A restless night punctuated by nightmares and I've woken up with a stiff neck .
I often watch TV at night -any distraction !

Georgesgran Thu 23-Apr-26 03:59:27

Looks like it’s ’one of those nights’.
About once every 2/3 weeks I don’t sleep at all. Wide awake, watching music from the 60’s, but I’m quite happy.
Usual for me.

Georgesgran Thu 23-Apr-26 02:32:32

I’m in bed, having watched an old episode of The Saint (hammy acting) before I settle down. Someone has just paid 7shillings for a double brandy. I suspect a single would be nearer £7 these days?

Hoping my usual 4 hours sleep isn’t disturbed by needing the loo! Goodnight all.

Moth62 Tue 21-Apr-26 08:48:55

I got up in the middle of the night for the bathroom and tossed and turned for a while. But then I remembered your massaging advice, grandMattie, and it worked!! So, thank you for that. smile

grandMattie Tue 21-Apr-26 05:48:09

What a dream r&l! Imagine…
I have been having longer nights, but waking up quite a lot, 4-5 times per night. I sometimes remember m6 peculiar dreams, all as odd as your r&l.
I hope everyone has a good day/night.

Doodledog Tue 21-Apr-26 05:04:58

Try not to worry, RosesandLilac. The lack of urgency might be a good sign. I understand that it must be hard not to though.

I am wide awake and I have a busy week ahead so really need to sleep. Isn’t it always the way?

JamesandJon33 Tue 21-Apr-26 04:00:25

I’ve been awake over an hour. Played Patience on my kindle and read for a while. I have a ‘ book talk’ today and that is swirling around in my head. I shall try to sleep again now, or I shall be fit for nothing in the morning .

RosesandLilac Tue 21-Apr-26 02:35:21

A bit earlier than my usual wake-up, all’s very quiet in the house except my whirring brain 🙄
I dreamt I was at a dinner party with Trump, that’s the stuff of nightmares, isn’t it?! He was serving MacDonalds burgers topped with ice cream 🤢, then I woke up thankfully 😁
I’m desperately trying to chase up my treatment plan at the hospital, 8 weeks in and I still haven’t seen an oncologist and I’m beginning to despair and doubt that my outlook is in any way good…..
Today my lovely friend is coming for coffee, she’ll cheer me up and we’ll enjoy the sunshine I hope x

I have also had a very restless night waking lots and dreaming I was on a river cruise with the family and kept losing them on the boat and then for some reason I had my cat with me and kept losing her. It was all very bizarre. I have had wild dreams after drinking Prosecco before!

Quietlife Mon 20-Apr-26 06:46:14

Yes I’ve found the latest one now. I’m still awake at 6.45 but nothing to get up for this morning.

HelterSkelter1 Mon 20-Apr-26 06:25:36

Reading and a cup of tea now. Quite a disturbed night. I had several really vivid dreams which I can still recall. Normally my dreams just disappear as I wake up. I read for a while in the night, but did that trickmof falling asleep with my glasses on and the book falling on the floor and losing my page. I am reading Transcription which is currently a series on radio 4 on Sunday afternoon. The book is very good.. a touch of Le Carre. Not sure about the series despite Toby Jones but to be fair I fell asleeep while listening. Thats the drawback of a warm chair at 3.00 pm after cutting the grass.

JamesandJon33 Mon 20-Apr-26 06:14:43

Another straight through. I really don’t understand why. The night before was very interrupted. Just one of those inexplicable things.
Take care everyone and enjoy the good weather they say we are going to have.

BlueBelle Mon 20-Apr-26 06:08:40

quietlife no idea why you think no one is posting on this thread People are posting every day/ night ????

It was started in January but it’s been used each night since

Aldom Mon 20-Apr-26 04:24:29

Hello Quietlife sorry you're finding sleep elusive too. Ive been awake for about 45 minutes. No idea why I can't sleep. I've had a cup of Red bush and I'll read for a while downstairs, where I am now.
I've put the electric blanket on so my bed will be welcoming when I return to it.... hopefully for a couple of hours more sleep.
Nite nite anyone who is reading, especially if you are feeling troubled. flowers

Quietlife Mon 20-Apr-26 04:05:01

I see no one has posted on this since January. Is anyone out there at the moment? I’m wide awake at 4 am. I made the mistake of taking an Anadin extra earlier which has caffeine in it. I have been quite sensitive to caffeine for the last couple of years and only drink decaf tea and coffee so should have known better. But my sleep is hit and miss at the best of times. I’m debating whether to get up and potter around for a bit.

Georgesgran Mon 20-Apr-26 02:31:35

Just off to bed now - a touch of reflux, so hope I can sleep through it. X

Doodledog Sun 19-Apr-26 05:09:40

I’ve been awake for hours and I’m very tired. I’ve tried lying there thinking of nothing, running a story in my head, playing rain sounds, but nothing works. My watch tells me I had less than three hours sleep.

HelterSkelter1 Sun 19-Apr-26 04:33:39

Wideawake at 4, but probably had about 6 to 7 hours sleep. Will read now for a while.
I recently started on Atorvastatin and think I am going to have to stop and change to another or a lower dose. Various side effects but the worst is the "pick axe " headache which I have never had before and have had for the last few days. In fact I very rarely get a headache. Something else to keep me awake!
I hope everyone else is fast asleep.

cornergran Sat 18-Apr-26 04:41:30

Been awake since 2am. Not even grandmatties acupressure technique has helped. Head like a washing machine stuck on fast spin. We’ve a day away today which will be an enjoyable distraction. Hope everyone else is sleeping contentedly.

Moth62 Fri 17-Apr-26 09:47:30

Thank you! I’ve taken a screenshot of your advice, in case I can’t find it again next time! smile

grandMattie Fri 17-Apr-26 07:32:05

Moth62 Acupressure - massage your middle finger from wrist to nail, both sides, thumb one side fingers the other. You’re supposed to do it 30 times per hand, I usually do about 10….

Moth62 Fri 17-Apr-26 06:40:59

I was lying awake for ages a couple of nights ago and looked for this thread to post on, but couldn’t find it! I remember, Grand Mattie, you told me to look in threads I’ve posted in, but it must have been a while ago since I last posted, so it wasn’t there either. I gave up in the end! I haven’t been sleeping too badly recently, but I did that annoying thing I do when I have lots going on in my head of waking up after a solid 90 minutes of sleep and then tossing and turning for hours. Could I just also add my very best wishes to you, RosesandLilac. I, too, have been where you are now and know how awful the waiting is. thanks

Esmay Fri 17-Apr-26 06:30:47

Over the last two days I've done more physical work than normal (these days) and I've slept better .
Maybe gardening is therapeutic .

HelterSkelter1 Fri 17-Apr-26 05:57:16

Awake now properly. I did wake at 1.00 but luckily went back to sleep. I was very tired yesterday after a busy 4 days in a row which was unusual for me. My busy days are usually more spread out.
I can smell bluebell woods from my childhood in SE Kent. Cycling home with bluebells in my bicycle basket...we knew no better in those days. They sadly didn't last long in a vase. The spanish ones proliferate in my garden here in N Surrey and I love the touch of blue amongst all the new ßpring time green.
RosesandLilac I hope you get your scan results soon. The waiting does take over your mind and once you are awake that's it for the night. Be kind to yourself.

grandMattie Fri 17-Apr-26 05:18:05

I feel awful for you R&L; I wish there was something I could do to help other than pray/think of you and send you virtual hugs each time.
Bellas, noise is horrible; I suggest you get ”adopted” by your friends during the day 😆. I thought migratory birds stopped in Malta, so you’d have loads in the season changes.
I love spring and for years hoped my birthday (two days ago) included two of my favourite things - English bluebells and asparagus! The bluebells in Bristol all seem to be the Spanish sort, unlike the several woods near us in Kent which were emphatically English! The worst year was during the first lockdown where I had/saw neither….
Hugs to you both 🤗
