I am on the NHS waiting list for a heart procedure and had been told it would not be until the autumn at least.

Because the problems are so life-limiting I made the decision to attack my savings and to go privately and had been given a date for 19th February. I was sitting at my computer filling in their medical history form and had just pressed send when the phone rang from the NHS hospital offering me 27th February!!

I feel a bit discombobulated!! I nearly fell off my chair!

Private hospital were happy to cancel with no problems - phew!

As sue says just stay away from people and children too as winter bugs all about us.🌹

That's fantastic news! All the very best

I’m pleased for you but slightly saddened and infuriated that timely heart procedures are a lottery rather than the right we have all paid for. Please all think about this when voting and ask questions about priorities. Remember defence spend is going up. It’s not about tight budgets. We all need our bodies- working. Priority number 1

There's no rhyme or reason to anything these days, but I wish you all the very best for your procedure and many happy healthy years ahead.

My 19 year old grandson has been suffering from what was believed to be reactive arthritis, after an attack of Covid back in November. He was given painkillers and anti inflammatories, but couldn't get an appointment with a rheumatologist until March. Suddenly, two weeks ago, he was told there was now an appointment for him. He saw the rheumatologist, had an array of bloods taken, and was told that it is reactive arthritis, which may recur or may never happen again. At least he's been saved another three months of worrying.

Congratulations! Hope it all goes well.

Use an N95 mask in all public places - Covid and flu still around and you don't want to struck down

Thank you for the good wishes. I think I need to try and strike a balance between hiding away for fear of bugs and maintaining some normal life. Fingers crossed!

Not intending to put a damper on, but have just seen this very post on my Facebook page.

Nothing wrong with Luckygirls’s post, but just a reminder that anything on GN can be read and uploaded onto different sites.

I saw it earlier this morning, have trawled through again, but as is often the case, cannot find the article.

It came up under the heading ‘GN’. It didn’t give your name, but I recognised the wording straightaway.

It wasn’t anything sinister, it was more a case of ‘hey, how good is this?’

Wish I had saved it now.

It was just a reminder that anything we write on here is in the public domain, not just GN.

Gransnet does have a Facebook page and Luckygirl's post appears on there.

Perhaps some posters aren't aware of the FB page?

Having suffered (and still do) for some years with neck pain and back pain /sciatica i was referred for an MRI and was told the waiting time was two years. I paid for a private MRI and got an appointment two weeks later.
The day after my private scan I received a letter from the NHS with a date for an NHS scan 3 weeks later.
If only....... If only ..... they had telephoned me Id have had time to cancel my private scan which I could ill afford.
