See you all in the earlies

Good morning from a very warm north of Scotland.
I seldom post but do read every day and send my best wishes to everyone whether unwell, troubled or dealing with life’s problems.
Today I am off to have some keys cut, put all the duvets out to air and launder my spring/summer clothes. The latter were put away freshly washed but I always feel they need redone after hibernating in the spare room.
We have a lovely new coffee shop in the village. So I will deserve a treat there after lunch.
My DH is out for the day so I will not have to repeat myself. He is apparently not deaf AT ALL in spite of having had hearing aids for several years, which he refuses to wear or have reset. Why, why, why will people wear glasses (esp DH) but not hearing aids. There I feel better now😤.
Off to sow some seeds but they will have to be kept inside as we are prone to late frosts.
Thank you Mick for this daily thread.

I hope you find a car you are happy with and you hear from the hospital soon.

Have a good day 💐.

RosesandLilac Thu 30-Apr-26 02:16:15

‘Morning!
I do hope I’m the only one wide awake at this silly hour 😁
I did sleep for a few hours 🤷🏼‍♀️
I tried an automatic car yesterday, the model was rather too basic for me so will try a Micra next.
The salesman took me out in a top of the range electric Nissan, oh my goodness! It was lovely but so strange and far from what I would be comfortable with! You could literally speak to it at it would answer/respond eg change the temperature, tell you a joke 😵‍💫😬🫣
My DGSs would have had a field day with it.
So, still looking, still waiting and still no further action from the hospital.

Aren't there some greedy people! Charge again for another coffee and cake. Use a clean cup and plate. No top ups said with a smile. £2.00 is wonderful anyway. I would pay 2.00 just for homemade cake.

TheSunRisesInTheEast Wed 29-Apr-26 09:32:26

Yes, grandMattie, when I have a weird or upsetting dream, I am able to tell myself in the dream that it's just a dream, I wondered if other people could do that 🤔.

You're doing a great job with your AgeUK cafe, a brilliant community service, there will always be people who take advantage and are greedy, that's a shame. Maybe when they pay their £2 you could give them two tickets (raffle tickets?) to hand over, one for a coffee and one for a cake.

Have a good day ☀️.

R&L, If the government policy is to see and start treating cancer (whether palliative or not) within six weeks, I’d write to my MP and/or W Streeting, regarding the way you are being ignored. My heart goes out to you.

Had one of my nights full of peculiar dreams. What intrigues me is the way I know they are odd during the dream. Do you have them?

A longish day coming up - my Wednesdays are spent hosting AgeUK’s FAB cafes with some “guests” really taking the p..s. We charge a “voluntary” £2 for really nice coffee and home baking; they want top-ups, three cups, take cake home (in one case, for her dog!) etc., but rarely pay extra. Grrr.😡

Hope you have a good day, but more importantly, a better night!

Doodledog Tue 28-Apr-26 14:56:53

I hope you get good news soon, RosesandLilac. It's bad enough being awake half the night, but worse when you are lying there worrying. flowers

TheSunRisesInTheEast Tue 28-Apr-26 03:47:02

No wonder you can't sleep, RosesandLilac, you have your health on your mind. It's frustrating that there's so much waiting to get anything done.

It's a shame you felt you had to cancel your painting holiday, that would have done you good and been a distraction from your health worries. Hopefully, you can book another break once your appointments have been sorted out.

I've been awake for a couple of hours, it's nice to have Gransnet to come on to, even though there isn't much going on. I've done a crossword and I'm listening to the radio, it's a chat station and they're talking about football so I'm ready to bed down and go back to sleep now. I hope you can get some more sleep in before having to get up. Try not to worry, I know that's easier said than done. Take care 🤗💐.

I don’t normally post on this forum, but I do enjoy reading the good morning thread and didn't want to leave your post unanswered. I’m really sorry you’re being left in this horrible position with no clear answers, and still more waiting.

Your frustration is completely understandable and cancelling your painting holiday must have been such a hard decision.

I hope the Meeting next week brings some clarity and things start to move for you.

Badgergran Tue 28-Apr-26 03:32:20

So sorry you are going through this RosesandLilac flowers

RosesandLilac Tue 28-Apr-26 02:59:36

I know I’m catastrophising, I can’t help it.

RosesandLilac Tue 28-Apr-26 02:58:46

I’m glad it’s quiet on here, I slept for 4 hours, now wide awake. I actually had a phone call from the hospital; 9 weeks in all I learned was that my PET CT scan will be discussed at NEXT week’s MDT, 3 weeks after I had it.
I am on the verge of giving up trying to get anywhere, it will then be a further 2-3 weeks if they decide they need biopsies then a further wait to see an oncologist 🤷🏼‍♀️ then another wait for any treatment. I’m getting convinced that they are going to say no treatment as already been told inoperable and incurable, hence the lack of any action.
Sorry for the moaning, I’ve very nearly had enough.
I’ve cancelled my painting holiday, the final payment was due yesterday but not knowing what the hell is happening means I can’t plan anything for the foreseeable future.

Doodledog Mon 27-Apr-26 06:34:08

I got through until 5.00am today (from 12.15), which isn’t too bad by current standards. I’ll be tired though, as my body needs more sleep. I’m wide awake now, having tried to get back to sleep since then, with no joy.

rafichagran Mon 27-Apr-26 05:47:40

Slept badly last night myself. I am not tied to time today. I have a couple if things I must do but they can wait until I feel less tired.

grandMattie Mon 27-Apr-26 05:45:09

I’m sorry you’ve been sleeping badly.
I’ve had a run of short nights again, but too busy to nap after lunch. Last night, I gave in an took a “sleeping pill” (1/2 an antihistamine) so got a restful night.
The other thing was that I changed my duvet to a summer weight, + my bedspread for that little extra warmth.
I hope you all get a better night later. 👋

Celieanne86 Mon 27-Apr-26 04:45:10

I’m so frustrated as I’ve awake again after just 3 hours sleep. A noise possibly a car going past has woken me up and that’s it, I won’t get back to sleep if only for a couple of hours and it’s going to be a long long day again 😰

Gymstagran Mon 27-Apr-26 04:26:12

Ive been awake for an hour, had a cofee and finished reading an interesting book, a novel about a scotsman marrying an eskimo woman. Will try to sleep again in a little while as i need to be out early.

JamesandJon33 Mon 27-Apr-26 04:24:47

I ‘ve been awake for a couple of hours too. Read for a while , but will try to sleep again in a minute. Busy day tomorrow, with no chance of a catch up nap.

Macaydia Mon 27-Apr-26 04:20:01

I can never fall asleep. I have been prescribed every sleep medicine and nothing works. Worry might be causing it. 🙁

Grammaretto Mon 27-Apr-26 04:02:15

Been awake for a couple of hours.
I hope others are sleeping better?

Nannytopsy Mon 27-Apr-26 03:19:47

I came to bed about an hour earlier than usual, so I am awake at 3 instead of 4. 😳
DGC are here, so an early start for the school run.

RosesandLilac Sat 25-Apr-26 04:46:32

‘Morning 🙄
Wide awake. Again.
Still have a headache too…..
Wasn’t yesterday gloriously sunny? My lovely gardener came and has titivated my plants, generally tidied up and I am so grateful for all his hard work. It looks lovely.
I did start cleaning the inside of the windows, more today. I got too breathless so had to stop.
I hope you’re all well x

Grammaretto Sat 25-Apr-26 04:04:05

I've been wide awake since 2.30am. I went to an art exhibition yesterday evening and bought a painting!. Then we decided to drive to the beach and have fish and chips.
Unfortunately the haar had come in so it was cold and foggy. We sat in the car to eat.

JamesandJon33 Sat 25-Apr-26 02:32:48

Wide awake also.

RosesandLilac Fri 24-Apr-26 02:33:21

Wide awake here 🙄
It’s very dark outside, very quiet and somewhat chilly at 3° and I have a headache. I will take some Anadin and hopefully get back to sleep after a hot drink.
My friend has messaged to ask if I’d like a trip to Dyrham next week to see the tulips, of course I yes, that would be wonderful! Something nice to look forward to!
I hope you’re all snuggly asleep x
