Skewed priorities

This was last week and a massively brave Abbie Johnson spoke out about her ordeal of being sexually assaulted by an Iranian who came here illegally.

For once, the judge did a great job and didn’t fall for any of the usual old rubbish that this dangerous predator’s lawyer tried to make him believe to get let off.

It’s quite a long report so keep scrolling. Well done Abbie.

As long as they are concentrating on the grooming gangs of course.

Casdon Wed 11-Feb-26 09:35:13

I don’t think there are skewed priorities between the Epstein scandal and grooming gangs. One of them is a worldwide network involving powerful people, and not only related to sexual attacks, and one is a UK issue. The big difference between them is that the Epstein implications have far greater political and economic consequences for the UK and the rest of the (mainly) Western world. Most of us are capable of considering multiple issues at the same time, and concentrating on one issue does not mean that we, or politicians, are not also concentrating on another.

I think the answer Aveline lies solely with ethnicity, as nobody wanted to be accused of being racist🤬
Why they should continue to want to bury it can only be fear of losing votes. It’s a total disgrace.

No it's not new.In 1970 I went to Valentines park aged 15 and a middle aged man with a young boy touched me up and asked me to meet him next week to see his sister's baby.Fuck knows what would have happened if I had gone 😭

That was an individual creepy chancer tho, not a whole grooming gang.
You were unlucky as the only things I met in Valentines Park
( Ilford) were very tame squirrels.

Why hush up anything corrupt and illegal? Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris, Jeffrey Epstein?

I suspect the reason is to do with money, not religion.

Aveline Tue 10-Feb-26 21:24:52

So why hush up all the Muslim grooming gangs for so long?

keepingquiet Tue 10-Feb-26 21:18:15

The grooming of minors by sexual predators is not a racial or religious issue.

Aveline Tue 10-Feb-26 21:06:06

At least that Afghan boat person who raped the 12 year old was actually on the news today and not ignored for purposes of not offending ethnic sensitivities.

I suppose it's because the media loves and feeds on a good scandal that all eyes are on the Epstein files. Dirty deeds by wealthy high profile people. However, to my mind it's the hushed up scandals regarding Muslim men, in large numbers, grooming and desperately abusing young vulnerable girls that's a more important story. It's not new. It's widespread and it's just overlooked in favour of focussing on the behaviour of the rich shiny people in high places.
I'm furious that the plight of these poor working class girls is just not a good enough story to really highlight or actually do something about.

It’s one of those things that everyone knows about now but something the government wishes would go away so they don’t have to face it, they’re terrified of losing votes in areas of high ethnicity. It’s the worse scandal in the UK in modern times in my view.

Exactly this👏👏👏👏👏

I have no idea who the Russian woman is but most of the women travelled abroad, usually with Ghislaine who had control of their passports.

I believe that in the beginning Epstein used Ghislaine to scout out local schools to look for victims, targeting those who looked uncared for or alone. They don’t call him a pedophile for nothing.
Also older women can be groomed, coerced, and trafficked. I read that Ghislaine took the women’s passports away. There is no age at which a woman ceases to become a potential victim.
Also I seriously hope that police forces don’t just drop cases of girls being groomed by gangs in the UK because something else is in the headlines, I doubt that is how they operate, and I doubt that is how those in government addressing this operate either.
But those on here showing concern can raise the issue with their MP. I do this when dissatisfied with the response to a burning political issue.
Epstein is presently in the news because his nefarious activities have had repercussions for governments both sides of the pond, and I for one think it is imperative we know just how high the rot has gone.

The Russian woman must have had her passport to travel to UK.

Is she the same Russian woman who sent Epstein an email saying what a great night she had?

I doubt all the women involved in Epstein's arrangements were victims. That Russian woman who flew over for Andrew MW was 26. Quite able to be a consenting adult in business for herself.

Mrsluckhurst Thu 05-Feb-26 13:05:28

That's shocking, sago. Just watched Starmer apologising to Epsteins victims ( quite rightly) but I can't recall (I might be wrong here) him apologising publically to the grooming gangs victims.

Sago Thu 05-Feb-26 10:39:50

I will, I’m not holding my breath!

Aveline Thu 05-Feb-26 10:34:50

Let us know when you get a response Sago

The media loves anything that will take the focus away from such stories.

All in the name of social cohesion.

I tend not to post on these threads as it ends up in a ridiculous slanging match.

Under the Freedom of Information it has been asked what is the breakdown of sexual crime in the UK by ethnicity.

The answer is that these figures are not available and that it is only the ethnicity of the victims that is recorded.🤔.

I have written to ask my MP why.

I am still awaiting a reply.

Whingey Thu 05-Feb-26 09:52:39

Nobody was ever accountable for it!If I hear one more there are lessons to be learned I will bang my head against the wall!

Mrsluckhurst Thu 05-Feb-26 09:00:30

I totally agree with you, Aveline, so many victims. If it wasn't for Maggie Oliver I don't suppose we'd even know as much as we do. So much covering up, those poor vunerable children.
