Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

A quiet day, I think, although there is still an ironing pile with my name on. Six dresses and a cardigan.

OH thinks I should contact the surgery about my toe. Mmm. It is absolutely fine with just slippers but as soon as I put socks or tights on and a pair of boots it is uncomfortable. I have been taking photos of it and have created a ‘toe’ album on my iPhone!

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all and it’s bright but chilly here in Essex.

DS has been to collect our car to be valeted. The whirlwind will be back soon to take his Dw shopping. They’ll come back for coffee later.

DGD is still abed and we’ll visit her mum this afternoon. She’s still very poorly.

We made biscuits and cupcakes yesterday afternoon and played a few word games, so she’s quite happy to be staying with us.

Not much sleep for me last night as so much on my mind, one way or another. I wish we could just switch off and sleep. 🙏.

Take care all and have a ‘good’ day. . 🌱

Good morning from a blue skied sunny Suffolk,so welcome after the greyness of the last few days.

I had a rush yesterday to the dispensary in the surgery to collect an item left off DH’s prescription. Neither of us now like driving in the dark although years ago,we thought nothing about it. I hadn’t realised how many potholes, and some of them quite deep, there were at the edge of the road which I couldn’t see in the dark. It is the same road I travel on twice a week to my exercise classes.

A peaceful day here with the cleaners here for a longer than usual session and then a Waitrose delivery this afternoon.

I hope all find some quiet contentment today.

Good morning everyone from a clear dry Northampton. Listening to Tony Blackburn Sounds of the Sixties on Alexa catch-up as I am not getting up at 6am to listen to it live!

A nice fine day yesterday; dance classes in the morning then coffee at the bakery and a bus home mid afternoon. Read the newspaper, did the puzzle pages and not much else.

Out to rugby this afternoon where I will meet DD.and.her DH,.who will probably give me a lift home afterwards.

Good morning all from the Black country where the sun is making an appearance.
DH needs to pick up his new glasses so that will be todays trip out.
Usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Hope those under par are feeling a little better.
Have the best day you can whatever your plans ☀️.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's dull and grey.
The snow drops are up but I don't think I will pick them yet. I have some other things to fill my tiny vases today.

I shall deliver the bowls I made for a friend's commission and the cake for the café.
Then I will photograph more books to send to a book dealer who's interested in taking some.
I feel I owe it to my late DH to find the right home for his extensive library.

That cold accomodation sounds rather disappointing Ash.

I can't imagine planting bare roots so early in the year. Karma as the climate is more Siberian than Mediterranean hereabouts.

I do want to find something to prevent the deer eating the roses at my door.
Someone suggested a lanolin spray. Have you heard of that?

Hoping everyone has a pleasant day and keeps safe and cosy.

A fine morning, which augurs well for attendance at the parish jumble sale and should mean a nicely busy morning. We left it all set up last night but I just know someone will turn up with a load of stuff this morning but one person’s jumble is someone else’s treasure and I am all for recycling as much as we can. By the time I am home I shall just want to flop. Hope for a good enough day for all our posters.

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday was a mixed day.Mum was awake and happy to see us.She looks like a tiny skeleton, after about ten minutes she was exhausted but we stayed chatting to staff for a while.Next dads grave where we cleaned the stone and put the new flowers down.Out for lunch then mum’s house. We met the buyers who amazingly want some of the furniture which is a blessing to us.All going well so far!We stopped at Tesco and I said to DH where is your phone? He had left it charging at mum’s 40 miles away🤦🏼‍♀️round we turned and half way back were delayed by a traffic incident. We finally got home at 10pm five hours after we had first set off for home🤦🏼‍♀️😴

Today we will unpack the car as we were too tired last night. The children will arrive mid afternoon for a sleepover.

Thinking of all our mountaineers and wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Good morning everyone from a bright East Coast. So nice to wake up to a bright day. I feel cheery already. DH is preparing our breakfast of avocado and egg on toast.

Yesterday I went to pick up my prescription and was asked when I’d last had my blood pressure taken. It was two years ago when I was last at the Drs. But we check on our own machine and it’s always ok. I was nervous when I went into the office to have it taken and of course it was quite high. He went through all the lifestyle questions and apart from liking a red wine a bit too much that’s the only thing I need to change. After taking it two more times it came down and when I got home and we took it again it was perfect though I am expecting to hear from the docs although the pharmacist doesn’t think I will and asked me to just keep an eye on it and cut my wine intake which I am anyway. Then DH and I cleared a bottle while watching Bridgerton last night. 🤦

Today we have been invited to friends at 1pm for a coffee and a catch up. They are super people but we can only have a couple of hours because at 5 we are expected at other friends for dinner. The husband is my DHs friend from the gym and they happened to be at our hotel in Madeira. His wife and I got on famously so we are invited to theirs tonight. She is so kind to cook for us and my gluten free needs. We have been asked all week if we like this or that. We need to pop out this morning and get some flowers for her and some biscuits to take to our lunchtime meet up.

Hope everyone has a lovely day with sparks of joy. 🌼
Thoughts to those with illness and family worries 💐

Grandmabatty it took everything in me to stay calm and keep smiling😂

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 6"C and sounds windy.
Both my tablets were flat, despite the charger being new. It must be faulty.
I tried reading GN on my phone, but the print was too small for me to read.

What a pity, Ash, if possible, I always book an accessible room, it doesn't cost any more. What a difference, to have more space and be easy to access.

I have some good news, my DIL has turned a corner. DS phoned me to describe their circuit of the ward, Small steps.

I didn't have a great day yesterday, However, my phone call with the senior GP partner was very productive,
He is famed for his impassiveness, very much to the point and wastes no time on chit chat,
I burst into rears (so unlike me), explaining how unwell I was and how upset, that DIL was so ill and I couldn't help.
He threw me, when he gently told me not to worry and that DD was in good hands and he would give me something to help the vertigo.
I also explained that I was dealing with a diverticulitis flare up into the bargain, He prescribed something to help relieve the painful spasms in my abdomen.
I should have asked for help sooner,

DH trotted off to the surgery to pick up the prescriptions, He was panicking, because his new PC was being delivered and what if I couldn't deal with it.
You are talking about the woman, who used to take delivery of twenty plus at a time, then set them up.😉
What a dilemma. Choose your wife's health or your much anticipated new PC. 🤣

To ensure that there were no mishaps, I typed up exactly what he was to say and what was on the prescriptions.
The phone rang, I'm in the surgery, what was it, I was to ask for?. 🙈
Show the receptionist the list!, I said, trying to stay calm.
Did he? Of course not!!
Eventually, the receptionist took the phone from him, after he mangled the pronunciation of every drug. She had no idea, what he was talking about.🤣
He had them in stitches, when he said he wasn't to be trusted and not allowed out on his own, hence the list.
I had advised him, that some of the repeats, might not be ready, but he hadn't listened and was insisting he had to get them.
The receptionists were so patient and he did eventually leave with the anti nausea meds.
The receptionist said, He is trying his best, I said you are correct, he is certainly trying.♥️

About an hour later, I got another phone call from the surgery, which surprised me.
It was the pharmacist checking up to see if my new meds, with different packaging were easier to open. They were, so onto the repeats they went.
I explained that Dr I had just prescribed medication for my diverticulitis and I had to keep making special requests for it. It is now on repeat, as we speak, she said.
What a positive morning.

I spent the rest of the day, doing little and ordered takeaway for dinner. I couldn't face cooking. I am still listing to port or is it starboard, like a drunken sailor. 😉

No Vigil Mass again for me tonight, I'm not well enough to do anything.
DD is coming to take away charity bags for me, after my recent cull. I have been ruthless, but I still have no wardrobe space. 🤣

I wish you all a pleasant day. I love reading about all your doings.
I have just managed to post, before my tablet shuts down. Whew!

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

On Thursday the 29th, I had my final lovely Full English brekkie and a huge glass of strawberry milkshake at the Crown & Cushion, said goodbye to a couple of friends, didn't tell anyone else, then POOF! I drove off to wonderful Whitby to my new flat!

Which is where I'm sitting now, at the bigger bedroom window, which I'm turning into an office/study area, by the Promenade.

I finally feel ''free'', like I've come full circle, and I KNOW I've lived here before in a previous existence or dimension; I've been called back to my original place.

Even if, for whatever reason, I move flats again over the years, I'm never leaving Whitby; I will always be here somewhere.

I start my new job in a couple of weeks, so I'll spend these few days getting my flat sorted and arranged. I've got a whopper of a cold on me with thumping headaches, shaking, etc., so I'm guzzling a mug of PG Tips and scoffing raspberries!

I hate cleaning/housework, so I will have to hire a f/t cleaner as soon as I can.

Pet-wise, it would be unfair on a dog or cat as I'll be out at work every day except Thursday, which will be my day off, so I'm thinking of a Hamster or a couple of mice or rats, or even a Milk Snake.

I'm crashing back to bed for a bit to try to shift this bug.

Have a brilliant one, all of you!

Marydoll I am so pleased your DIL is on the mend and that you have had help from the drs and pharmacist.x

Hello everyone from the cold but bright west midlands.
Well, not much to say other than, I washed my hair today and now I look like flipping Ken Dodd's sister. How tickled I'm not. 😊

Cressy Sat 31-Jan-26 10:52:51

Marydoll. Very pleased to hear of an improvement in your DiL’s health. You must have had quite an effect on her…😏. I keep thinking of your little Dollie who is the same age as one of my DGDs. My lovely girl is a typical first child and can find life very intense at times. I believe that between the age of 8-12 children go through quite a big transition. On the other hand her little sister who is a carbon copy of your Babydoll albeit 3 years older has a teflon approach to life and nothing much seems to affect her. Long may that last. 😆

Marydoll Sat 31-Jan-26 11:21:27

Cressy, DS has just messaged to say, that Babydoll had just told him off, saying she was going to tell his mum about him.
He asked her, who his mum was. Gaga, she replied. 🤣
