I have booked an appointment with my surgery to have a RSV injection as I am over 75 , and can get breathless sometimes.
The usual bus trip to Bicester this morning ,a chance to use my renewed bus pass.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a blue-skyed, calm Cornwall where I sat up sewing late last night and so have slept in.

My granddaughter's lovely flop-eared bunny died yesterday and she couldn't get to sleep last night so she may end up here today until we get a bus to her village to collect her brother from school. At 4o'clock a crowd is assembling at their village shop with England flags to wave off my family's neighbour's son who is off to Cyprus to play football for England so I'll be walking my grandson down the hill to join in that lovely event.

gM, I make sure we don't store anything under the shared stairs here. I had to find my way downstairs from an attic flat in a fire in a shared house so I'm very fussy about the danger. My previous neighbour kept cans of petrol in our hallway at one point! 😳

Good morning from a wet and cold Cambridgeshire. I really feel I need to get out somewhere today and walk but it is so wet. Lots of stress with family issues are bothering me.

Sar I feel for your DH. I had eye surgery just over a year ago to lift my lower eyelids which had sagged away and causing problems. It was so painful, I was so bruised and traumatised so hoping he soon feels more comfortable.

Bella hope your dgs soon feels better and you do too. Maybe stay home today to avoid passing on your bugs.

GM I think I would have requested that if they needed moving someone help you to do this! Sounds like you had quite a day yesterday.

Hoping MD dil will recover well now and thinking of the FGT’s. Life seems so challenging for lots of you. Sending everyone struggling lots of love.

Good morning from dreary Wiltshire.

We had a lovely night away in Cheltenham on Wednesday as a late 70th birthday present from my 3 children and sister. We were so fortunate to have a lovely sunny day. We walked 8000 steps so I took neuronal beforehand as I knew my hip would start to ache badly after a while and pain was kept to a minimum. The theatre play Death on the Nile in the evening was very entertaining. It was nearly 2 hours long. In a lot of scenes they had 2 ship decks one up and one down with actors on both. Very clever scenery but such a shame we couldn’t take any pictures.

We had dinner at Côte close by before the play. The hotel looks fabulous from the outside and is in a prime position but is very faded inside. It could do with a makeover though it would cost millions. Breakfast wasn’t good at all. We had a lovely large room though. I fake “booked” a night for during Cheltenham gold cup week to see what it would cost. It was over £1000 per night, 7-8 times more than on Wednesday night according to the booking info. 😂

Yesterday the weather wasn’t conducive to walk around, so very pleased we did so the day before.

I’m so sorry your DinL has had such a major setback MD. You must all be worried sick. You’re poor daughter Kitty not being ably to have her surgery. My DD2 seems to know several people who were only in their early 20’s who had surgery a decade ago for gall bladder removal. This was long before weight loss injections were around.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can despite yet more rain.

Grandmabatty Fri 06-Feb-26 08:36:43

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and pouring rain.
It's a short post from me as I'm a bit under the weather. Yesterday I went back to bed. Today may be the same. Have a good day all

glammagran Fri 06-Feb-26 08:38:26

I’m so sorry your little chap is unwell Bella. My GS2 was hospitalised a couple of years ago aged 2 with RSV. His oxygen level was really low when admitted. Take care of yourself too.

harrigran Fri 06-Feb-26 08:40:54

Good morning from another grey and wet NE. Forecast is for rain all day but the wind seems to have moderated a little. I did not put the bin out last night so I will have to go and do it now.
Bellasnana, hope you feel better soon, GC are very generous at sharing germs.
Thoughts are with Marydoll and for continuing improvement of her DIL.
Have the best day you can.

WhiteSwan63 Fri 06-Feb-26 08:41:15

Good Morning from yet another gloomy rainy East Coast.

It’s good to hear your DDIL is on the mend Marydoll onwards and upwards for her continued recovery and virtual hugs for little Dollie

We had bad news yesterday our best friends and their family went to see the oncologist for a pivotal appointment and they said there is nothing more they can do for him. It’s palliative care now to keep him comfortable. We are all so sad for them. They told my friend her DHs time scale but he went out of the room. She is going to give up her caring job to care for him now.

I had a real moment of joy with my GS yesterday after school. Which by the way his teacher said he had been a star.
We have a magnetic writing board and I always write love messages on there for him after school for him to read. He indicated to me he wanted me to write the titles of his Julia Donaldson books on it for him to read. By mistake I wrote The Gruffalo Child and to my surprise he added the apostrophe and S on the end to make The Gruffalo’s Child. I was in tears of joy. He’s 11 autistic and is like a 3 year old but he did that. I couldn’t wait for DH and DS to come home from work to tell them. I thought DS was going to burst with pride. He really is the joy of my life that boy.

Today I have an empty as DH has a long day at work so I will maybe go to the gym later this morning. I should make the effort.

Wishing everyone a lovely day with moments of joy 🌼

So many family worries today but my thoughts are with you all 💐

Good morning from a very wet Suffolk. There must have been heavy rain overnight as our drive has huge puddles on it.

I discovered yesterday that a temporary post office is now open in the old Council offices in our nearest small market town. The old one closed about 2 months ago when the hardware shop,in which it was based suddenly stopped trading, along with 4 branches in this part of the county.

We knew that the Council were providing a stopgap venue until a permanent site was found but no date was given for its opening.

It is good news for the shops in the town as footfall has decreased sharply since people needing a post office have done their shopping in nearby towns when seeking out a post office.

So sorry to read of several posters so unwell. I hope all make a speedy recovery.

DH and I were thinking of going out for lunch today but I think, after the dog walk we might just stay at home in the warmth. The lanes were quite wet yesterday. Goodness knows how they will be today.

Good morning all from a very wet Black country, non stop rain now for over 24hrs.
Not much happening here at the abbey out with friends later.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later have overslept and my tummy wants its breakfast.
Hoping for some improvement on Marydoll DIL.
Have the best day you can everybody ☀️.

GrannySomerset Fri 06-Feb-26 09:09:15

The forecast is dire but it’s not actually raining just now so will get to the oldies’ coffee morning unscathed even if coming home is damp. Then bridge this afternoon, so a sociable day all round.

Sorry to read of so much illness and worry. We really do need spring but will have to endure February first ……..

luluaugust Fri 06-Feb-26 09:23:46

WhiteSwan what a joyous thing to happen with your GS, small steps 🙂

Usedtobeblonde Fri 06-Feb-26 09:26:54

Good morning from Stockport where the weather is like everyone else, dull damp and dark.
I am out for coffee with a friend this morning, her H died 2 weeks ago today, his funeral is not until 2 weeks next Monday,
They used to be within a week or so, how hard it is to carry on as normal for all that time.
My autistic GS has an inset day today so no battle to get him up and out for school, it is like a reprieve.
Best wishes once again to those with sadness to deal with, always on my mind.

aggie Fri 06-Feb-26 09:27:05

Good morning from a dark damp Co Armagh
I’m still coughing , hard on the ribcage !
Another day in the house , I set the dishwasher off last night so I’ll empty it soon , I can stand in one position and reach the drawers and cupboards to put the dishes away , so not a hard job
Hoping we all have a tolerable day

NanaBabs1 Fri 06-Feb-26 09:32:24

WhiteSwan63, you and your beloved grandson be very happy to know that there’s going to be a Gruffalo’s Gran in September!

BlueSapphire Fri 06-Feb-26 09:39:33

Good morning everyone from yet another dreary wet day in Northampton; I am fed up with it.
Later this morning as I have been searching high and low for the garage keys; I needed something from the freezer, garage keys not in usual place. Searched numerous coat pockets, kitchen and utility room cupboards, handbags etc to no avail. Came to the conclusion that I might have picked them up with the recycling and they might be in the bin.
Got the big bin into the garage, upended it, everything fell out and yes, there were the keys. Felt very relieved even though I did have a spare key.

Not dancing today because of my knee, so another day in . Until tonight when I aim to go to a Six Nations Rugby match - the England - Wales under 20s is being played at my club's ground, and DD, her DH and I have tickets. We shall be seeing the stars of the future.

Hope Bellasnana feels better soon, and that Marydoll's DIL continues.to make progress.
Wishing all the best day.

WhiteSwan63 Fri 06-Feb-26 09:47:01

NanaBabs Thankyou I’ve just googled it and we will definately buy that. Funnily enough he doesn’t associate the books with the animated movies and he won’t let anyone read them aloud to him he’s only interested in collecting them.

GrandmaC47 Fri 06-Feb-26 11:03:22

Wishing a better day for everyone with illness and worries 💐

Ashcombe Fri 06-Feb-26 11:19:25

glammagran: Very clever scenery but such a shame we couldn’t take any pictures

I’m glad you enjoyed the play - it certainly demands more glamorous costumes than many of the Agatha Christie plays! It will have been a requirement of the licence to perform being granted by the publisher that no photos or videos are taken. This restriction is applied to both professional and amateur productions.

Ilovedogs22 Fri 06-Feb-26 11:48:39

Good morning all from the west midlands.
Hurry-up Spring! My optimism at the beginning of the week has cleared -off! I feel cold, sulky, sweary & ratty & that's only the half of it. MrIlovedogs still loves dogs but really, absolutely hates me at the moment! The feeling is completely mutual & may remain so until one of us needs something or other, tut!
Anyway, away from Diva Tower's; best wish to all you Grans & a big thank you for keeping me just-on the right side of sane.
I haven't got my knickers on my head yet!

RosiesMawagain Fri 06-Feb-26 11:54:17

Were the books you left outside the flat for communal use, GrandMattie?
If so it seems churlish of the management to complain but should instead have found another spot, perhaps more accessible for everybody- you could have started a book exchange!

monk08 Fri 06-Feb-26 12:10:56

No Madeleine this morning hope she is ok.

Grandmabatty Fri 06-Feb-26 12:27:08

I noticed madeleine hadn't posted too. I hope she's ok

Blossoming Fri 06-Feb-26 13:15:24

Good afternoon all from stormy Lancashire. I was unable to post earlier due to a British Airways advert that kept covering the entire forum. I’m glad to hear your DiL is doing well and is being looked after Marydoll. I hope you are able to get some rest x
