That first morning cup of tea.

Nothing quite like it first thing. I usually do a little bit of housework clutching my hot water and lemon. Sit down time with my computer with a lovely cup of tea. Quite fussy about the tea bags so usually have the gold box ones from M&S. DH is very happy with the cheapo decaf teabags. How do you start your day?

Tea is my first drink and I have one before I do anything.,It has to be Yorkshire and not too strong, sugarless and hot.
Sometimes I'll have a biscuit with it .
Later , I'll have another tea with French toast.
Occasionally I'll have porridge with honey.

It would be interesting to hear about how Gransnetters feel about, and plan for, their future “twilight” years. Does anyone consider living in an annexe connected to a dear son or daughter’s home?

May be you could start a new thread. I think you would get lots of replies to this.

I like PG Tips loose tea brewed in a pot with an integral strainer.
Waking up has never been easy for me so I’m very grateful that my early bird husband brings me a cup in bed.

Hot water and lemon rots your teeth

Twinings Assam in a Wedgwood pot with not matching Wedgwood breakfast cup with a chip on the opposite side. I should throw it out but it’s the perfect size and it tastes perfect. With milk. I also strain out the tea and reheat it after my bath and go back to bed to read and deal with the days emails/ problems. It’s by far the best moment of the day. Occasionally DH will make the tea for me but he doesn’t Like the chipped cup so I’m very grateful but It’s not perfect. Too many perfects

I get up (6 am the mornings I work a bit later the others) feed the cats then take a cup of tea back to bed for about 20 minutes then shower and dress and start the day.

I never eat breakfast unless I’m on holiday and have lots of time. That first cup is the best , on the weekend it’s 2 cups. We like Sainsbury’s tea bags which are also fair trade . I have a cup of coffee later in the morning and then more tea on the afternoon . Water in between and with lunch

Pills, breakfast, then coffee with Wordle and Sumplete puzzles 😃

Very fussy about breakfast. Expresso pot of coffee.. grind the high roast beans put coffee pot on the stove, heat half pint of skimmed milk in microwave - makes two large cups of cafe au lait. toast two slices of homemade wholemeal bread .. then I decide whether to have egg or cheese or tomato or apricot jam or home made marmalade. Been the same for 50 years.

With coffee and toast, haven’t drunk tea since at my grans over 50 years ago, and I got a mouthful of tea leaves ugh I still shudder today, can’t even go near teabags 😳

It has to be tea first thing in the morning. And it has to be Ringtons delivered by the man in the van. Yorkshire tea is the only possible alternative if Ringtons is available. Each to their own but I can't stand the awful fruit teas. They smell delicious when someone makes one but they taste like grass cuttings.

Love rooibos tea all day or just recently rooibos either Earl grey 2 big cups of one of them at breakfast

Franski Fri 13-Feb-26 17:04:07

DH wakes me up every morning with a cup of tea.
Hope I don't outlive him....

I haven't drunk tea since I was 10 years old. To me it tastes like sucking copper pennies, I really don't know how anyone can even get it past their lips. Afraid my day starts with the first of a host of medications.

Perhaps your medications have affected your taste?

I can't face coffee in the morning, it has to be tea (Yorkshire) and coffee later at about 11 am.

Taylor’s rose petal tea for me. DH brings me my morning cuppa - can’t get up without it,

Readandcook Fri 13-Feb-26 16:24:53

Got to be Twinnings tea for me- strong with a spoonful sugar in my favourite mug.
Have started making my own granola which I use as overnight oats with milk and blueberries.
Check out Good food homemade granola and you will never go back to shop bought ones!

I don't like tea or coffee, so for me it's Organic Mountain Honeybush infusion, gorgeous, that a huge bowl of organic jumbo oats made with soy milk and water.

Coffee for me, first cup I take to back to bed and have a little me time, usually scroll through my phone, cup 2 about an hour later with a round of Wholemeal Toast, marmite & boiled egg, small bowl of fruit.

Geordiegirl1 Fri 13-Feb-26 15:56:43

Can’t eat or drink for an hour (meds). Used to love my cuppa first thing.

WhiteSwan63 Fri 13-Feb-26 15:54:26

My first drink is my blended lemon juice with orange juice and a fevertree tonic which keeps night cramps at bay and with it my morning medication. Half an hour later my first cuppa with milk and I have three straight after each other. Tea with milk is my favourite drink. I try to limit teas and coffees to six in a day and decaff only after 10am.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 13-Feb-26 15:53:11

I’m usually out of bed around 8 ish. Shower then downstairs by 9 am. Always a small pot of English Breakfast tea, glass of pineapple juice, brown marmalade toast, banana and a small bowl of muesli. Followed by a glass of water and my tablets. Every day. If we’re on holiday I look forward to a FEB!

welshgirl2017 Fri 13-Feb-26 15:37:55

Two big mugs (sometimes three) of Betty's Earl Grey loose tea - has to be this for the first tea of the day, touch of milk - rest of the day is decaf coffee latte with oat milk and then later on Clipper decaf Earl Grey teabags, as I can't get decaf loose Earl Grey ( at least not proper Earl Grey made with China tea)!

Harris27 Fri 13-Feb-26 15:23:15

First cup of tea a weetabix and a slice of toast I’m ready for the day! Got to be ringtons for me I have it delivered. Lovely lad always on time and makes me smile.
