I feel all this disgusting news that surrounds ‘ Epstein’ has eroded my faith in government..all the lies and scandals

The shame that had been put upon King Charles it’s such an embarrassment for Britain and when does it stop?

StoneofDestiny Fri 06-Feb-26 21:35:52

It’s no longer just about what Andrew should do, it’s about what the Royals knew and did nothing about (except pay. £12 million pounds to keep him out of court. It’s also about what the police and Royal Protection Officers knew.

M0nica Fri 06-Feb-26 20:31:19

AMW is too thick to recognise a warning, even if it was given.

AGAA4 Fri 06-Feb-26 16:13:45

I have said before AMW could very well know names of some of the powerful men who were involved with Epstein and abused under age girls.
Do you think these men would allow Andrew to give evidence.
He could have been warned off.

M0nica Fri 06-Feb-26 15:59:29

What else can the King do, he has taken away every title and honour and responsibility AMW has, dehoused him and rehoused him in a small house (by his standards) in remote rural spot. Cut him out of family gatherings.

I am darn sure the king will be putting pressure on his son to to come clean on everything and make statement to the US authorities in the UK. But if AMW will not the King can do no more than we could in that situation.

StoneofDestiny Fri 06-Feb-26 15:42:11

Allira in the US case they voted for their President - so they are responsible. They can also get rid of their President. We have unelected Royals and we have no choice but to pay for their lifestyle and security.

Allira Fri 06-Feb-26 13:35:54

We are all being taken for fools by the monarchy and the institutions surrounding them

Just like the USA and other countries are with their Presidents and the institutions surrounding them.

StoneofDestiny Fri 06-Feb-26 09:20:20

The Royal family did protect Andrew at first but with new revelations coming regularly it became untenable for them
King Charles has been less protective of his brother than the late Queen was
They are still protecting him. It is obvious they knew what was going on for a long time time and have been trying to ‘hush it up’.
It’s obvious too they are more concerned about keeping the monarchy going than seeking justice for the victims. They should have a had all the evidence handed over to the victims lawyers. It’s truly nauseating hearing them say now ‘what about the victims’ having been silent for years about them.
We are all being taken for fools by the monarchy and the institutions surrounding them, They are showing clearly how corrupt they are and how the police are being corrupted.

I think, judging by our local MP's (none of whom are well known), there a lots of good people there. Frankly, locally, nothing to complain off, hard workers and good regular surgeries.

I also agree that things haven't "got worse", and agree with posters who point out that all is happening is that we find out about matters we didn't before.

I don't think this is the end of Starmer by a long way, buts its a lesson he will never, ever, forget.

He appointed someone on the basis you need dirty fire to fight dirty fire, a massive, massive error.

We grumble about him, but what is it like for people in the US? I don't think (as a LP member) Raynor has a chance - her record is far too poor and she most certainly imo doesn't have real leadership qualities. she isn't favoured by the large chunk of middle left ground of the party who want a Burnham type as I do. The time will come.
Our voting in the non Starmer candidate Lucy Powell - for deputy leader - says it all. Current concerns are about keeping Reform out in local elections and Gorton.

King Charles isn’t snowy white either. He wanted to be a tampon. There’s a saying all power corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It does make you lose faith.

If you are going to bring up a private telephone call which was hacked and sold to the press at least get the detail right. He did not ‘want to be a tampon’, quite the opposite in fact.

AGAA4 Fri 06-Feb-26 08:47:30

The King must be mortified by the actions of his brother

It’s not just the actions of his brother that needs to be under scrutiny, it’s at actions and inactions of the Royal Family. Andrew’s associations were clearly known by the Royal Family. No way he could have brought Epstein, Maxwell and various girls/women to Buckingham Palace and Balmoral without the most senior royals being aware and the police and palace security knowing about it. All the investigations should involve them. We taxpayers have to pay for this royal security that travels with them everywhere. Let us see exactly how far the corruption and cover up goes. Prince Charles should not be protected from public scrutiny.

sixandahalf Fri 06-Feb-26 08:23:53

Maybe this will end the rather sad deference to the Windsor clan.

Working Royals? Hilarious.

A comment best left unsaid and not relevant to the OP's thread.

StoneofDestiny Fri 06-Feb-26 08:15:57

The whole royal family and police and palace security involvement in the Epstein affair needs fully investigated.
It’s always been clear Andrew travelled with police protection officers and they would have known exactly who he was associating with and when. Palace security and the police would also have known who he was inviting to stay at royal palaces. That means the royal family knew - the former Queen and Prince Charles.
Pretty clear why the former Queen paid the £12 million to keep Andrew out of court. The whole affair needs ripping wide open and the police brought before an inquiry to testify just what went on.

eazybee Fri 06-Feb-26 06:42:29

I think far more is revealed via investigative journalism and social media today about prominent people than ever in the past, although the wealthy were surrounded by servants who saw everything and could be bribed to reveal it.
Then there is silly Harry wasting millions fighting trivia, driven by a money-obsessed wife just like Auntie Fergie.

Er..... daft "sexy talk" between a bloke and his girlfriend (at the time) about being her tampon are hardly on a par with Epsteins behaviour!!

nanna8 Fri 06-Feb-26 05:46:04

Do you think those standing as politicians are actually worse morally than they used to be or is it just that we find out more about them these days through social media etc ? I suspect they were always pretty self seeking , we just didn’t hear about it. Pre tv you couldn’t see them much and just relied on out of date newspapers. We looked on them as people to reect and admire. I really can’t think of a single one I admire these days, Labour, Liberal or how’s your father.

mum2three Fri 06-Feb-26 05:41:50

It is sad that people in high office have such poor standards and lack of morals. However, you only have to study history to see that this is nothing new. At least we can get rid of the Prime Minister, unlike when the country had a serving monarch.

Epstein and Nigel Farage have been seen together some time ago

There was a picture circulating recently, which was obviously AI, so I’d doubt Farage ever met Epstein.

Welcome Basgetti 😀 to GN and confirming your credentials - although you didn’t need to…there are some very fiery GNs on here and TBH, NO-one really knows the person behind the comments on here…

Thank you 😊

Sadly we have had a long line (in recent years) of PM’s of both parties who have treated the British public with nothing but contempt and have assumed that we are all morons.
👏👏👏

Starmer 'apologising' for being taken in by Mandelson's lies is very, very unconvincing.
Surely all the raised eyebrows and background whispering when he appointed Mandelson as ambassandor to the USA should have rung alarm bells?
But I think Starmer must have known at least SOMETHING well before he gave Mandelson the appointment.

The British public have been assumed to be village idiots and treated with contempt by a weak - and yet arrogant - PM.

His position is untenable.

Sadly we have had a long line (in recent years) of PM’s of both parties who have treated the British public with nothing but contempt and have assumed that we are all morons. I’m thinking of Boris and the parties at Downing Street during covid as well as Starmer and his antics around this issue as well asTony Blair and Iraq Liz Truss and that disaster budget. I could go on.

mae13 agree its untenable but who should replace him???
Have no faith in any of them ...so utterly utterly depressing

Agree with everythingmae13 says.

As to your question Bea65 as to who should replace him - anyone could, he isn't irreplaceable. He's a disgrace and shouldn't be holding office.

How is this relevant to this discussion? Someone committing adultery with someone of full age is a million miles away from someone who deliberately seeks out vulnerable under age girls and traffics them for sex.

Absolutely. The King must be mortified by the actions of his brother. To heckle him whilst out and about, typical mob behaviour.
