How good to see the new woman archbishop. She is a breath of fresh air, and has much useful knowledge in her background. At least we have much more likelihood of child abuse not being ignored, so wishing her a long and calming influence on the many parts of the church of england.

Another weak woke A of C who backs Lammy's £billions of reparations to God knows who (literally) which would probably bankrupt England. GREAT !!

Oh, I do, in a world still full of misogyny, especially when they have a record on the tackling abuse front and have specifically spoken up on misogyny, of which I have had my fill more recently in my life including in a religious setting.

Unless there are good reasons for not supporting that particular women, as a feminist, yes, I will cheer her on heart and soul.

Did you feel that way about Paula Vennels? Awful person.

I was talking to DH, who is involved with the church, about this today. He remembered about 20 years ago being asked for advice on the appointment of a new Bishop of Chelmsford. When he suggested a woman, the answer was, "Maybe one day, but not just yet." Things have evolved very quickly, and a female A of C may well encourage more and more women appointments.
Actually Chelmsford does now have a female Bishop, since 2021 I believe!
