Good Morning Everyone,
I have woken to a dark and wet morning here in Brackley.
Yesterdays Chiropodist visit did not happen,as its next week on Thursday error by me .
I have booked an appointment with my surgery to have a RSV injection as I am over 75 , and can get breathless sometimes.
The usual bus trip to Bicester this morning ,a chance to use my renewed bus pass.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from another dreary day in Bristol. I’m not a fan of February, I find it long and depressing with the cold, wet and dark. Can’t wait for March.
In a fit of pique and a lot of anger, I moved my book cases into the flat. ‘Elf and Safety for the complex have deemed that nothing not fixed to the wall, should be left in the communal areas. They are “fire and trip hazards “!
My book cases fit perfectly under the stairs, and in no way could cause any problem, unlike the large communal sunshade, not to mention wheelchairs and walkers, etc. are these supposed to be taken upstairs?
Anyway, I measured, pondered and decided to shift my two 1x5 Ikea cube thingies (Kallax?) into the flat.
I measured them carefully and found them 3cm too long to fit one horizontally in the hall way, yo use as a seat for putting shoes on. I had to rethink. In the end one went into the living room, the other into the already very crowded spare/sewing room.
I heaved over 300 books, sorting them into keep/give to charity shop heaps. The shelving itself was very heavy. Thank goodness for mats and “wooden” floors. I just pushed them along before slotting into their new place.
In the sewing room, it involved shifting two sets of drawers. The first was easy, not the second. I had to remove all the shelves, hit a plant pot which immediately threw compost all over the floor, into one drawer and places that other things would never reach. Cue exasperation and the vacuum!
Half done, I went to my t’ai chi class. A very energetic one this week, which always makes me very sleepy. Home, lunch, nap, finish the bookcase jobs.
Took the bus to DD’s for dinner. When I left home it was damp, I got off the bus, it was pouring. I did have my umbrella.
I had offered the family a takeaway for dinner as I had been scolded by DD for not spending enough. Little did I realise that it would cost me nearly £100! Is this normal for four pizzas and a couple of salads?
Spanish this morning, then I’ll be baking this afternoon for church coffee tomorrow morning.
MD, I’m glad your DiL’s problems have been diagnosed and something done about it. Susan, I’m pleased that your mum’s house is being cleared; it’s so emotional as well as hard work.
Carpe diem one and all 🦩🦩🦩🦩

One set of shelving in position!

Bellasnana Fri 06-Feb-26 05:54:23

Good morning from Malta where the forecast is for a sunny day with a high of 20°C.

Woke yesterday in a cold sweat with a fever and felt absolutely dreadful so wasn’t able to look after DGS2 who is still unwell and spent half the day in hospital again.

Tests show he has RSV and coronavirus hku1 so I expect I have one or both of those as well.

I was very shocked and so sorry to hear about your DiL Marydoll, as if you haven’t enough on your plate without this added worry. I hope she will make a good recovery from her ordeal.🙏🏻

grandMattie I can imagine your fury at having to shift your bookcases. What a job. The plant falling over was the final straw, I expect. I’d have cried!

I’m staying in bed this morning but hope to feel better by noon so I can go for a much needed trim.

Wishing a good day to you all,🤗

Good morning from a grey Kent.

Yesterday I ventured into London by train. Couldn't believe how quiet it was. Easily got a seat on the Tube Central Line. Mooched about the National Gallery, had a coffee, went home in time to watch Clive Myrie's travels in Africa.

Today is a yoga and rest day.

grandMattie that sounds very tough on you but I like that you moved the bookcase yourself.

Wishing all a problem- free day.

Good morning from s somerset, another grey and rainy day today

Yesterday came and went but I did potter, not much cleaning but positive stuff like mixing herbs and lots of non-fiction reading, to soak into my brain. It was a calm relaxing day

My ds is on the move today, from Glasgow to Aberdeen, to a much smaller forever house with an overall small footprint, high ceilings, big windows and modern like a grand designs design. They got rid of a great deal of stuff and most furniture and had a bit bigger mortgage. I have been worried but they are adults and his OH will still have to find work. He can work from home. The logistics have been very difficult re the move and missives were only completed 2 days ago. However they are very excited and happy and I will sleep better once they are in

300 books in a communal area GM I don`t get it. They belong to you, should be in your own apartment. We were always very clear on communal areas wrt health and safety and fire hazards especially combustibles, such as ikea cubes and books, by stairs, this is to protect the people upstairs and also the escape route for vulnerable oldies. That set of stairs might well be their only escape route

Another relaxing day for me today, I am going to gently sort out the things under my bed

Have a good day

grandMattie Fri 06-Feb-26 06:17:13

Poor you, bellas; children are so generous with their germs. I hope what you have is”just” ‘flu, not covid or RSV. Look after yourself.
I was in such a rage, that it (and a lot of naughty words 🤬) kept me going; no time for tears or recriminations. That came later 😆

Melanie61 Fri 06-Feb-26 06:24:36

Good morning from Sheffield.
The weather lady on the radio has just said it going to rain all day . Such a lot of rain we’ve had. I don’t think it’s stopped for 10 days now

The Bowie show was fabulous last night . Really enjoyed hearing his music sung live

I am really missing my regular walks but it’s so miserable

My usual catch up with my friend today and I am going to try and grab some outside time
It’s no wonder we are all vitamin D deficient

Take care everyone flowers

RosesandLilac Fri 06-Feb-26 06:24:59

Good morning, it’s raining here in south Glos, seems to be the norm nowadays.
I spent yesterday morning giving the upstairs a good clean and tidy, followed by the kitchen. Then I spent an hour or so in the afternoon sock knitting followed by another hour unpicking what I’d just done because I found a dropped stitch several inches down and, because of the pattern, I could just work it back up 😵‍💫
I have art group this morning, little enthusiasm but I’ll make the effort.
Scampi, chips and peas for dinner I think 😋
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

GrannyGravy13 Fri 06-Feb-26 06:36:27

Good morning from a dark and rainy S E Essex.

The 10yr old put in his breakfast order before he went to bed last night, will wake him up at 7am.

I shall go to the gym this morning, hopefully be able to do a bit more each time I go and get back to my former fitness levels.

Last day of steroids today, yippee!

Sorry that your little GS is so poorly Bellasnana I hope you haven’t caught anything from him, and you both feel better soon.

Thinking of Marydoll’s D-I-L and all our poorly morning friends and those with troubles 🙋‍♀️

Greyduster Fri 06-Feb-26 06:55:37

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but very wet again. Rain in biblical proportions forecast. Yesterday we had sleet showers too. I spent the whole day indoors catching up on small jobs, cleaning bedrooms and reading. I took my knitting out, looked at it and put it away again! So near and yet so far😂!

School this afternoon and it looks as if I shall be driving there. Shame, as I enjoy the walk. Can’t really believe the weekend has come round again so quickly.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Gagagran Fri 06-Feb-26 07:06:41

Good morning from a wet south central coast. It's milder though - 14c on our garden thermometer.

Tesco delivery is due between 8 and 9 am and I have a hair appointment this afternoon. Much needed too! Nothing else on the agenda but as always, something will crop up.

So sorry to hear how poorly your little DGS is Bellasnana and it does sound as if he may have generously shared his virus with you. Hope you are soon both feeling much better.

Thinking of all our GNs who are struggling with burdens of different types and wishing them a peaceful and calmer day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 06-Feb-26 07:21:38

Morning all from a wet and grey West Oxfordshire.

OH and I enjoyed our lunch out yesterday. I listened to the final V&A lecture when we got back, on Tudor architecture.

Elder son and granddaughter will arrive early evening and will stay until Sunday. I will sort their rooms out and think about what to feed them.

Have a good day especially those with difficulties.

FGT2S 🌹

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s raining again. Another wet day is forecast. I went to DD1’s yesterday afternoon and had dinner with them, which was very pleasant. My car was delivered back to me yesterday evening, I have to drive it to see if its performance has improved, so I’ll brave the weather and have a drive around and hope it behaves itself. At about 11.00 last night I realised that DD1 was hinting that she needed me to look after the dog and DGDs on Tuesday. I’ll have to rearrange my opticians appointment as I won’t be able to get there in time.
grandmattie well done for moving your bookcases and books, quite a task to move all those books. Yes, takeaway food and eating in restaurants has become very expensive now.

bellasnana I hope you and your dgs2 will soon feel better.

Hoping for better news from marydoll this morning, such a frightening situation for her poor daughter in law and the whole family.

Thinking of all those who are struggling in any way.

Have the best day possible everyone. Keep warm and dry.

Ashcombe Fri 06-Feb-26 07:26:12

Good morning from a damp Torbay.

So sorry to hear about your DGS, Bellasnana and hope the hospital treatment will soon help. Take good care of yourself.

Thoughts with Marydoll’s DIL, too. So many with health worries at the moment.

That sounds like a hard job, grandMattie, regarding your books, etc. We had a similar issue about a wooden sideboard stored beneath stairs that are the exit from rehearsal rooms and a dressing room at our theatre. Following an inspection, it had to be moved elsewhere.

DH came home with his new passport last night for which he had to pay a hefty sum to have it issued the same day.

I hope everyone can find something to make them smile today. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

cornergran Fri 06-Feb-26 07:27:58

Morning Mick, morning All. Wet and very wet sums up our corner of Somerset.

A decent enough day for us yesterday other than more distress from our goddaughter. She is in a very bad place, very unwell and sounds to be verging on physical and emotional collapse. Our Welsh friend seemed better this week which cheered me.

Volunteering for me this morning, I’m looking forward to it. Mr C has ‘volunteered’ to clean the sinks and try to get a spare part for our shower from the manufacturer. We half recall being told it’s necessary to buy a whole unit but as the plumber said it’s worth a try. Fish and chips for lunch today. I feel like wandering out afterwards, I’ve itchy feet at the moment.

Best wishes to everyone and a hope Friday is kind to us all

EkwaNimitee Fri 06-Feb-26 07:37:02

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, damp Carlisle.

Yesterday morning I got the ironing and bathroom cleaning done. I cried off from a walk, it was cold, windy and showery. I could have wrapped up and gone but I wasn't in martyr mode.
I caught up with reading in the afternoon. A dull day really in more ways than one, the early breaks in the cloud disappeared and it was heavy cloud and gloom all day, lights required on in the house.

Today, into town shortly on various necessary errands including collecting a prescription. They take so long to be fulfilled these days, on the part of the surgery and the pharmacy both.

More reading catch up later I hope and will a walk be possible?

Good for you, grandMattie, it's your home! Looks good with those bookcases in now.

Have a good day everyone, this greyness and rain can't last forever, can it?!

Gingster Fri 06-Feb-26 07:37:35

Good morning ☔️.

We still have DGD staying with us but I’ll take her home for the weekend, as she’s missing her mum, puppy and brothers.

Dd slightly improved but it’s going to be a while before she’s up and about.

Today we’ll meet out Friday friends. We’ll get a cab there and one of our pals will bring us home.

Well done Matty. Good for you.👏.
Poor you Bellas . It doesn’t seem long ago you had another bout! What a winter for viruses! I seem to be surrounded by them.
I hope your DIL is progressing Marydoll 🙏.

Take care all 🌱

Georgesgran Fri 06-Feb-26 07:39:59

Good morning from Durham. Another grey, wet, dismal day here. Not ideal, as I have DD2’s Little Dog staying for a couple of days - soaked and cold on our walk yesterday.
Coffee with a friend this morning, then a neighbour is popping in for a coffee and another (no doubt) unpleasant walk with the dog.
Hoping to read that things are improving for some GNs, but now it seems others are also in the ‘sick bay’.

Best wishes to all. X

luluaugust Fri 06-Feb-26 07:41:30

Good morning from a soggy W Kent. A small shop during the week means I don’t need to go out this morning but this afternoon I hope to get to my small deaf group. We have a cup of tea and a chat which in the circumstances can be interesting.
Yesterday’s art group was well attended but the 84 year old lady who runs it is moving about 10 miles away. She says she will keep coming but I am not sure, we have been together about 15 years and only have the hall because she knows the caretaker.
gM what a job, my mums sheltered accommodation had about a dozen books for exchange in the meeting room
Bella sounds horrible I should stay where you are.
Best wishes to all.

brook2704 Fri 06-Feb-26 07:42:06

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark but looks dry
Hope you’re feeling much better soon Bellas and your little DGS too
I’ve an online volunteering session this morning and nothing planned after that, I’ll probably potter about at home. Yesterday we enjoyed a visit to Inverness castle and lunch in the cafe there
Hoping Marydolls DiL is doing ok
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Jaxjacky Fri 06-Feb-26 07:46:36

Morning from a damp S Hants, more rain due later. Plumber came yesterday and fixed our en-suite toilet, one job ticked off.
Tesco delivery later and I must try and sort a haircut at home, it’s driving me scat - too long.
Thoughts with the poorlies.

Good morning from chilly South Lanarkshire.

The children yesterday were all in good form. Apparently it was National Games Day so they had to take in a favourite game, stations were set up around the classrooms so they were all able to try out different things. The middle child’s class had spent the morning in the woods across the road. I was handed a pair of very muddy wellies when I collected her.

Daft dug has an appointment with the groomer this afternoon. It costs more than my own haircuts.

Bella that sounds rotten,

Thinking of the FGTs and MD’s DiL, and all who are struggling with illnesses.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Sar53 Fri 06-Feb-26 07:53:32

Good morning from a very wet Essex coast.
Yesterday morning I had coffee with a neighbour who lost her husband at the beginning of January, then I did a small food shop.
DH looks like he's gone 10 rounds in the ring. His eye is very bruised and swollen and quite painful. We started on putting antibiotic cream in it 4 times a day for 2 weeks.
Not much on the agenda today, this weather makes me feel like hibernating.
Thinking of Bellas grandson and Marys DIL and anyone else in the sick bay.
Take care everyone, best wishes to all xx

Marydoll Fri 06-Feb-26 08:11:07

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 3°C.

Wow, that was a lot of books to move on your own GM, Could you not have asked for help?
However, I can see why you were asked to move them, health and safety regulations for public/communal areas are very rigorous nowadays.

Once again, thank you all for your good wishes for my DIL. She is still very ill in HDU, but getting excellent care.
It was only when she was in theatre, did the surgeon find that there was a further serious issue, unconnected to the original op, which was not showing on the scans.

Her bowel had burst open in an area, away from the original surgical join, The surgeon said, she had never seen anything like it and had no idea why it happened. She was so fortunate, it had happend, while she was still in hospital.
On a positive note, she sent me a photo of her dinner, a huge bag of nutrients in a drip.
Poor we Dollie has had a rough time and was screwing up her nose, when DS explained what had happened,
However, last night her mum showed her the stoma and she seems to have accepted it.

It had been our plan to visit last night, on the way home from dropping off Babydoll, However, she was very unwell yesterday, with a high temperature, so we decided not to go, in case we brought anything into the hospital.
It was a very long shift yesterday and I am still struggling, she wanted nothing to do with DH and refused to leave my side, even insisting on following me to the loo,
Nothing I did was right;
I need raspberries, No, I want blueberries
I want an orange, pleeeeese.. I cut up a blood orange, but... That is not an orange, it is red, oranges are orange. Nana's (the other gran) oranges are orange
This was the pattern for the day. I was shattered, but oh the joy of being loved so much.😍

I'm rushing to Silverburn, to go to M&S food hall and pick up a parcel, which went missing and had to be re-ordered.
I would have liked a wander, but we are going to visit DD at lunchtime, when hopefully we will get a parking space.
I couldn't do the bus thing today,

I hope you and your boy feel better soon, Bella, your wee grandson reminds me so much of my own boy.♥️

I will come back later and read properly, I want to get out early, before Silverburn gets too busy,

Have a pleasant day folks and best wishes to all, who are struggling,
