Woke briefly at 3 then went back to sleep. Woke at just after six. But I fell asleep yesterday afternoon for a very unexpected 2 hours .

Greenfinch Fri 13-Feb-26 04:58:50

I have been awake for an hour having slept for four. I have done Wordle and am now re-reading Jude the Obscure ( not the most cheerful bedtime reading) having taken codeine for leg pain. Sorry about your disturbing dreams grandMattie. Their effect can last for a while I find.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 13-Feb-26 04:54:57

Wideawake now and I will read. I watched Small Prophets on iplayer till 10.00 last night and will watch the next episode tonight. Not sure if it will grip me, but it was gentle.
Intermittent sunshine yesterday and it seemed lighter till later with a very pretty pink sunset. Halfway through February.
I have had 6.5 hours sleep which is good enough. This thread has stopped me worrying about sleep and I think I have slept more although still disjointed since it started.

Grandmabatty Fri 13-Feb-26 04:53:39

I've had a poor night too. It's been cold here though.

grandMattie Fri 13-Feb-26 04:41:35

Here I am again. The 5ish night as usual. It was filled with disturbing dreams as well as being too hot at one stage earlier in the night. Ah well!

Doodledog Thu 12-Feb-26 07:52:47

I managed 6 hours last night. I could do with more, but that’s way above average just now. I had a busy day yesterday (physically tiring) which probably explains it. I do need more exercise generally, but health issues make that difficult.

JamesandJon33 Thu 12-Feb-26 05:50:15

That’s better. 10 to 5:30 with just a small half hour break at 12. Lots of vivid dreams though, which have faded away now. Have a good day everyone. You never know it might not rain .

Charleygirl5 Thu 12-Feb-26 05:08:43

I have problems with both lower legs and both are so itchy it drives me crazy. I applied Eurax to no avail so I was up for over an hour from 12,30 am Up again at 3.30 am which is unheard of twice in one night.

Normally if there were fire engines outside I wouldn't hear anything but a cat whimpering and I would be wide awake.

Esmay Thu 12-Feb-26 05:07:09

I decided that I wouldn't have my usual tea and drinks in the evening.
I sipped water instead .
I think that I drifted off around eight and woke up having a nightmare at four .

grandMattie Thu 12-Feb-26 05:06:35

Glad that you have managed such a good night.
I usually go to bed around 9, but read and “gather wool” until 10ish.
I had 6 hours last night. I didn’t have a nap as I was going to my book group and didn’t want to be late. Even the men enjoyed the book, which had been my choice. I was really pleased.

HelterSkelter1 Thu 12-Feb-26 04:43:10

Asleep by 9 I think and awake at 4.00. Again 7 hours. What is different?
Early evening meal at 5.30. Then a banana and a glass of oat milk at 7.00. It doesn't sound like a fun life but I have many worries so to sleep from 9 till 4 is so helpful.

I hope others on this thread are still asleep.

BlueBelle Wed 11-Feb-26 06:55:06

Slept through most of the evening !!! Then went to bed at midnight and went through till 4 had a wee and back till nearly 6 so had more than my 5 hours plus my downstairs napping time that ll do me off to work at 8 so all good

HelterSkelter1 Wed 11-Feb-26 05:51:52

Yes GM now I look at the hours I have written down I have had 3 nights with a 1st sleep of almost 6 hours. Asleep by 9 and then awake at 3.
No idea why, but I have had my evening meal early at 5 for those 3 nights. And the days have been a little busier than normal.
I shall see how the rest of the week goes. Fingers crossed it will continue.

grandMattie Wed 11-Feb-26 05:33:12

Wow, helter, some night!
I had my regular 5ish hours, but no weird dreams remembered.
My regular hosting of the AgeUK FAB cafe this morning in my church. It's a bit restricting as only two of us are church hosts, and the other lady is rather sociable and very scatty.
