Good morning from another dreary day in Bristol. I’m not a fan of February, I find it long and depressing with the cold, wet and dark. Can’t wait for March.
In a fit of pique and a lot of anger, I moved my book cases into the flat. ‘Elf and Safety for the complex have deemed that nothing not fixed to the wall, should be left in the communal areas. They are “fire and trip hazards “!
My book cases fit perfectly under the stairs, and in no way could cause any problem, unlike the large communal sunshade, not to mention wheelchairs and walkers, etc. are these supposed to be taken upstairs?
Anyway, I measured, pondered and decided to shift my two 1x5 Ikea cube thingies (Kallax?) into the flat.
I measured them carefully and found them 3cm too long to fit one horizontally in the hall way, yo use as a seat for putting shoes on. I had to rethink. In the end one went into the living room, the other into the already very crowded spare/sewing room.
I heaved over 300 books, sorting them into keep/give to charity shop heaps. The shelving itself was very heavy. Thank goodness for mats and “wooden” floors. I just pushed them along before slotting into their new place.
In the sewing room, it involved shifting two sets of drawers. The first was easy, not the second. I had to remove all the shelves, hit a plant pot which immediately threw compost all over the floor, into one drawer and places that other things would never reach. Cue exasperation and the vacuum!
Half done, I went to my t’ai chi class. A very energetic one this week, which always makes me very sleepy. Home, lunch, nap, finish the bookcase jobs.
Took the bus to DD’s for dinner. When I left home it was damp, I got off the bus, it was pouring. I did have my umbrella.
I had offered the family a takeaway for dinner as I had been scolded by DD for not spending enough. Little did I realise that it would cost me nearly £100! Is this normal for four pizzas and a couple of salads?
Spanish this morning, then I’ll be baking this afternoon for church coffee tomorrow morning.
MD, I’m glad your DiL’s problems have been diagnosed and something done about it. Susan, I’m pleased that your mum’s house is being cleared; it’s so emotional as well as hard work.
