Good morning from Bristol.
When I moved from a dry SE, I realised that in the West Country, it either was raining, had rained or was about to rain. This winter has proved me right.
The plasterer did come except he wasn’t one! More waiting for the right person to have a look.
FAB cafe this morning, the my library book group. The story was rather silly, but was interesting re. a group of women taking books round the wilds of Wisconsin, helping the illiterate to read and educate themselves, but also “illegally” lending Marie Stopes’ book.
Have a good day all. 💐 to fgt and md’s family.

Good morning from Malta where it looks like another fine day with a high of 16°C.

Yesterday was sunny and I enjoyed my walk up to meet my friend for coffee. She’s a lovely person, always cheerful.

I might go to Lidl today but really need to clean the fridge before I refill it. Otherwise my usual pottering about the house.

Wishing you all a good day.🤗

RosesandLilac Wed 11-Feb-26 06:11:12

Good morning, needless to say it’s raining here on the hillside in south Glos, another wet day ahead.
Yesterday was dismal although it did slightly brighten up for 10 minutes early afternoon.
I gave the bathroom a look a thorough clean, they weren’t dirty just a bit dusty and everything is clean and shiny now.
Tiddler has her annual vaccinations this morning, I will walk her first before driving to the vets in a nearby town. I can go to the lovely greengrocers afterwards, stock up on fruit and veg.
Nothing else planned but I will do more of my virus shawl. I think I have got the hang of the pattern 🤞🏻🤞🏻 after much unraveling!
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

grandMattie Wed 11-Feb-26 06:20:16

What is a “virus shawl”, RandL?

Good morning from a quiet, calm and wet Cornwall.

My ex daughter-in-law, the arty one, popped in yesterday. We haven't seen each other for a month, unusually. She was looking as gorgeous as ever, very pre-Raphaelite with her long red hair and full length dress quite damp around the hem. 😁 She left with a box of freshly made gingerbread cookies for my 16-year-old grandson. I've an invitation to eat at theirs over the weekend.

Made some ear-rings from copper pressed with lace through rollers last night. I realised how much we've already learnt as we had freedom to get on with our projects with minimal supervision. I'm quite a dab hand with a blow torch now. 😂

There's a half hour wait between the two buses that take me home and I found a Subway open and sat in there with a caffeinated coffee (no decaf available) wondering if I'd sleep with it in my system. Home at 11pm to lights twinkling in the rain outside the nearby pubs, quite magical, and yes, I did sleep! A message came from my single younger son asking me out for a meal on either Friday or Saturday. I pointed out that Saturday is Valentine's Day. He laughed and we agreed to meet on Friday.

Today I'm carting my friend's very heavy curtains to a local seamstress as the hems have defeated me. Then I'll take a bus to my favourite library to catch up with my Lego colleague as we've been ships that pass in the night lately.

Good morning from a dark and looks damp N Surrey.
GM I come from your old area in the SE, my sister lives in your old town, and I miss the strong winds and very fresh seaside air. Always much drier than even here in N Surrey.

I didn't mind the cold of my childhood nor the winds. The wonderful skies and sunsets made up for it.

Some sunny days, when the sky is blue and there are large white clouds bouncing along, I say to myself this is a Thanet day. Thanet being what was once an island on the tip of SE Kent

Good morning from Sheffield
I was very touched by everybody’s good wishes for my birthday yesterday ,thank you . I had a lovely time with family yesterday evening

Today is a working day

DH is going to hospital to have some nerve tests on his wrists as he may have carpal tunnel syndrome so he’ll be toddling off there while I’m working
A volunteer session this evening and that will be another day done.

Take care everyone flowers

Sar53 Wed 11-Feb-26 06:49:03

Good morning from the Essex coast.
I'm awake and up early as DH has a hospital appointment at 8.45 and I need to make sure he is up and ready.
His eye looks better so we will see what the consultant thinks.
Tomorrow we are having fibre broadband installed with a new supplier so, today, I need to clear a space for him to work.
Have a good day everyone, best wishes to all xx

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Feb-26 06:50:17

Good morning all from a very wet Polmont where it's currently 4°. Not a pleasant morning. GrandMattie what an absolute nuisance for you.
My feet improved yesterday but dgs2 did not! For starters, he refused to get out of my car when we arrived at my house. I stood at the car for 5 minutes ignoring him. Finally I said I was going and shut the door and that galvanised him into action. However he was very temperamental the rest of the morning. The same applied after nursery. They think he's a wingless angel, the family knows otherwise!
Today I'm up early for a haircut at 8. My hairdresser works crazy hours. Then I'll head to the school library for an hour. This afternoon a friend is picking me up to go for coffee. I haven't seen her for ages so I'm looking forward to it. Have a good day all.

Good morning from s somerset, a bit of rain today but a nice amount of sun too

Spring is definitely coming, ds in australia sent a photo of her garden, hot, brown and dry, give me rain any day, I love green and our changeable climate

Lumie light has made a good start, I have a few tweaks to do today but had the sunset and sunrise and an eight hour sleep

I will be taking advantage of the sun today, in one way or another, even if just sitting out with a hot drink and my coat on. A walk is on the cards and I need to go to the local shops

No other plans really, what will be will be, as always

Have a good day

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was a lovely, busy day. Topped off by eldest GD playing brilliantly in her netball game even although she wasn’t feeling great. Her youngest sibling whose birthday it was went to bed a tired but happy boy. My heart was full.

I’m praying that today DH’s knee surgery goes well without any problems. This is his third date, the last two having been cancelled due to staff shortages.

Think of those with worries and illness. FGTs and MD’s DiL are in my thoughts.

Melanie and Sar best wishes to your DHs.

Have the best day possible everyone.

NannyJan53 Wed 11-Feb-26 07:06:07

Good morning from a dry (for now) Black Country.

Meeting with financial advisor went well, and I know what I need to do regarding this pension pot.

Then into town to meet DGD2 (17) for lunch, and to hear all about her trip to Gambia. Left her in the Cafe Lounge bar with a milkshake, whilst she did some college work.

Then off to Building Society to sort out an Account that has matured.

Wishing you all a pleasant day. FGT's, MD flowers

Gagagran Wed 11-Feb-26 07:11:18

Good Morning everyone from a damp and drizzly central south coast. It is milder though and we may see some sporadic sunshine amidst light showers, or soo we are advised.

The saga of DH's ears took another turn yesterday when he went to the pharmacy to have the wax extracted. The operator could not get it all out and has sent him away with another appointment in 7 days. Meanwhile I have to put olive oil in his ears, morning and evening every day. On top of that, she asked him if he would like his BP tested and he said OK despite knowing that he has white coat syndrome and tests it himself frequently on our own machine.

Well, as I would have guessed, it was sky high and she must have reported it to the GP surgery because he then got a message from them asking him to take his BP morning and evening for a week and send the readings in to them! So, all because I told him he needed to get his hearing tested , we now have a week of olive oil and BP testing! (Of course he blames me).

Despite all that, he is out with his cycle club today for a coffee and cake stop followed later by lunch. I shall enjoy a quiet day before choir tonight and the return of our MD following her absence all this year, due to a close family bereavement.

Kind thoughts to all our GNs with worries or struggles of any sort. May the day bring some ease and calmness for us all.

I have no idea where the name came from Grandmattie, I’ve doing a version of it that also has rows of granny crochet.
I have barely started…..

Just saying, I am going to take a break from posting for while

GrannyGravy13 Wed 11-Feb-26 07:14:23

Good morning, my darling 10 yr old GS is 11 today 🎂. Where on earth have those years gone, seems like only yesterday I was holding DD hand and reassuring her that she was doing well (difficult birth). His party is with friends on Sunday. Tonight we will go for a family meal.

I am not going to the gym, still feel a bit off I think it is down to coming off of the dreaded steroids.

Thinking of all our morning friends with illness and worries 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from N.Bucks. I’m ignoring the weather.
Nothing much planned for today, maybe a visit to a large warehouse to stock up on certain items.
I’ll also be making two large dishes of Lasagne t o put in the freezer for Sunday when all the family are coming for dinner.
Wishing all a good day and thinking of those with troubles and illnesses.

Greyduster Wed 11-Feb-26 07:20:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is damp yet again. I read somewhere yesterday that there is a “blockage” in the weather caused by a “wiggle” in the Gulf Stream. Whatever next? No don’t answer that!

In my reading group yesterday I had not just one but two sulky “why do we have to learn to read”ers. They come in looking as if they are on their way to the gallows and I spend most of their time with me trying “big up” the benefits of reading and getting no reading done with them. I hope they will come round soon. Fortunately they are in a minority. The rest of the group are a joy and get a great deal out of our sessions.

I forgot to put the bin out last night, so once it gets light enough, I shall have to nip out and do that before the lorry comes.

Writers group at the library this afternoon. It’s DGS’s ninetheenth birthday today so I hope to have a chat with him later and wish him a happy birthday. I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday and how excited DH and I were.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Ashcombe Wed 11-Feb-26 07:26:59

Good morning from Torbay where the sky is brightening and it’s not raining!

That looks beautiful, RosesandLilac, and my favourite colours!

Wednesday Club today which I have to co-host as the regular organiser is away for a few weeks. It mainly involves setting up and serving refreshments then clearing away and leaving the theatre secure. Someone else is running the meeting.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Feb-26 07:30:27

Karma I will miss you. Come back when you feel able to.

monk08 Wed 11-Feb-26 07:33:21

Good morning all from the Black country dry at the moment but light rain forecast just for a change.
Toddlers this morning and as of yet 2 helpers down so hope it's not to busy, lately the numbers have been increasing.
Picking the boys up after school, will take them to the local for tea where there is a play area which they both enjoy, will take them home then and wait for DS or DiL to come home ones in Cardiff and ones down London so don't know who will back first.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans.
Hoping for better news from the poorlies 💐

brook2704 Wed 11-Feb-26 07:33:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark and looks like there are puddles outside
Hoping all goes well for your DH today Baubles
I’ve a volunteering session this morning, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and then I’ll go over to the gym for an hour. After that a bit of food shopping and then home
Take care Karma I’ll miss reading your posts but hope to see you back soon
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Wed 11-Feb-26 07:34:30

Good morning everyone from a wet mid Essex. It’s raining again, after a very wet evening and night. I spent a quiet day at DD1’s yesterday, keeping the dog company, reading and watching the Winter Olympics. I was actually trapped in the house, their wooden front door had swollen due to the incessant rain and needed a gentle kick to open it from the outside. However i was unable to pull it open from inside, so a good thing I didn’t have to collect the DGDs from after school club! DD1 and her DH collected them and their cousin on their way home.
I need to collect a prescription from the local pharmacy this morning and do some washing.

I think that the rain this winter has been quite widespread, grandmattie and helterskelter, Essex is also generally a dry county, but not this year!

I hope that marydoll’s DDil is beginning to recover.

baubles I hope that your DH’s surgery takes place today and that he makes a swift recovery.

Thinking of all who are struggling at the moment and hoping that life gets a little easier for you.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.
