Gm and Utbb, DH and I both find David Attenborough’s voice irritating and sometimes watch his programmes with the sound off! I do admire what he has done, through his life’s work bringing so many aspects of the natural world to our screens and he seems to be a thoroughly lovely person.
I do like Chris Packham and now that we understand that he has autism it is easier to make allowances for his ‘peculiarities’. I think his on-screen relationship with Michaela Strachan is heart-warming - she knows how to gently tease him without upsetting him.
Monty is lovely, no disagreement allowed 🤣
I don’t think any of them would be easy to live with - but then, probably neither am I!

Grandmattie I thought I was the only person in existence who doesn’t like David Attenborough. So pleased there is one more.

Greyduster I too have an irrational dislike of Monty Don and Chris Packham! Cannot hear to watch them on tv.
Oh, me too, with an especial dislike for CP. and I’m afraid that I don’t worship at the David Attenborough alter; I can’t bear his voice.
Good morning from coastal West Sussex. I have been laid up with a horrible cold and cough since I came back from Scotland. It is on the wane but I haven’t got my mojo back yet.
Along with other neighbours, friends and family, we said goodbye to our neighbour and friend, who died just after New Year after two years of living with terminal cancer. It was inspiring and moving to hear the tributes to R and see photos from her long and fully-lived life. I look across at her empty house and miss her very much.
Madeleine, I enjoyed reading about your garden and seaside visits - you are inspirational in the way you overcome your health problems to make the most of your days.
Grammaretto, lovely bowls and snowdrops and lovely vase of snowdrops 🥰. My last attempt to grow snowdrops, bought ‘in the green’, has failed, like all previous attempts in this garden. I think our soil is too heavy, in spite of all the compost and grit we have added over the past 10 years.
Marydoll, I’m glad to read that you, and your dear DiL are a little better.
ginny, I join with others on here, in sadness for the untimely death of your nephew and the grief you and all his friends and family are feeling 💐
I still have Christmas cards to take down, blu-tacked to the book case doors mainly so taking them down is one of today’s tasks as it is Candlemas tomorrow, I think, and St Brigid’s day today - I read that it is now a public holiday in Ireland, celebrating the contributions of women to society.
Hallo again everyone. Just thought I would come back to read some more posts, while I had a much needed sit down.
So sorry to hear your news Ginny and I send my condolences to you and your family. Marydoll I was pleased to read your post, as for some reason I have been missing it for a couple of days. I hope you get out to your visit, husband permitting!! Also hoping you are feeling a bit better and no doubt glad to see the back of January as I am. Whiteswan63, what a good idea to visit your friends. Our pets mean a lot to us and of course are there every day so you miss them at many times, and cant help noticing their usual walk times or dinner times etc., which is hard to get through and so hope that you will be a very welcome distraction for them . Blossoming was that Glasson Dock you were near when the coastguards were out and about?
Ah cheering that rare thing the sun as just come out again, and really visible now. I am not up to walking much but will hobble round the flats to make them most of it, before continuing the search for my wretched reading glasses and also my small hairbrush. Have found one or two other items and of course a lot of biros down chair arms etc but no luck with the glasses. Fortunately, I always keep the last pair in the car glove compartment, in case I forget the lastest pair when I am out. They are not brilliant but at least let me read instructions etc . I must keep looking as the thought of having to fork out for another pair is cringing! Deciding and spending money on something special or that you have saved for is one thing, having to pay out for a second pair is maddening, so the search goes on!
They’ve e raised a smile here Grammaretto thank you, lovely bowls too.
Good morning and white rabbits from a brighter northwest coast.
A walk around a park I’m not so keen on here yesterday. My favourite is much smaller and started off as a pleasure garden, so it has more individuality. However I felt like a change, even in the rain and took myself off. I had a light lunch in the modest cafe there and wrote a poem. I like writing poems on trains or out and about. The ‘muse’ doesn’t seem to strike at home.
Returning home, I made a couple more cards for upcoming birthdays and found more backing tracks for my songs on YouTube. It’s fun trying out various keys and arrangements.
Flying DD off to Sydney, a nine day trip whilst I’m having another quiet day at home.
Thoughts to ginny FGT and all🌺
Good morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire and welcome to February, January has been a challenge. Yet another lifelong friend died yesterday. She had been very poorly for a long time but well looked after by her lovely daughter. Such a good person, never criticised anyone, only smiled at their ‘quirks’ while I fulminated.
I’m sorry to hear your very sad news too Ginny.
Good to see you back Georgesgran
Blue sky has appeared here, a nice start for the month. I’m out for lunch today and I think I’ll walk to the restaurant, it’s a fair bit and probably what I need in order to be decent company.
As always keeping those with heavy burdens to bear in my thoughts and wishing everyone a good day.
So please to see you, Georgesgran. 💕

Mary doll, have you been on the steam train at Bo'ness?
On my list, GMB. I have raised it many timeswith 😉 Mr Deaf Ears.
First month of retirement over and must say I should be doing more. I have met up with some friends and old colleagues which was nice. But it has been so cold and my house so warm and comforting been like a long holiday. I will get into some routine this month and get out and about. Can’t wait for the spring to get out in the garden.
Good morning everyone from misty overcast Lancashire.
It’s calm and dry so the mist is burning off as the sun comes out. The coastguard were around the Dock quite a bit yesterday but no sign of anyone needing rescuing, perhaps it was a training exercise. We are going out for a walk now, will read posts later,
Best wishes to all who are struggling with life at the moment.
Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.
Greyduster I too have an irrational dislike of Monty Don and Chris Packham! Cannot hear to watch them on tv.
Good morning from Kent where it is very still and cool. The blackbirds are hopping about in the garden.
I have a touch of bronchitis so am taking it easy today despite plenty of jobs calling me.
I ventured out into the garden to get some fresh air into my lungs. It felt so good after a few days of being snuggled inside the house.
karmalady incorporating a turning back of the clock into one's everyday life sounds such a wonderful idea. That thought really resonated with me. I have a feeling that it will become more and more popular, especially with the younger generation taking up the traditional crafts such as knitting.
Wishing contentment for all today.
Good morning all and it’s dry and not too dull here in Essex.
Not a good start to the day - I heard Dh calling and found him pinned to the bed with the clothes rail on top of him.
Too many clothes that he won’t get rid of.
I struggled to get it off him.
He had cramp and leapt out of bed, hung on to the rail and pulled it on top of him.
Oh dear!
I must sort out a bag of his clothes for charity shop.
Today we’ll go to DD’s and hopefully see some improvement .
DGD had a nice time there yesterday with her brothers and little puppy who she’s missed.
Ginny 💐.
Take care 🌱
I love the bowls Grammaretto.
Good morning everyone and happy white rabbits day from a cloudy damp Northampton. Have slept a bit later this morning so am only just drinking my tea while listening to Sounds of the Sixties (again!) on Alexa.
Will be sorting out stuff for tomorrow's charity collection this morning. I am at last clearing the shoes from the bottom of my wardrobe, several pairs, unworn for many years!
A good day at the rugby yesterday, our young guns coming out top over our arch rivals Leicester 44-22. Not as chilly as I was expecting, but I still had a delicious hot sloe gin toddy!
Out for a late lunch today to celebrate the three family birthdays in January and February - DD, DS-in-law,.and DS. We are trying a new restaurant in town at the request of the DGDs.
Wishing all a pleasant Sunday and a good February.
Good morning from 6 degrees Cambridgeshire and a dry morning but rain coming in after midday. I’m still in bed after a restless night. Not sure of my plans today. Will put beef shin in the slow cooker for later and maybe go off for a walk at a local beauty spot. DH is bowling (again) He is very enthusiastic!
My condolences Ginny 💐
Good to seeing you posting Georgesgran
Take care everyone and have a peaceful Sunday
Good morning from a dull chilly Co Armagh
I have a cold so didn't venture out yesterday , coughed and sneezed myself into a sore throat , ribs joined in , it will be another day in the armchair, I’ve kindle charged
Prayers for that poor man taken too soon ginny.
No Mass in our chapel the first Sunday of the month , one thing I found in lockdown was finding Mass live on the web
I hope today brightens our sad and poorly friends
A later Good Morning from Stockport.
I couldn’t get to sleep last night so consequently I was later waking up.
It is dull, still and mild.
A very quiet day yesterday but so pleased to see the end of January, for me it has not been a good month.
I have four birthdays in the next two weeks so must get out tomorrow somehow to buy cards.
I only buy one present though, one is a friend with whom we only exchange cards , two are family who like monetary gifts, that is easy and for the friend I do give gifts to, I have ordered one from M&S and I have arranged to take her out for a meal which she is very happy about.
We are also having fillet steak tonight, they have been in the freezer since way before Christmas, bought for a festive meal which I never felt like.
Thoughts as always with those going through difficult times.
Ginny
Good morning everyone from the East Coast.
Sending sincerest condolences to you and your family ginny💐
Yesterday we had two lovely visits to friends. Coffee and cake first and later a beautiful dinner cooked so thoughtfully but so much good for four of us and so delicious. It was a day full of chat and laughs. One of our lovely friends is a retired GP and fascinating to talk to though she has terrible health anxiety.
I’m waiting for DD to arrive. DH is still asleep so DGD 2 will wake him up. We are looking after her while GD1 goes to gymnastics. I am defrosting sausages and I thought we could all have sausage sandwiches when they come back. We will maybe pop over and visit our best friends later for a cuppa. They are really struggling after losing their dog and best friend said yesterday “I can barely get out of bed as there is nothing to get up for now” we feel so sorry for them and are worried. It’s not like them at all. So we will go over this afternoon.
Hope everyone who is feeling sad, worried or in pain can find a small spark of joy today somewhere. Thoughts to all 🌼🌹
